Abyss Permitting || Charles & Dia

Dia paused as the words registered in her head. She smiled faintly and pulled the spare notepad she had stowed in her purse, âIâd love to get dinner with you.â She flipped through the written in pages, finding one that wasnât loaded with notes and tearing it out.
She scribbled her phone number down, setting it on his desk, âI may not be the best with timing but⌠at least youâll still be in contact with me now.âÂ
Despite how difficult it was to tell, Dia couldnât stop smiling. And she really hoped that Charles could notice the shift in her expression.Â
âIâll be on my way now. Iâll⌠be waiting on your call.âÂ
Charles hadnât ever seen Dia smile before. It was a soft, subtle thing in her eyes and the quiet corners of her lips. Though it wasnât a grand gesture, seeing it made his heart thud in his chest.Â
His own face stretched into a smile until it formed dimples in his cheeks. âThatâs. Yes. Wonderful. Perfect.â
He grasped the piece of paper tightly and watched her leave his office. Had the sway of her hips always been like that, or was it is his hopeful imagination? Whether that was real or not, he had a concrete thing connecting them now.Â
They were going on a date.
