When, after searching extensively, you find the fanfic with the tropes you wanted so badly and it is written as you imagined it:

There is a line between making a reader be more innocent and/or submissive to the character you’re writing them with, and making reader just completely childlike. And some of you are starting to blur it just a bit too much.

You can make your reader be more ‘innocent’ in regards to a burly, ‘bad’ character like Arthur Morgan or Dutch Van Der Linde or Joel Miller etc and not make them behave like a literal child.

It’s really bloody gross.

I absolutely adore your writing and i was wondering if you could write some headcanons for how the boys (specifically Micah/Arthur/Bill/Kieran is what i'd request but you can do any!) would react to their s/o having frequent nightmares ? Like waking up in the middle of the night all panicky and confused and how the characters would react to it (or comfort them) :33

How RDR2 men react to their s/o having nightmares

Micah, Arthur, Bill, Kieran, Dutch, Javier, Charles, Sean, Hosea

Micah - He wakes up immediately when you jolt upright in bed. His hands quickly go to his guns and he sits upright to scan the room for the threat. When he realizes you were just having a nightmare, he gets a bit annoyed. He teases you about it but reminds you that he's got his guns and nobody would dare bother him while he was sleeping and thus nobody would dare bother you. He convinces you to lay your head back down and get some sleep. He can't sleep for the rest of the night. Maybe he'd cruelly bring up a horror book he'd read or something gruesome he had witnessed and he'd laugh when it scares you.

Arthur - He wakes quickly but calms down as soon as he realizes you were having a nightmare. He kisses you on the forehead and wraps his arms around you, pulling you close and telling you everything is okay. He doesn't push you to talk about it, but he listens closely if you do. He stays up after that, his eyes slightly parted and blinking in the darkness as he listens to you breathe.

Bill - He wakes up confused, looking around and saying "What, what?" When you explain you had a nightmare, he says "Ohhh!" And nods his head like he understands. Bill doesn't have any dreams or nightmares so he doesn't know what it's like to have a nightmare. He attempts to comfort you by telling you about his own fears but it doesn't really help. He lets you cuddle if you want to, he's so soft and like a huge pillow. He falls asleep pretty quickly afterwards and forgets about the entire event until you have another nightmare.

Kieran - You kick and jolt awake, sitting up and Kieran nearly falls out of the bed. The look of fear in your eyes is enough to have him shaking. He tries to be brave because he knows you just had a terrible dream. He gets as close as he can to you, wrapping his arms around you, and he tells you it was all just a dream, none of it was real. He's shivering and neither of you get anymore sleep that night.

Dutch - He wakes slowly and grabs you tightly by the shoulder, shaking you to bring you back to the present. He nods his head before you can say anything, already knowing what your problem is. He starts to talk about fear and frames the nightmare as if it were a war you just fought and won. His voice is soothing and you relax and fall asleep before he's done talking.

Javier - He's confused when he wakes up but not exactly scared by your panic. He shushes you and pulls you close, brushing a hand over your hair. You both lay face to face and he demands that you talk about what scared you. His voice is calm and rough from sleep. You talk about it with him and then he tells you that nothing can hurt you when you're with him, that he'll always protect you.

Charles - He wakes up before you do and he shakes you awake. He rubs his hand over your shoulder soothingly when you start to shiver from fear. He welcomes you closer, so he can hold you, he's warm and strong. He doesn't ask that you talk about it, just reminds you that he's always there for you and he'll listen to whatever you have to say.

Sean - He tries to laugh it off. When that doesn't work, he gets awfully gentle. He scoops you up in his thin arms and kisses your face all over, saying something about how nothing in the world would dare hurt you for fear of him.

Hosea - He also wakes up before you do. He feels you twitching in your sleep and knows when he sees your face that you're not having a good dream. He wakes you as gently as he can, calling your name softly. When you wake, he rubs his thumb soothingly on your shoulder and lets you come back to reality. He asks if you want to talk about it and he listens closely if you do. He doesn't say much but he lies close to you and keeps a hand on you, sighing softly as he closes his eyes and starts to drift off. The sound of his breathing gradually deepens, helping to soothe you.
