mandclcrian:
his eyes widened within his visor as the child in his arms continued to play with the flower. “oh, i see.” mando managed, his voice unsteady. he had no idea the woman he had his arm around was the ruler of an entire kingdom. would he have to kill some angry guards for touching their queen?
her warm smile entranced him as he tried to string words together. he was finding it hard to weave coherent sentences together around her. “mandalorians in my tribe don’t really have them,” he muttered. “i had one when i was a boy.” his childhood name was so foreign to him as nobody had called him that since he was young. he debated telling her his name before looking back into her kind eyes. “it was din.”
as he spoke, rosaline just nodded slowly, giving him the ultimate decision to whether he wanted to tell her his name or not. never would she force it out of him, especially given his background as a mandalorian. however... he did tell her. rosaline’s smile widened immediately. “din,” she repeated elegantly, nodding her head once. “it is a beautiful name.”
together they began walking arm in arm through the gardens and to one of the side entrances to her palace. once inside, her handmaidens came to escort them, but rosaline waved them off with an appreciative smile, and they departed. again it was just the two of them walking through the halls, rosaline holding up the skirt of her dress with one hand and still holding his arm with the other. “i know you must have traversed these halls upon your time here,” she mused. the suites she gave away to those in need of them were all on this floor. but she steered him up a staircase to her level, and out to a balcony off the hallway that overlooked the palace plaza.
“this is where i come in the mornings when i wake up. i look out over the planet and the beauty of it,” she sighed, resting her hands on the bannister now. the child cooed in awe of the sight as well, and she laughed gently, lightly poking at its nose. then she looked up at the mandalorian once more. “i know how different this place must be from what you are used to, din,” she began, tilting her head slightly. “perhaps you... would consider settling down in a place like this eventually.” of course they did not exactly have a choice at that moment due to the forcefield, but perhaps he would consider staying once it was broken ( if ever ). “i think the child would enjoy living here. maybe out in the fields... where he can be free from any danger...”
