The day she left

Well, turns out I did write something at some point in time. Not this year, though. No, this is from May 2017. I just cleaned it up a bit. I don’t actually like fics about the break-up too much. Lately I’ve not been reading anything that looked somewhat angsty at the first glance, because I’ve been dealing with too much stuff lately, but back when I did try to make sense of the break-up to myself somehow.

So this is it. My first official X-Files fanfic. Tagging @today-in-fic, despite the fact that I’m not really sure how any of this works yet. Also tagging @marinafrenzy, who wanted to know when I upload this. Hope you guys like the story!

He remembered the day she left like it was yesterday.

The sun was shining, far too bright for such a sombre event, blinding him as she had walked out the door and out of his life. He had been sitting in his study slaving away at his computer trying to find something meaningful to fill the emptiness he could feel inside himself. He hadn’t really left the study in days, his head always trying to find connections between cases and sightings, trying to work like he used to. Even his feet wouldn’t carry him further than to the couch to sleep or to the kitchen to pick up whatever Scully had left out for him from a meal she had made hours ago. He hated himself for the fact that he knew that she was unhappy but couldn’t bring himself to do anything about it. His doubts had already clawed their way into his heart years ago and he just couldn’t stomach the disappointed look in her eyes anymore, so he tried not to look at her at all. There were so many things he blamed himself for, things that had so long paled in comparison to her smile, but that had started to tear at his heart whenever he was alone in that big empty house, while she was at work.
