"Nothing changes if you don't." On my commute this morning, I had been feeling a bit down about parts of my life that aren't going as I'd hoped. I'd been buried in my phone the whole ride, and just as we got to my stop, I looked up and saw this, on the seat in front of me. I laughed. OK, Uni, you got me. On one hand, it's true that change is inevitable, whether we welcome it or not. And Billy Joel was really onto something with "Just the Way You Are." But on the other, and to the point, we can't expect to find ourselves in the version of our lives we wish to live if we don't position ourselves on a course to get there, by making changes, big or small. What would you like to change?

Dead Winter Carpenters I saw this band last night at Porter Square bar TOAD, which is little more than a hallway with a bar--and I'm ok with that. (Sometimes I wish my hallway had a bar.) They come on strong and smooth with a mix of mountain music and jam band, and a side of totally killer fiddling. This song strums my heart strings pretty hard. Makes for good whiskey drinking music.
