portfolio development

over the past few months I have been developing my own physical portfolio that has enabled me to gain experience in using publishers, excelling my own skills in illustrator and has allowed me to have an even better chance of getting a job later on down the line.

pro con 3 pdf

The pdf for pro con 3 was an exciting way to include everything I have achieved over the past year, from becoming passionate about photography to being accepted onto a Masters degree. I have kept it short, but I have made sure I have gone into as much detail as possible.

creating the pdf for the nmp was a great way to round off the project, I went into detail on every aspect of the process and gained better skills using illustrator.

SHIFT final 

The final outcome of the magazine has exceeded my own expectations, I have always wanted to work in publishing and three years at university has allowed my skills to develop to a point where I feel confident in experimenting and understanding that design is about breaking standards and also that trial and error is the key to creating a perfect piece. We have created a magazine that allows students to express themselves in any artistic way possible from drag to dance, it has been a challenge as neither of us has ever created something like this from start to finish. I was the content director which allowed me to contact people to contribute material for the magazine, photograph and edit my own content, met in person with each contributor, and gave me experience in the industry I hope to pursue.

retouching

From extreme editing to simple retouching, I found that this was definitely more my aesthetic, I felt that the photographs were good enough to be simply retouched, they say a picture speaks a thousand words and I feel like they do.

experiments

With the experiments I wanted to divulge into manipulation and extreme editing as I express myself through colours and distorted images, there are more images on my blog although these give a rough idea of the route I was taking with them. My aesthetic is usually very minimal but when it came to editing these images I wanted to experiment with different styles as the magazine is inspired by artist self expression.
