paid Malang another visit: Jazz Gunung 2014 and Batu Secret Zoo!
June 20, 2014
Read the story here. Inti ceritanya sih tentang how we both almost got lost in the middle of Bromo's savanna at night.
June 21, 2014
On the next day we went to Batu Secret Zoo. It was great. Like, really really great. Despite the fact that I'm an animal lover, Batu Secret Zoo memang bagus dan bersih. Jadi bukan semata-mata karena gue seneng ngeliat binatang aja gitu. I wish Jakarta will have something like this too. Sore dan Malemnya because we ran out of energy already, jadi gak lanjut ke BNS or Museum Angkut. We only made a stop for one of Malang's famous culinary which was bakso bakar before we went back to Padi City Resort.
June 22, 2014
Rencana awal sebenernya mau overnight di Ranu Kumbolo but since I had to attend Jakarta Model United Nation on the 23rd jadi gak bisa deh. Next time yah, Yaya! Anyways, it was a bright sunny day when we left Padi City Resort. I recommend this place for anyone who's looking for a place to stay in Malang. You can make a reservation via Agoda or Booking.com.
On my way back in a train, the universe once more showed me its greatness. Good God is good :)
Plan your trip to Malang:
Beli tiket kereta dari jauh-jauh hari biar dapet murah. Price may varies tergantung dari mana asal keberangkatan. If you're leaving from Jakarta, bisa banget kok tiket pulang-pergi dapet under 400k. I usually buy train tickets via tiketkai.com or go straight to Indomaret.
I usually make reservation via booking.com
Gue lupa kemarin rental di mana but you can simply google it just like I did the first time.
Untuk biaya masuk ke Batu Secret Zoo dan tempat rekreasi lainnya you can also google it.
Nah, the way I see it, yang masih kurang ke-expose itu pantai-pantai di Malang yang gak kalah bagusnya sama tempat-tempat wisata yang barusan gue sebut (and yes although I've never been to any of them, I'm just trying to give good suggestions). Here's a link about Malang's beaches you might want to see.
See you on my next post! :)
Jogja Bound
May 30-31, 2014
Less than two weeks after my trip to Semeru, I went to Jogja to meet this special friend of mine. It was only a two days trip but a very memorable one <3 I left Jakarta by train at 1pm and got there at night. The first thing I wanted to do was to go to Warung Makan Pak Parno near Lempuyangan traditional market since they have the best tongseng kambing I've ever tried, but unfortunately it was closed when I got there.
So I went straight to Mango Tree Dipudjo which was a great place to stay. Affordable, clean, and homy. You can search it up on google or make a reservation through booking.com like I did last time.
On the next day, my friend and I had lunch in my favorite cafe in Jogja; Via Via. After that, we went to eat gelato in another cafe (or I think it was a bakery?). Before he sent me off to a bus terminal, he took me to an orchid plantation and oh my, it was so pretty. That was it though. I really enjoyed the bus ride on my way back to Jakarta. Got to see one hell of an enchanting sunrise when the bus was passing Indramayu.
All set, ready to go!
A quick stop at Cirebon station.
Spending the day with my own version of Ruby Sparks.
While on a motor bike.
Orchids, orchids everywhere!

May 14, 2014
May was filled with a few days off and as soon as I realized it, I contacted my friends in Malang to make our plan to go to Semeru happen. So finally on May 14 I left Jakarta with Tassa. It took us around 17 hours to arrived in Malang with a train. The long ass journey wasn't that bad because I had Tassa around to make me laugh and the view along the way tho.. The skies were bright that day, luckily we could see the sunset clearly.
Overpriced Indomie as my late lunch with a view.
As the sun goes down.
May 15, 2014
Local workers.
A friend of mine picked us up from the station at 8 in the morning. We went to his house first to pack things up and to meet everyone else. After splitting all the logistics, seven of us got in to an angkot we rented to reach Tumpang and from Tumpang we rented a jeep to go to Ranu Pani. Unfortunately we left Malang a little bit too late so when we arrived there the office was closed due to quota of hikers has been reached that day.
We were all upset to face the fact that we had to do the summit only in 2 days 1 night --which was exhausting-- and we knew we won't be able to spend a night in Ranu Kumbolo but there was nothing we can do about it so we spent our first night in Ranu Pani. Note: if you're going to Semeru anytime soon, do try nasi kare in warung Bu Erna in Ranu Pani. Great taste, cheap price, you'll thank me later.
Misty way up with a jeep.
May 16, 2014
After we were done with the registration which took quiet some time, we finally left Ranu Pani at around 9.45am and arrived at Ranu Kumbolo at around 2.30pm. Ranu Kumbolo was beaaauuutiful. Waktu dari atas udah mulai keliatan, capeknya langsung bener-bener ilang. Terus langsung lari turun karena semangat lagi. Tassa and I were the first to reach Ranu Kumbolo so we had to wait for the others until they showed up.
Ranu Kumbolo from above.
That's Tassa over there washing her face.
Going downhill for the last time before arriving at Ranu Kumbolo.
The others arrived an hour later and we took some time off before continuing the walk (and hike as well). I was a bit worry because suddenly the sky got cloudy but thank God it didn't rain. After we passed the famous Tanjakan Cinta (yes I did try to think of someone without looking back down while going through it), we finally got exposed to the beauty of Oro-Oro Ombo! I felt lucky to have seen it during the blooming season.
Left to Right: Awi and Tassa. Sejauh ini setiap kali naik gunung pasti sama Awi. Semoga ke Kerinci jadi ya Wi, Jadi tiga gunung api tertinggi di Indonesia perginya selalu sama lo!
Dem colors.. Just look at that, I have nothing else to say.
It was almost dark when we were entering Cemoro Kandang. After three hours of going through the woods --and experienced a somehow common strange thing that I have previously written about it here-- we finally reached Kalimati. After that we set up our tent, had dinner, and went to catch some Zs because by that time we only had 3 hours to rest our tired bodies.
May 17, 2014
We woke up at 1am, prepared ourselves, and started the real deal. Arcopodo was closed so we went up through a new track. A friend that was once went to Semeru before told me that the new track is better than Arcopodo. It was okay at the beginning until we reached a point where the track was all sandy, full with pebble-stones, and hard to walk on. Tassa stopped in a quarter of the way up due to her stomach ache. She cried, I hugged her, and told her that she did a great job already. Reaching the summit is only a bonus when someone is doing a hike. What really matters is the journey. Tassa if you're reading this, remember that I promised you to take you to a summit of another mountain :)
Um, where were we? Ah right, after Tassa decided not to go up to the summit, we continued going up. One hour, two hours, three hours, the wind got stronger, four hours, the cold attacked, five hours, I started to think that I will never get there, six hours, oh look the sunrise! got the force back because it got a bit warmer, seven hours, started to lay down every ten steps that I took, eight hours, found my comfort zone sitting on a big stone and told Baskara that I'm happy already. Then he managed to pull me up every time I got tired. Finally, after more than eight hours of going through the hardest summit track I've ever been to, the cold wind, and the unbelievable scenery, together with Baskara, we reached the summit and met our friends who have arrived there earlier than us. I remember how I shed a tear when I got to the top of Mahameru. It was very emotional in a way.
I've seen different kinds of sunrise from different mountains and places, and each of them has its own different kind of beauty.
What the universe offers.
I wouldn't make it without you, Bas.
3676 meters above sea level!
My amazing friends enjoying the breathtaking view.
After we spent our happiest times at the summit we walked down to go back to Kalimati. But when I was just about to arrive there, I realized that my phone was gone. For a moment I felt like I was dying. I knew it would be crazy if I had to go back up and searched it because I didn't have any energy left and there was only a very small chance to find it. So I went straight to my tent and drowned myself in sadness to sleep. Until suddenly I heard a voice telling my friend that someone found my phone! Good God is good. The tragedy ended there.
After we were done packing, we left Kalimati at 4pm. The others had to spent another night at the mountain because they were too tired to go any further while Tassa and I arrived in Ranu Pani at midnight. We felt bad that we were far ahead them but we had no other choice but to push ourselves to the limit so we could arrive in Ranu Pani as soon as possible cause we had an early morning train schedule to catch on the next day.
It was exhausting as fuck but I'm glad that we actually did it in two days one night.
FAQs:
--There are so many questions about mountaineering in my ask.fm inbox and I came to realize that there are actually people who read my tumblr and a lot of them are younger kids who want to start their first hike so I decided to do this--
How much did it cost me to go on a hike?
Well, it depends. The closer it is the cheaper. Ke Semeru ini my budget was below 1 million but I can't tell precisely how much did I spent because I forgot. If you're new to this kind of thing you should spend more money on buying yourself the equipments.
What are the basic equipments should I own?
Tent, carrier, bag cover, cooking utensils, headlamp, sleepingbag, mattress, gloves, and warm clothes.
What are the things I should prepare?
A good physical condition (Yes you should work out on daily basis at least three/two weeks before you go on a hike and if you're a smoker you should try to stop), a recommendation letter from doctor (surat keterangan sehat), and a copy of your ID card.
What kind of cloth and shoes should I wear?
It gets really hot in the day and gets really cold in the night so suit yourself. I usually wear tank-top and I have this long pants made of corduroy for the day and use three to four warm clothes and double the corduroy pants with training pants (or a legging, if it's not too cold) for the night. I don't use hiking boots because I find it quiet heavy for me. Basically you can use any kinds of shoes. Cuma sepatu gunung itu memang lebih aman just in case you fell down kemungkinan kena anklenya jadi kecil. A friend of mine uses converse and another friend of mine goes with her running shoes. Both of them are doing fine with it. But if you were about to buy a hiking boots, I'd say the more expensive the better. Harga itu gak nipu. Go check Timberland they sell nice shoes. And as in for warm cloth, I'd recommend you to buy North Face's jacket because each jacket is designed to be covered by a wind-stopper material and have the warmth of a two and a half layers of normal warm cloth.
Was it like in the '5 cm' movie?
Cut the crap already. I hate the movie so bad because I started reading 5 cm on 2007 which was way before everyone else know what 5 cm really is and I got disappointed by the movie. So no I didn't go to Semeru because of it (bcs if I did I would've gone to Semeru from when I was still in a middle school) and no it didn't look like it.
See you on my next post! :)
First Half of 2014 // Part Two
In early 2014, just like last year, Wira and I joined Prasmul’s Marketing Plan Competition again. Only this time we teamed up with Arbok, not with Kenzo anymore. Guess what? Our team actually made it to the top five for the final presentation! Unfortunately we didn’t make it thru to top three. But we were very happy already so that wasn’t a big deal at all for us. We’re planning to go for another shot next year.
We are, The xx.
Before the fourth semester started, I decided to moved out from my old apartment, to another one nearer from my campus. Leaving all the memories I do not want to recall. The best part from moving in to a new flat is not only because I like the new room better than before, I also got to share it with Biyan. To some people, sharing a room with a friend doesn’t sound like a good idea, but it’s actually a very nice thing. Especially because Biyan and I have been friends for a long long time.
It’s a small room for two, but it’s lovely.
Turning nineteen means that I only have a year left before I turn twenty. Gak tau kenapa gue takut menjelang kepala dua. Anyways, this year’s 8th of March went a bit dramatic. The plan to enjoy the whole day only by myself was all ruined and moreover I had a fight with my mom. I didn’t want to meet anyone that day tapi akhirnya mau gak mau —cause my friends insisted me to tell them where I was— I let them know with one condition: No surprise, no birthday cake, no candles. So they went to see me and brought me roses instead. Few days after March 8 I got more visits from my thoughtful friends giving wonderful surprises.
Roses, a pineapple, balloons, pizza cake, a decent cake, and all these people <3 couldn’t ask for a better companions.
Birthday lunch by the end of the month to celebrate our birthdays. I have no words to describe how much I love these two.
I love this pic because it’s unlike other pictures of girls trying to look fancy and shit.
A month after my birthday, I tried again to join the selection of Abang None Jakarta Utara because last year I only made it to semifinal. I was so sure to make it through to be the finalist this time, but still the fortune wasn’t mine for the second time. I got sad for a while but I believe that the universe has a better plan for me to gain more marvelous experiences, wherever or whatever that is.
You know I don’t look like this everyday so personally this one is quiet share worthy lol.
The next thing is probably one of the greatest things that happened to me in these past months. By the end of last year, I made an account on ask.fm and I had no idea that I would end up knowing/meeting so many new people with various interesting stories. I’m very happy with having this chat group with some of those amazing people. Not only they’re like a reunited ripped pages of living encyclopedias, they’re also very fun, funny, nice, and all that good-companions-criteria-if-there’s-such-thing. We also spent good times in real life although gak selalu full team. Nothing is better than knowing that you’re surrounded with great minds. I’ve learnt and obtain so many new information since the day I know them. Ask.fm is another weird place to be, indeed. But I must admit that this social media gives a big impact to a lot of people. Be it bad or good.
The night we went to watch a movie and a karaoke place afterward.
Now to close this, on uni and works. Fourth semester was such a pain in the ass, that’s that. So I’m not going to rant any further about it. Meanwhile on works, I resigned from TiXperience (previously known as Jticketconcert). The first year experience was great but as time passed by I couldn’t find more space for me to grow. Yeah now I’m low on money.
Not long after that, few months ago, I started working for OurSay Indonesia. I can’t say that it’s a non-profit organization because basically we’re under a legalized company but well that’s not the thing, the thing is people should know what OurSay is; it’s a platform that connects us, the citizen, to great leaders. There are segmented forums with selected leaders/well known people that are good at it as the panelists and you can ask them questions. In the end, based on votes, we’ll choose top three questions to get direct answers from them. I know right? how awesome is that. Anyways, it’s gonna be a long ass writing if I were to explain everything in this post, so better click HERE. I promise that it’s a very cool thing. Especially if you’re interested in —insert various segmented topics— and having the will to make this country become a better place to live in through democracy.
I promised myself not to join anything again in my campus this year. But Gerakan UI Mengajar is too good to be missed. Never thought I could get along with the people in it at first. But so far, it’s been really fun. The positive vibes when they’re around is priceless. I hope that we all can work this thing out according to plans and targets until next year. Going to work on this for a year)
such a good way to waste my energy.
The last is, (few of) Fur Magazine team got featured on Freemagz!
one fun photoshoot it was!
First Half of 2014 // Part One
Not long after I got back from Bali for a new year retreat, on January 18, out of the blue, a couple of friends and I thought we should go out somewhere because we were bored. Bandung sounds perfect for us to have a quick getaway. So we left Jakarta at night and went straight to bukit Moko with high expectation to see the sunrise.
Sial emang gak kemana. Setelah nyasar ke bukit sebelah yang dipenuhi kuburan cina besar-besar menakutkan, pas nyampe di bukit Moko pun gak dikasih kemudahan sama semesta. It was in the middle of a night, we were in a fuckin hill, our car got stuck, and it started to rain hard. Karena pasrah Teguh, Fadhil, dan gue decided to just sleep inside the car and wait. Sampe akhirnya ada beberapa orang yang turun dari bukit (fortunately there were still some people karena di atas bukitnya memang ada warung kopi) dan beberapa orang yang dibelakang kita (that couldn't go up because the way was blocked by the car) coba bantu untuk literally ngangkat dan geser mobilnya sambil hujan-hujanan. But we failed.
Although the day trip started out bad, we were still hoping for a nice sunrise view. They say after the rain comes the sunshine, but what really happened that morning was; after the rain come the big fat clouds that hide the sunshine. In the end mobilnya berhasil diakalin dan kita lanjut ke Tangkuban Perahu, main-main di kebun teh, ke air terjun, and ended up in a hot spring to restore some energy before driving back to Jakarta.
At least, the city lights seen from up there were mesmerizing.
Excuse my facial expression, I was freezing.
Who doesn't love to see such beautiful greenery?
Reminiscing the good ol' days as a girl scout back in middle school.
This place reminds me of so many great things.
Three days after the day trip to Bandung, on January 22, I went on another day trip to Gunung Pancar that is located in Sentul with Fitri and as always, Teguh. Luckily this time no car incident whatsoever. Karena tujuan awal kesana Fitri mau foto-foto, so we did take a lot of pictures. Of course, mostly, pictures of Fitri hahah. Despite the fact that everyone sorta goes here, I personally really like the place. It's a peaceful place if you go here at the right time. Definitely will go back again for a picnic.
Tall trees and weird people striking poses in the middle of a street.
next is.. MY VERY FIRST VISIT TO KOTA TUA! There's this friend of mine, sebut saja dia Dewa, pas tau gue belum pernah ke kota tua ekspresinya priceless banget sampe gue ngerasa malu sama diri sendiri hahah. Finally got the chance to go there because someone asked me to accompany him on the third of May. That day was perfect. Not so sure.. Was it because of me being a sucker for museums and classic vintage vibe that was all over the place, was it the bright blue sky, was it the rays of sunshine, or was it you standing next to me being completely annoying and charming at the same time? #a6 #hashtagperusaksuasana
Now I know why people go to kota tua for photo hunt.
The trip to Bali on the beginning of April was not a day trip but I'm just gonna put it together here. Universe was being too nice it scares me up until now. One lesson from this trip though: never ever booked a flight that departs only couple hours after your last class is done on a Friday. Especially when your campus is in Depok. Trust me you do not want to run like an idiot inside the airport knowing that you only have 5% chance not to miss the flight. Because that's what happened to me. Didn't go out much from the hotel. It was a study trip. Lol. Wait, no, seriously, I spent my time in Bali to study for midterm.
Bali never fails to give all the energy you need.
My Long Ass Misery Ends Here
I didn’t know falling out of love could bring such a great damage to someone’s life, until it happened to me. After meeting DA again back in early 2012, for the first time in my life I felt love was real. Long story short, after about one and a half year of a great journey I went through with him, he cheated on me. When I found out, not to exaggerate this, but if my life were a cup of coffee, well, that cup of coffee just fell off a table and broke into gazillion pieces. My world shattered into pieces. Second half of 2013 (and a bit of the first quarter of 2014) was definitely the lowest point in my life so far. I lost 15 pounds, my GPA went free falling, and I’m not too shy to admit that I once tried to hurt myself unconsciously. I lost my self confidence and self respect.
Bodohnya, after I found out about it, I didn’t call it off. I tried to think that the mistake was on me and never his. It was me with all my flaws and whatnots. I stayed with him for a couple months after that while there was additional rumor going around..
In early December 2013, we broke up nicely. Through a short midnight phone call with no hesitation. By then yang meyakinkan gue untuk lepas dari dia adalah karena semesta dengan caranya yang unik berhasil kasih liat ke gue bagaimana seharusnya one treats his/her other half decently.
Few months after the broke up, akhirnya gue dapet firm confirmation about the whole naked truth. That rumor I said in the previous paragraph? yup. That turned out to be true. Unfortunately they did got physical that far. If you know what I mean. Altho udah putus pas tau kenyataannya, my heart still breaks when I heard it. In The Fault in Our Stars John Green wrote “You don’t get to choose if you get hurt in this world…but you do have some say in who hurts you.” I thought I could still like my choice even after what happened. But that night, knowing that he did it with her, I was wrong. It’s DA I’m talking about. No one would’ve believed that he could do such mean thing like that to me. I thought he was different. But he was just another jerk.
Despite everything that was too much for me to handle already, ada satu hal yang sampai detik ini masih sangat menganggu gue. I’m fully aware of the fact that gue suka jadi bahan omongan sama beberapa anak Komunikasi 2013 which happen to be friends with DA. Funny thing is, I believe they have no idea of what actually happened behind.
They started talking about me because there was this one time, I sent a message to this girl named M. I told her nicely about how I didn’t feel comfortable about the friendship between DA and M. And there was also this one time I talked to this girl named H about how I didn’t feel comfortable with her post on a social media mentioning my name in her inside joke pointing out that I’ve hurt DA.
I just wish they know why I came up to them like that in the first place.
DA never mentioned about M in front of me and suddenly knowing that they hang out a lot from other people hurt so bad. Surprising lah ternyata setelah ketauan selingkuh, temenan sama cewek aja masih gak mau kasih tau. Preventing shit from happening twice, I sent M a polite message yang ternyata malah jadi bahan omongan. Another case with H happened after DA and I broke up. I wish she knows how much it hurt when I saw her so called inside joke. Because duh, me hurting DA? seriously, H? Semakin jadi bahan omongan lah gue malah dibilangnya ngelabrak. Jelas-jelas ngomong baik-baik..
I know right? What is this drama I’m living in?
Kalau aja mereka yang ngomongin gue or like to make fun of me tau cerita gue dan DA dari awal sampe akhir. Lol. Taruhan sama gue they would feel sorry for all the bad things they’ve said about me.
My urgency to write down this whole thing is because gue gak nyaman dengan kondisi dimana gue tau ada orang di luar sana pernah atau suka ngomongin sesuatu padahal mereka gak tau sama sekali background dari hal tersebut. And last on top of all, I need to spill out the truth. Everybody deserves to know the truth.
To my dear DA, I know you will never have the guts to make an apology to me. I now know all your lies back then. Be it to me, or to the other girl. Sure you know who is this other girl I’m talking about right now. I understand that you were just being human. We all were just being human. We made mistakes. If you’re reading this by any chance, I just want to let you know that I forgive you. I wish you can stop pretending that things ever happened. I wish you can stop lying to people around you. Especially, stop lying to yourself. However, thank you for the pain. It makes me stronger.
“Someday you’re gonna look back on this moment of your life as such a sweet time of grieving. You’ll see that you were in mourning and your heart was broken, but your life was changing…” -Elizabeth Gilbert
Year End Trip 2013 + New Year Trip 2014 (a very late post)
December 28th – January 3rd
I have planned this trip a month before.. Actually, at first it supposed to be a family holiday tapi rencananya gue extend sendiri. But in the end my family canceled the plan and so I left without them. What came as a surprise to me was when my friend, Sang Won Lee or Sam for short, who resides in Korea told me that he was going back to Indonesia for a visit and wanted to come along with me to Bali and stay together in our friend’s house, Iyas. Jadi seru deh gak sendiri-sendiri amet kaya biasa. And so we took a night flight on December 28th. My stay in Bali lasted for 7 days. So far it was my most relaxing vacay ever and also my longest stay there. It was FUN. Mungkin karena udah lama gak jalan-jalan sama temen :’) But nothing really special though hahah. I mean like it’s Bali.. going there annually sorta ruined the excitement of going there again and again. Nonetheless, it was still great. The first three days there we went to different beaches everyday but ever since new year’s eve it kept raining so for the rest of the days there kita cuma jalan-jalan aja. Most of the times malah stay inside the house, swim, eat, sleep, and swim again. We went to Ubud to try babi guling ibu oka, went to Blanco Renaissance Museum, visited Symon’s art studio that took my breath away, and chilled in a nice coffee shop nearby paddy fields. Sadly we didn’t make the best out of our new year’s eve, tickets to potato head were sold out and however, even if there were tickets for us, it would cost us $150 :/ sama kaya kalau di Mulia, yakali banget. So we went to W, but because Sam and Iyas were wearing shorts, we couldn’t get in. So the three of us agreed just to have a fine new year’s eve dinner and then go back home after that. Gak sedih sih sebenernya haha karena kita bertiga were too tired anyways. Shouldn’t have gone to Ubud and went out at night right on the previous day I guess. Sam left Bali on January 2nd while I Left Bali on the 3rd.
more photos: here on my facebook.
January 3rd – January 4th
I took a morning flight to Surabaya and my dear friend Luqman picked me up at the airport. It was my first time to visit Surabaya and I had no idea about what I wanted to see/do there so I let Luqman took me wherever he wanted to take me that day. First, we went to pick up our friend Kukuh in his campus and had lunch in Bebek Kayu Tangan which was so so so good. I swear I would go back to Surabaya just to eat there again. And then the rest of the day we just went here and there to accompany Luqman who was busy taking care of stuffs that needed to be done. While inside the car, I told them how I actually wanted to go to Bromo but I knew it would be impossible because I didn’t have enough time. BUT THEN they granted my wish and we left Surabaya before midnight and suddenly... ta-da
We left bromo and arrived in Surabaya around lunch time. Picked Baskara and Sonny up from the airport and five of us went to Malang later that afternoon. We were all tired sampe akhirnya malemnya juga udah gak sempet explore Malang not even to go for a dinner in a recommended local food place.
January 5th – January 7th
On January 5 in the morning I left Malang with train to head off to Jogja. It was my first experience on going from one city to another with a train haha. As soon as I arrived in Jogja I went to Kampoeng Djawa hostel which was very nice, cheap, and located in a strategic area surrounded by lovely cafes/food place. Three hours later my friend Egi arrived and we had dinner in Via Via. The next day we checked out on Jogja Biennale, Taman Sari, and Ngetun beach. On the third day we were supposed to go to Borobudur temple to see the sunrise BUT because we couldn’t get up on time, (hahaha this is something that always happen to me at any occasion) we only went to Keraton because we had no idea where else to go. We left Jogja at night and arrived in Bandung on the next day early in the morning.
day trip to Dieng
Started out because I had days off before, on, and after Idul Adha. I thought why should I stay home for the next three days if I can just go somewhere. So I googled some destinations. I wanted to go to Lampung but I don’t think I really want it after all. After that, I thought of going to Kiluan bay but from what I read it seems quiet unreachable for me to go there alone. So finally, I decided to go to Dieng because it’s not too far and very affordable. With only 10 minutes research over people’s blogs, I called this bus company and got myself a bus ticket to Wonosobo.
The next day, on 14 October 2013, I went to Lebak Bulus bus terminal and left Jakarta at 5pm. It took around 11 hours until the Bus arrived in Wonosobo. So it was 5 in the morning on the 15th when I got there. I asked the bus driver to drop me off in plaza Wonosobo and so he did. Just right when I got off, a man stood nearby was yelling “dieng dieng” so I came over him and he pointed a minibus that will take me to Dieng. I decided to ate gudeg by the street first before I finally got in to the minibus. The minibus left plaza Wonosobo at around 5.40 and I arrived in Dieng Plateau at 6.30 I guess.. Can’t really remember how long it took me to get there but it wasn’t that long. The minibus cost me 15.000/20.000.. I can’t also remember how much it was precisely hahah.
view along the way
After I got off, I just followed the direction from someone that I asked. Turned out, Ied Adha pray (that just so happened to took place on the court in front of the temple complex’s front gate) wasn’t finished yet so I had to wait for 10 minutes until I can finally got into the temple complex.
Later after the pray finished, I bought an entry ticket (which I also forget how much did it cost) and started to walk around..
photos from arjuna temple complex
I continued walking to Sikidang crater which was already included in the ticket I bought. The walk from the temple complex to the crater was quiet far. You can take ojek if you don’t want to walk though

Sikidang Crater!
fried potato.. one of the signature foods yang dijual disana. p.s: harus beli oleh2 carica yang banyak plus cobain mie ongklok juga
From the crater I used ojek to go to telaga warna. This one is excluded from the first ticket so I bought another entry ticket. After I walked around, I hiked uphill to see telaga warno from above.. it was beautiful.
bagus ya?

After I’m done with all the sightseeing I went back to plasa wonosobo by the minibus and took angkot from there to Mendolo bus terminal to get back to Jakarta.

The bus from Wonosobo to Jakarta also leaves at 5pm and I arrived in Jakarta safely on the 16th. Practically, it was only a day trip. It’s just that it took quiet some times to get there by bus. If only I had more time I would have stayed overnight there and go up to mount prau for sure.. maybe next time though.
the whole trip cost me less than 350 thousand rupiah.
Lombok part 2: Gili Trawangan
I broke a promise I made on my last post which is to make a post about this soon tapi yaudahlahya.
On August 18, my friends and I stayed in Damas’ house the whole day. We were all tired, literally can’t feel our feet, and all of us got heavy sunburned that hurt us so badly. On the next morning, August 19, a minibus was ready in front of Damas’ house to take all of us to Bangsal port. This time, we did not forget to buy sunblocks since all of us already got hurt because of the recent sunburn, none of us wanted to risk our skin for a greater pain. We got into a small boat that cost 12 thousand rupiah per person to reach Gili Trawangan. When we got there we walked for 10 minutes to reach Mawar bungalow. We stayed there for 3D2N. I shared a room with Ersy and Cesa, and the price I have to pay for my stay there was only around 300 thousand rupiah (for 3D2N) I guess.. I’m not sure cause I forgot. But anyways, if you’re on a budget trip you can find A LOT of cheap homestay in Gili that will only cost you 100k/night. My room was ok I think, it was a double bed fan-cooled room with an open bathroom. I love it cause every time I went to the bathroom I ‘d always look up and all I see was green trees and blue sky. It was safe, trust me no one will ever try to take a peek on you.
After I got into the room, rest myself for a while and charged my phone, I went out to have lunch.. as usual, alone. Later I explored some of the nice cafes and restaurants. Foods and beverages in Gili are overpriced but you can also find cheap warung nasi or go to night market for dinner (located near Gili’s port). They sell seafood and various of tasty Indonesian foods there with friendly price. The stupid thing was that I thought Gili is a small island, but turned out it’s quiet big. It took me some time walking to get to the sunset beach. That night, after having dinner at the night market and took another rest, I went out again to have some fun. There's not so much to tell about my stay in Gili.. All I did was enjoying my time there. Went to the beach, took a nap there, read a book, thinking, eat gelato, rent a bike, snorkeling, swim, and yeah that's that.
cheers to the great lyfe!
very romantic isn't it?
I eat gelato on every vacation :/
Gili was very nice. I really like the ambience of the island. It's not too big and not too small, there's a crowded fun area and the remote area, all I'm trying to say is that Gili Trawangan has a great proportion of everything. And I'm definitely going back there this year as the start of my backpacking trip to Papua on August. Hopefully everything will run smooth.
it's the sunburn, not tanned
last, let me introduce you to these two strong and lovely girls.. Cesa and Ersy <3
Lombok part 1: Mount Rinjani!
Yes I know I always make a late post on everything haha but I hope you’ll like this one and I also hope this will encourage your wanderlust or hopefully you can find few information that you need to know (if not then you can always ask me here)
p.s.: I have no idea why all the pictures are in low-res :( I wish you can see all the photo files from Lombok that I have in my laptop. Ha.
August 14, 2013 – Six in the morning a taxi arrived in front of my house. I have waited a month since the time I bought the plane ticket for this trip and finally the day came. I sat in the airport's waiting room while reading a newspaper and eating my favorite snack, pocky banana. Not so long until a couple friend of mine came and the final call for boarding was announced. After the two hours flight, we arrived in LOP (Lombok Int’l Airport). Got pick up with a car that took us straight to our local friend’s house, Damas, in the main street of Mataram, Udayana. When we got there some of our friends have arrived there earlier but we all still have to wait for some other who haven’t arrived. After spending about 11 hours resting in Damas’ house, a big truck took all of us to go to Sembalun. A three hours trip from Mataram to Sembalun in the middle of the night was beautiful, never in my I’ve seen SO MANY stars in the sky like that, it was fuckloads. It was like dandruff all over the night sky.
Great morning for a great start of this great trip.
Mataram!
August 15, 2013 – We got to sembalun at three in the morning and slept for 3 hours until the sun rose. At 9 we started to ride the pick up truck that will take us to the farthest point where a car can go. And well when we got off, we started walking. The first impression of Rinjani was: it’s Narnia. Definitely. Except it’s very dry like crazy. So I’ve heard it is a dry mountain, I thought it’s all gonna be like lacking of water source but hell not only that, the dryness pretty much means “savanna” as in no motherfuckin trees. What remained after that was the sunburned I got because of it. Ugh. Anyways, let’s continue.. after hours and hours of walking thru the savanna, passed couple shelter to take a break, at 5ish, we decided to camp near the third shelter. It was almost sunset, and boy was I in a dream or what, it was one of the best sunset I’ve ever seen. By that time, I started to feel sick. My lips started to puff and my body heat increased drastically. So I stayed inside the tent the whole night. Didn’t even help the guys with the dinner.
Di kaki gunung aja udah kaya gini :’)

SURREAL.
Da Sunset.
August 16, 2013 – the first night in Rinjani passed, and I woke up to a beautiful sunrise AND a very hideous condition of my lips. It got worse and the pain was unbearable. At 10 in the morning we continued the journey of going up the mountain. In an ugly condition I had to push myself to put my shit back altogether. I got to Plawangan (the last camp area before summit) in only 4 hours. While most of everyone else in my group needed 7 hours to get there. But then again, I was only carrying around 19kg on my back. Compared to the guys who had to carry more than 23kg on their back. This is the first time I get to feel the effect of doing physic preparation before, HA. I still clearly remember my first summit to Mt. Gede and how I felt I didn’t do enough work out for it while I actually did. Arrived in Plawangan at 2pm with only 2 of my friends, we had to wait for another 4 hours until everyone else started to showed up. And still I haven’t gotten better at that time. Went straight to the tent and sleep. Again, I couldn’t help them with dinner :/ I felt really bad about it cause there were only 2 girls out of 22 person in the group and it should’ve been our responsibility to cook… but oh well.
Da Sunrise.
Da Humans and Da Clouds at Plawangan!
August 17, 2013 – 1am in the middle of the night, everyone started to hike up for going to the top summit. It was cold as fuck. It was like winter cold. I wore FOUR layers of thick warm clothes. One long ham, and three effin thick jackets. And for a second I thought how am I going to survive winter days in Europe later :| it took 4 hours for me just to reach around 3500 meters above sea level and I stopped there. while everyone continued going up. Although I didn’t make it to the top 3726masl I’m still proud of what myself can do. After I enjoyed the solitude moment up there, I was the first to get back to the tent. My condition only got worse and worse so I decided to go down the mountain right away.. alone. Because everyone else were still at the summit and what I know at that moment was all my friends were still going to spend another night taking the Senaru way to go down so they can enjoy one night in Segara Anak (a beautiful big lake at Rinjani). Then I went down alone within FOUR hours. In the middle of the way of going down, I joined a group of foreign tourists that turned out did not come from the same place. They were a bunch of backpackers that teamed up before going up to Rinjani. We shared a lot of stories and there was the moment I realize that they know about some places in Indonesia better than I do. Shame on me, I couldn’t name so many interesting international festivals and amazing tourism sites. They even know better about few remote destinations here. So anyways, after we arrived in Sembalun and separated, I went back to Damas’ house in Mataram with a pick up that I paid for 150k. It was far and I was the only passenger, if I weren’t a sick girl they probably charged me with higher price..
I swear this was priceless..
The view from my tent. CAN I GO BACK UP THERE WITHOUT HAVING TO HIKE FOR HOURS? (T_T)
The money I spent until August 17 was the plane ticket that cost me 1.8 million rupiah and 150 thousand rupiah to take part in paying the food we bought for all of us for going up to Rinjani. Didn’t spend any money on mountaineering equipments cause I’ve had all the things since I was in high school and luckily my friends and I also didn’t have to spend money on accommodation during our stay in Lombok because Damas’ parents who happen to be very generous let us stayed in their house and arranged all the transportation for us. I only spent loads of money ever since we stepped our feet in Gili Trawangan which will be on my next post. I’ll be sure to make a post about my stay in Gili soon. I swear. See you real soon :)
it's not too long since my last trip to Lombok, but I already miss sensing the smell of the sea, the cold air on the top of the mountain, and I.. I just hate it here. Been listening to this for 142536x these past few days.
anyways, can't promise to finish my Lombok trip post anytime soon. uni is killing me.
Backpacking trip to Sawarna
So I finally have something to be written on my blog!
Rencana berangkat subuh cuma jadi wacana.
(masih dapet sunrise.. pemandangan kalau buka pintu kamar)
(view along the way)
Naik deh keatas.. aaaand tada!
(I can see pantai pasir putih from up here)
(ditengah jalan berenti dulu liat pantai pasir putih sama tanjung layar)
(playing around in pantai pulau manuk before leaving)
Udah puas main dan foto-foto self timer, lanjut naik motor lagi ke terminal Bayah. Lagi-lagi, ditengah jalan kita berenti. Kali ini Fahmi mau nunjukin tempat nongkrong dia sama temen-temennya pas SMA hahah. Kita parkir motor literally dipinggir jalan raya (yang dimana itu sepi banget) terus lagi-lagi gue naik bukit but this time not too high.
I didn't get the chance to waste a lot of my time playing in the beach, but the mesmerizing views I got to see definitely made my short trip.
officially a young-adult now? ha.
(8th & 9th March)
Pictures above show one of the things that keeps me alive: wonderful companions. Never thought I would get five surprises on my birthday (too bad I didn't take any picture when Danau came to my house). Words can't express my love for each of you, dear friends! Turning 18, somehow felt really special. Cause like, "WOHOO I AM LEGAL" but then knowing that I am now considered as an adult, there comes a bigger responsibility. Things only get harder as you grow older and no matter how bad that sounds, I should be ready for whatever it is that may come along the way. To end this post, I'd like to thank everyone who sent me beautiful birthday wishes thru any kinds of messenger and social media <3
two days one night trip to Pulau Pramuka
During the one and a half month semester break, my friends and I decided to go out of town for couple days. And so we did. The trip to Pramuka Island was fun. We left pelabuhan Muara Angke near Tanjung Priuk around 8 in the morning on January 9 with a traditional boat (I guess). Not a small one though.
After sailing the sea for almost two hours, we got there. And I must say it was out of my expectation.. It's nicer than my imagination. It's not an island with white sand beach, cause there's no beach. But really, it's nice.
Once we got there, the guide led us to our home where we stayed and then we had lunch. After lunch, we rode a bike to look around the island.
Later, we went to see some sharks and snorkeling :D
When we got back to the island, I chose to spent my afternoon sitting here while eating bakso and indomie..
The next day, January 10, we left the island when it gets sunny :C (cause ever since we arrived, it was very windy and cloudy)
The very beginning of 2013
I love you guys to death.
Pekan Seni Rupa FIB UI 2012 - "CONTEMPO"
Karena kalau disatuin sama post yang Untold stories of my daily life on the second half of 2012 bakal kepanjangan, jadi gue bikin post sendiri untuk review sekilas event ini. I hope this would be a good start to motivates me to create more and more. Here goes some photos
And here's my photograph that I submitted.. Judul foto ini salah ketik dari panitianya :|
Di penutupan Contempo, gue perform nari seperti yang udah gue certain di post Untold stories of my daily life on the second half of 2012, itulah pertama kalinya gue nari dibayar. Dari mulai ikut pameran sampe hobi menghasilkan uang, slowly but sure my dreams start to become real :)
