People From Classic Paintings Inserted Into Modern City Life
this is my favorite thing
The Seven Sisters Waterfall, Norway via
hey guys can you help me find that old portrait of a girl holding a little painting of a naked dude and cracking up about it?? I want to say it’s by Rembrandt but that’s probably not right
It’s “Smiling Girl, a Courtesan, Holding an Obscene Image” by Gerard van Honthorst!!
It’s the best painting that exists
idk this self-portrait Michael Sweerts did is a pretty high contender
that is a good and valid point. thank you
I want to see a story about best mates smiling girl and michael pointing at porn and sticking their fingers on random objects for fun

This moment from George Balanchine’s Rubies has to be at just the right angle to achieve this iconic pose. It can get tricky because you dive into it leaning from the opposite direction. My partner has to planted in the ground and give me just the right amount of tension so I can feel secure while looking daring. Patricia McBride was the original for this role and it’s important to her that there is a sense of fearlessness. Mr. Balanchine apparently used to say that the pas should feel a bit like the old 42nd Street. You feel the danger in the dives and trust falls after your balances. - Alessandra Ball James
