“Ass, grass or gas, baby. Pick one.”
“Gotta say I’m tempted by ass.”
“Don’t you even try to pretend I’m gonna outlive you. No way. You get my fingers, ‘cause I’m gonna die first.”
“You can’t say that. I could die first.”
“It’s all luck at this point.”

۵ my muse kisses yours to shut them up
He’s a little out of it, that much is obvious. Andrea’s known Daryl long enough to know that he’s never this open when he’s sober. It makes her sad, in her own way, to know that it takes a couple of drinks to make him smile at her in that real way she’s only see a few times. Sometimes she thinks Daryl Dixon is kind of amazing.
And sometimes, rarely, she thinks he is just so annoying.
She can’t even make out what he’s talking about, the words are too fast and his accent is making them jumble together and even nudging him with her foot and saying his name doesn’t slow him down.
“Daryl.”
He glances up just in time to watch her crouch down, balancing on the balls of her feet, and he’s stuttering his words before her lips even press to his.
The look of shock on his face is worth it.
“Just shut up, will you?”
“I was a history teacher” He almost laughed at the memory. He hated being a teacher but he loved history, he loved learning about all the things that happened in the past. No one really cared about it anymore which saddened him. He loved just spouting random facts at people, it made him feel important. Mostly people just told him to shut up nowadays.
“What about you?”
She smiles herself, even the memory of boring lectures and training days in court a bright spot before all of this. “Lawyer, if you can believe. Civil rights. Not a degree I get much use out of now.”
“Thinking about it is weird. Like why would I take the time you know? Should have gone to the gun range instead.”
“——— We gotta.” He didn’t want to bring up Woodbury but it weighed heavy on his mind. What if this turned out to be the exact same thing? — It wasn’t as if their collective luck with ‘safe zones’ was anything but bad. “They don’t want us to have too much power here. That much is obvious.”
“Because they have no idea.”
She could see it on their faces, they way they acted as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening outside the walls. They had dinner parties, while others had to kill to survive.
“I want this to work, we deserve this. ----but we need to be ready in case it doesn’t.”
Beth furrowed her brow and shifted uncomfortably. After a moment she nodded and glanced down at her firearm.
“Okay. So, how do I do this then?”
“First things first, you are always careful with a gun. You always assume it’s loaded, you never point it at something you don’t want to shoot.”
Andrea takes a step to the side, pulling her own handgun out and holding it with both hands as an example to the younger girl.
“Naw, you’re just special. But I ain’t cuttin’ off any fingers for ya. Not yet.”
“Color me flattered.”
“What’re you going to give me instead, then? I demand payment.”
“I dunno, if you were bein’ a twat, I’d prolly flip you off.”
“That’s fair.”
“I get to flip you off if you’re being a douchebag. ------Are you going to steal my middle fingers when I die?”
“Appreciate it. I wanna go out in the fields… If it’s—- clear. Safe. Y’know.”
“Me too. I’m glad you guys are doin’ okay. It’ll—- it’ll all get better. I can feel it. Somehow, it will. God takes care of us, in His way.”
“I think the fields are cleared out, if any stragglers got in I can take care of us.”
Faith is a rare thing these days. Andrea cant say she believes in much of anything like a higher power, but if Beth does it’s not her place to take that away from her.
“Yeah, that’s just unheard of.” There was definitely a sarcastic undertone to her voice, despite it being calm and nearly monotone. Michonne was reminded of the bed Andrea picked over a friend, and suddenly went silent as she began walking to the town.
It might be easy for others to miss the shift in her attitude, but Andrea knew Michonne. She could see it.
“--What do you miss most? About before?”
