A while back, I made this tree-skirt for my little artificial Christmas tree. I cut the skeletons out of white acrylic felt, then sewed them to the red fabric base. I am really proud of the skeleton trim on the edge!

A fancy frame for a fancy fish (I just made the frame - the paper-cutting I bought in San Francisco's Chinatown ages ago).

T-shirt stencil experiments continue! I made this one not long after watching Penguindrum the second time.

Rainbow drip tray! The colorful pieces are all scrap cutouts from previous laser projects. It's the perfect size for a french press and a beaker of steamed milk.

Another part of the workshop re-org: tool holders for pliers, needle files, and tweezers.

I did a big re-org of my workshop last summer and part of it was installing and decorating this corner shelf (originally a built-in shelf in the house, now repurposed in the garage).

I painted the shelf border blue, then cut the designs out of cardstock and painted them green and red and pink. Gluing the cardstock to the wood mostly worked, although I did have to get pretty creative with clamps to get them to stick (notice that the hummingbird which should be in the upper right corner is missing; I've since glued it back on).

I also did. so! much! sorting! as part of the clean-up. It's been worth it though - everything is so much easier to find now that everything is sorted with similar things together rather than squirreled away in random groupings and spread all over the shop.

Step 1 to becoming really good at inking manga is clearly to make a fancy tray to hold my tools. I am not sure what step 2 is, but I'll update if I ever figure it out. :)

Experimenting with craft foam to make rubber stamps. Not bad! I don't have any ink pads that aren't horribly dried up, but the Sharpie marker did well enough for me to test out the design.

Here is one of the decorative kickplates I made for some cabinets. This design is fun, because I can only really see it when I'm crawling around on the floor to pick something up. The novelty hasn't worn off yet since I look at it so rarely!

I saw it again today and that reminded me it's been a while since I've updated my laser-bee tag. I'm going to queue up some older projects while I've got momentum.

A quick project to organize a trio of charger cables.

Today I made some Mesoamerican moon rabbit art!

I am getting ready for July 20th (moon landing day) and was browsing around for something I could paint to add to my seasonal decor.

I combined these two images and used the laser to etch them on the board:

Then I tried out a new painting technique. I am shocked and delighted by how well it turned out!

I emptied out my ‘crayons and markers’ drawer in search of a new medium. Everything either went on super light or smudged way too easily! The downside of the hydrophobic plastic surface of these old melamine-laminated particle board shelves is that they are designed to resist stains and stray marks! On the other hand, I do have approximately 37 billion of the stupid things so I’m not risking anything precious when I experiment.

Eventually, I fell back on my trusty acrylic paints. I played around a bit first rather than just slap them on full strength as usual (with the inevitable uneven coverage), which was worthwhile! What I ended up liking best was diluting the paint so much that it pooled and puddled weirdly. By being so much messier, it looks so much more intentional, I think!

OP, your lightbox is so gorgeous!! I have been admiring this for about a year and today I decided to try my hand at recreating one for my own enjoyment. I didn’t quite manage the impressive high dynamic range of your piece, but I’m pleased nonetheless with how it came out. Thank you for sharing the layer photos!
