naley? my babies are the best married couple in all of fictional existence. they’re so good and pure and above all? fucking realistic. she got pregnant in high school. he did Not react well at first. they had struggles. they separated, they argued, they disagreed and they got mad at each other. she left to go on tour and he was understandably upset and felt betrayed but he was STILL proud of her. nanny carrie tried to get him to cheat and he pushed her away. haley walked in on it and misunderstood obviously. they went to couples therapy. they started TALKING to each other again. they both put their son first. they’re best friends. they support each other fucking endlessly. they will always jump to the other’s defense. they went through at least two rough patches. he got depressed after his accident and she was there for him even though it was hurting her and when she threatened to leave for jamie’s sake he got his shit together. i love them So fucking much. they’re superior?? to every other couple in fiction
and? they’re honest with each other. it took some time, but they are. when haley was upset that nathan was watching porn, she came clean about her insecurities and told him she thought he’d compare her to the porn stars and he was so understanding about it. when nathan said (in therapy) that he thinks haley no longer finds him attractive after his wheel chair splint, she didn’t tell him he was stupid for it or anything. they worked on trusting each other again first and then making it clear they were still attracted to one another. during renee claiming nathan slept with her, haley trusted him. did it falter? honestly? yeah, it did. and it was a result of the carrie thing. but she stood by him. when she wanted to go on tour again? he supported her doing it even though it meant he would be playing in the nba in spain alone while she and jamie were on tour until they could see him. he made a map of all the places his wife and son could go because he WANTED that for her. for them. for his family.
and james lucas scott is a BIG part of naley. that’s their son. he’s the FIRST thing on their mind when they wake up. when jamie was traumatized by the pool/drowning incident, they both dropped their shit to try to help their son realize they would never let that happen again. they spent an entire day just lazing and swimming with him because they hated the thought of him being scared of something he LOVED to do. when he got mad because everyone (lucas, peyton, skills, his grandpa on haley’s side who died) was leaving, they took their time to explain that no matter where anyone went, they would always love him. when quentin died, and jamie was absolutely heartbroken just as his parents were, they allowed him to finish the cape he was making for him, that was buried for quentin. they both explained that he had died because they thought it was important they do it together. and when lydia was born, they made sure jamie knew they didn’t love him any less. essentially, naley as parents is major naley development
