DRAGON TRAINER HIGH SCHOOL FANZINE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Huzzah and well met, traveler!
We’re Microsatan and Jason Poland. You might know us from our respective endeavorers: the newest comedic art collective in Houston, Texas, and the webcomic, Robbie and Bobby. We’re happy to announce the opening of submissions for The Dragon Trainer High School Fanzine!
Dragon Trainer High School is a fictitious young adult fantasy franchise about a high school shared by dragons and dragon riders. Apart from that, nothing is canon. This is an open world fantasy where YOU build the world, together with the rest of the Internet, one piece of fanfiction at time!
Pretend you’re a Young Adult (if you aren’t already) who has just discovered a little-known paperback in your school’s library. On its cover is another Young Adult much like yourself, riding a dragon. You can tell they are the best of friends. The title reads: DRAGON TRAINER HIGH SCHOOL. A thrill runs up your spine as you open the book. You see an illustrated map of this new fantasy world, and a Table of Contents full of exciting titles. What adventures await inside?? Your inner eye opens and your imagination awakens. The words form as you begin to read. It’s as if this book was written just for you. Instantly, you are the biggest fan of Dragon Trainer High School. Hours pass, but to you, it feels all too brief. You finish the book, and yearn to for more! Without a second thought, you open your backpack, take out your notebook and a pencil, and begin to create…
That’s sort of the feeling we’re going for with this! The DTHS fanzine will be a collection of fanfiction comics, art, and stories about what goes on at a high school for dragons and dragon riders, but the rest is up to you! Here’s what we’re looking for are :
• Comics! • Illustrations! • Stories! • Poems! • Anything else about dragons and dragon riders sharing a fantasy high school!
Dragon Trainer High School Fanzine Guidelines:
• Submissions should be no larger than 5 inches x 8 inches. • Files should be 300 dpi, black and white, and .tiff or PDF format. • Your submission should be no more than 4 pages please! • In the email of your submission, please include your name for credit, and any other information you’d like to be printed (url, twitter handle, etc.) • Submit all work digitally to [email protected] • The deadline for submissions is February 8th, 2016. We know that’s not a lot of time! Please don’t overthink your submission—channel your raw feelings about dragons, dragon riders, high school, fan fiction, and just go with it!
All work included in the printed zine and the tumblr will be credited according to the information included with the submission. By submitting content to DTHSF, you are allowing us the right to print it in the zine and to post it on Tumblr. All contributors included in the printed zine will receive one hard copy of the zine once it is printed, and a print quality PDF to print and sell the zine in whatever way they see fit!
