Hi there! I really, really love all the fonts you've designed, they're beautiful! But I was wondering if it's possible to change the font for the works?
Hi there! Thank you so much, I'm really glad you like them! 💖
Yes, it is absolutely possible to change the font for the works! You just need to add a small piece of CSS code to the bottom of your site skin.
Here is the code you need:
#workskin {
font-family: "Your Font Name", sans-serif !important;
}
Just replace "Your Font Name" with the exact name of the font you prefer (e.g., "Arial", "Georgia", etc.). Make sure to keep the quotation marks!
While working on my new skin, I realized I had gotten some things wrong before. I feel so stupid.
So today I updated both the Archive Card skin and the Green Lace skin. Because of this stupid mistake, even though my new skin is already finished, I still can’t release it right away 😭😭😭😭
For this one, I incorporated lace elements. I really wanted the layout to have a light and airy feel to it, so I intentionally avoided using a lot of heavy color blocks or borders.
While swapping out the rating icons, I noticed a brilliant little detail in AO3's original design: the Gen icon is actually a sun, and Other relationships is Uranus. I looked into it and learned that historically, Uranus carries a metaphor for breaking traditional gender binaries and embracing all queer/minority relationships. Using it to represent Other is honestly just so romantic. The original Multi icon is a four-color square, but since the others are celestial-themed, I replaced it with "⨁". In astronomy and astrology, ⨁ represents Earth, which feels perfectly fitting for the all-encompassing meaning of Multi. As for Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, I used a sealed box—it gives off a blind box vibe where you never know what's inside until you open it.
Also, I used to always wonder why the date occupies its own separate block on the right, which forces the title and author to squeeze together (sometimes when the page auto-translates, I can't even tell which text is the actual fic link!). But while making this skin, I finally figured it out: that space is deliberately reserved to prop open an area for the bookmark category icons!

Wrapping up the CSS for my new AO3 skin. Stuck between two palettes for the rating tags: matching them with the dark brown text, or using a retro green to break it up a bit. Which vibe do you prefer?🤔🤔
I have a question if that is alright... You have posted this some time right before you (I'm assuming) started the newest skin you've made. It looks incredibly interesting. Will you actually make a skin with it or...
Thank you! 💙
Hi! Thank you for asking. I actually originally planned to use that design for the 'Faded Gilt' skin. However, during the process, I found that it was a bit hard on the eyes and the overall reading experience wasn't very good, so I decided to scrap the idea in the end. 💙
This AO3 skin was inspired by antique books featuring elegant gold foil stamping.
Truth be told, I am not entirely satisfied with the day mode. It might not be as comfortable for extended reading as some of my past designs. However, I am absolutely in love with this purple and background color combination—it evokes the feeling of writing and sketching with purple ink on old parchment. The purple foiled motifs also carry a slightly mottled texture, as if gently faded by the passage of time. Perhaps I will update the palette if I discover a better match one day?
I actually began with the night mode and tested several color schemes. I attempted a red, gold, and black palette, but it was a miss. During the process, the contrast felt far too glaring, and the black background was suffocatingly heavy. This purple and gold, on the other hand, reminds me of the beautiful gowns of noble girls in classical oil paintings. I am truly delighted with how it finally came together.
⚙️ Quick Installation Guide
The installation process is almost identical to the famous "🌹 𝕸𝖎𝖉𝖓𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝕭𝖑𝖔𝖔𝖒 🌹" skin, but with just one extra step: the base file.
You will need to create 4 skins in total. First, create the base, the Day skin (Violet Parchment with light mode checked), and the Night skin (Gilded Velvet with dark mode checked). Finally, when creating your Master Auto-Switch Skin, add them as Parent Skins in this exact order:
Faded Gilt - base
Faded Gilt - Violet Parchment
Faded Gilt - Gilded Velvet
📌 A Quick Note
Just a quick heads-up: Since this skin is highly optimized for mobile devices, the position of some decorative assets might shift slightly if you use it on a desktop or a larger screen. Please don't mind it too much! The layout and immersive reading experience are absolutely at their most perfect on a mobile phone. 📱✨

Hi! Thank you so much for the screenshot, it helps a lot! ❤️
I just checked on my end and it works perfectly. Looking at your picture, it seems like the CSS code wasn't copied completely (sometimes missing just one bracket at the end can break the whole layout!).
To make it super easy, GitHub actually has a one-click "Copy" button! When you open the code file, just click the little icon with two overlapping squares near the top right corner of the code box. This ensures you grab 100% of the code.
Also, a quick heads-up if you are doing this on a phone: Sometimes mobile clipboards have character limits and will automatically cut off long text, causing an incomplete paste. If it still doesn't work on your phone, trying to copy and paste it on a computer usually solves the problem perfectly!
Could you try deleting your current code, copying it again, and updating the skin? Let me know if that fixes it! ✨
