Okay I think one of the contributing factors to stolas becoming a decent person despite how he was mistreated growing up is the fact that nana always encouraged him to help. They were never really supervised. They would just leave stolas with nana and didn't pay attention to how they interacted.
So while stolas had a similar upbringing to other rich/royal children he had the benefit of being put on the same level respect wise with imps and other supposedly lesser demons. He learns to be polite and respectful towards them. Nana encourages him to help her cook and clean. Getting his favorite meals and desserts as a reward.
I also think while he wasn't taught a ton in his preteen to teenage years she taught him how to cook basic meals in case she ever had to be away from him for a time. So she spoiled him to a degree yes but she also taught him how to be helpful and treat even lower demons as his equals.
Though because of his father's influence he's not perfect and can treat imps belittlingly despite meaning nothing but affection. So he's not perfect but he was given a better chance of being good than most kids in his situation.
