Once upon a time, a long time ago, a clever prince battled a crafty raven. The war went on for years and countless lives were claimed. Finally, using a forbidden power the prince removed his own heart and shattered it, sealing the raven away—only that was what should have happened. Rather, when the prince’s loyal knight learned of his plans he took it upon himself to shatter his own heart in the prince’s place. The heartless knight transformed himself into a wicked wizard and now jealously guards the prince, fearing for the day of his heart’s return and the raven’s release

Enter Duck: a young duckling, hatched alone, made a deal with a mysterious old man to become a human girl, though she can no longer remember how or why this came about. Now, nearing her 19th birthday, Duck can feel the spell slipping away. An encounter with a witch unravels her enchantment near entirely. Desperately clinging to her last slivers of humanity, Duck leaves behind everything she’s ever known in search of a moving castle and a heart-stealing wizard.
