It has been three years since I signed up on tumblr and created this account as a school assignment for a graphic design course. I told myself I would share my passion for music and creativity in this account. Although I am not as active as I would like to be, it still is nice to have a place to share my appreciation for creativity.
Grimes - Delete Forever
Today’s Music Inspires Design spotlight goes to Grimes “Delete forever” music video. Delete Forever is a part of the Miss Anthropocene album. In her interview with the New York Times she explains how Jack Kirby’s new gods title, inspired her for this album to the theme that gods depict different concepts. For instance she mentions the goddess/demon of addiction being represented in this song. The song itself is very personal to Grimes, as it comes from personal experience of loosing friends due to drug addiction.
The visual design of Delete forever was inspired by recreating a scene from Akira volume 4 which displays destruction.

Haven’t played with Photoshop in a while. So I made an appropriation to #macmiller 's #thedivinefeminine
The original album cover art was designed by Miller McCormick, Mac’s brother. My favorite songs from this album are Cinderella, Dang, Stay, Soulmate, God is fair, sexy nasty feat Kendrick Lamar. :) What are your favorite Mac songs ?
Today’s music inspires design spotlight goes to drumroll..............................
nothing, nowhere. x Travis Barker - destruction (Official Video)
First of I want to say that this song has become one of my favorite nothing nowhere songs. Second, I had to share this mv for the sake of video art inspiration for its monochromatic style. I do believe that color played a major role in the design of the video because it sets the mood of the song. Throughout the imagery you will see few colors, mostly different reds, pink followed by black and white. Although limited with color, there are various moments where the camera captures light beautifully radiating blues, magenta, and yellow. In these moments the light gives a warm lively setting compared to other scenes where the red tones are darker and give a colder vibe. This music video is a perfect example of how color can affect the composition of the music video and help translate the song visually in a successful manner.
Logic released his retirement album on July 24th 2020. I wanted to highlight Sam Spratt’s album artwork for No Pressure for today’s music inspires design spotlight.
Sam Spratt has worked on Logic’s discography art throughout the years. Everything ties in together, and so it is no surprise No Pressure is an ode to Under pressure not just musically but visually too. If you compare both album artworks they are connected. The artwork for Under Pressure features Logic in the basement, whereas No Pressure has Bobby aka Logic disintegrating in his workspace. There are definitely easter eggs hidden in the artwork but I don’t think I could properly decipher them just yet. From my own perspective I believe the disintegration visuals reflect on Logic entering a new chapter in his life, and is leaving his past behind.
Sam Spratt gives insight on his developing process for the No Pressure album art, you can read below.

NSN-On the Brightside
“You're only as tall As your heart will let you be And you're only as small As the world will make you seem”
Today’s music inspires design spotlight goes to Never Shout Never’s “On the Brightside” music video. It’s a playful animation that unfolds as the lyrical storytelling progresses. The song has an uplifting message which the animation compliments the energy of the song with its simplistic visuals.
In times like this I think it’s important to find happiness with oneself and be strong. Life can be tough but you have to find the energy to uplift your spirit and keep moving forward without reason of expecting perfection in this life or the approval of others expectations.
Given the situation of the world these words seemed best fitting. I wanted to create #typography #calligraphy art and was inspired by the lyrics from #joeybadass land of the free song. This particular quote derives from #biggiesmalls though.
TODAY’S MUSIC INSPIRES DESIGN SPOTLIGHT GOES TO:
Alex Wiley - Vibration
This video in particular is a perfect example of the art of motion design. It consists of very colorful animated visuals. Mid way through the video kinetic typography is introduced.

Todays Music Inspires Design Spotlight goes to Travis Scott’s Fornite virtual concert held on April 23-25th. This was a very unique experience where gamers and music fans collided and shared one platform together. The graphics were beyond amazing, and perfectly complimented the songs. During the concert when each song transitioned a new environment was presented for the players. The visual and audio experience as a whole was cohesive and worked beautifully with Travis Scotts Astro World theme.

Bring Me The Horizon - sugar honey ice & tea mv is today’s Music Inspires Design Spotlight! This particular video serves as creative inspiration for its intense visual presence and amount of detail. The video is a collage of videos, for it consists of multiple media forms layered into one. I appreciate the use of color, text, graphics, animation, and style variation. For any creative artist out there, if you are ever running out of editing ideas, this is your go to video.
Kanye West - Good Morning
Todays music inspires design spotlight goes to Takashi Murakami for his collaboration with various musical artists implementing his art through music videos, album cover art, and merchandise.
Kanye West’s Good morning music video is one of my favorite works from Takashi. The artwork is full of color, consists of adorable characters, and a story that keeps you entertained throughout the animation. This precise music video has inspired me to embrace my playful and colorful artwork style, and gives me the confidence that cartoon art can definitely be taken seriously.
Other music projects Takashi has worked on are Kids See Ghosts album cover which is a collaboration between Kanye West and Kid Kudi. Murakami worked with Billie Eilish on her music video “You should see me in a crown”, where his iconic anime like characters are displayed. Last but not least he recently teamed up with J Balvin on his Colores album, where Takashi’s signature flower is used throughout the album’s theme.
Mac Miller - Blue World
“Hey, one of these days we'll all get by, Don't be afraid, don't fall in line”
Today’s music inspires design spotlight goes to the entire music video collection for Mac Miller’s Circles. Since the first music video that came out of the latest album I fell in love with the visual graphics, and cohesive visual aesthetic that is present throughout the entire video collection. All of them capture Mac’s unforgettable charisma and unique traits that made him who he was. What I personally love about the videos is how there is a combination of different mediums such as real images, video footage, and animation to make one piece of artwork come to life. The videos create a unique experience that encompasses Mac’s music and whole self.
I created this animated illustration in honor of Mac Miller’s birthday. I am beyond thankful for the art he created. Mac Miller was a passionate soul when it came to the music he created. I will always admire his dedication and love for music. We love you Mac Miller.
Meg Myers - Running Up That Hill [Kate Bush Cover] Stream "Running Up That Hill" on all platforms: https://ffm.to/ruth Connect with Meg Myers: Site: http://m...
Today’s music inspires design spotlight goes to Meg Myers music video for her song “Running up That Hill”. The video is beautiful, and eye-catching. It captures the viewer throughout the whole time with its mesmerizing colors and constant change in motion. I was amazed at the creative approach taken and for this reason it serves as creative inspiration for how music and other forms of art come together.
Today’s music inspires design spotlight goes to my twenty one pilots poster entry for the Creative Allies contest. The poster was designed specifically for the trench album, which I included hidden symbols and meaning. The illustration reflects the songs lyrically, and visually.
I’ve been a fan of twenty one pilots since they released Vessel. I discovered the group through the first Creative Allies art contest they held. The very first song I listened to was Car Radio and immediately fell in love. Since then I’ve appreciated the entire discography they have released and also Tyler’s earlier music projects. I will always be inspired to create, and use their music to fuel my creativity |-/.
