Shuichi never means to be so visibly nervous around Kyoko: but not was she his upperclassman, but also a fellow detective? It made him look up to her very much.

Not in a million years would Shuichi compare his skills to hers, wishing he could be even half as great as her. Though he knows she wouldn’t want him to compare himself to her, Shuichi truly didn’t think he could become as skilled as her. So for her to try giving him encouragement: it felt like an honor.

“Th-Thank you very much, senpai: I will try not to be so nervous around you. It’s just that, I really look up to you, so…I feel really lucky to be encouraged and helped by you.”

“It’s all right. You don’t need to thank me.” she allowed herself to chuckle a bit, amused. The boy still had a lot to learn and, with her guidance, she was sure he’d make a lot of progress in no time.

Kirigiri understood why the young boy was acting like this because of his probably traumatic past. However, as she stated, there was no need for him to do so. She was a changed person and she was certain the same applied to him since they enrolled together at Hope’s Peak. Gradually, she hopes he will come to understand that.
