I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how frustrated I am with social media in the sense that not only do I hate that my attention is a product, but also that it has manipulated me into thinking that I am a brand and that I need to advertise myself on my social media accounts in some way. And while I am super aware of that, I also find it surprisingly hard to let go.
I’ve been thinking for weeks about (trying to) get back to the basics; removing my real name and using a made-up username instead, not analyzing what I post where and when and whether it fits into the ‘aesthetic’. Just carelessly reblogging the posts I like, and not worrying about whether the little bit of art I post will bring me success or not.
It’s really just a small step, and yet I can’t seem to take it.

Zelfportret (onafgewerkt) Grafietpotlood in schetsboek ©2024
