unwanted intruders were oddly common, which irritated shirin greatly. she was a person who didn’t really appreciate interruptions, so it was only natural that she was quite vexed. even despite her irritation, shirin didn’t have the heart to say the somewhat malicious words forming in her mind – she did like her colleagues and complicated relationship in workplaces never ended well. “apology accepted – do remember to knock the next time?” she settled for amiable words and a tight smile. in truth, it was always a pleasure when someone brought her treats, so her irritation was gradually vanishing already. “how kind of you to think of me, ms. solom. it’s much appreciated – i definitely need something to cheer me up after today’s lessons.” she sighed.

“I promise that I will,” Naomi smiled sweetly, she’d become a little too used to barging into Andy’s lectures whenever she felt like it that she’d just about forgotten that not ever professor was as blasé as Andy. “Well, I always think of you--uh, well, not of you--but I mean I always think of others. I--it’s no big deal.” She coughed, “Were your lessons bad? Did the students do something?” She asked with concern, handing over a slice of homemade chocolate brownie cheesecake in a glass container. And, of course, a spoon.

“can you wait for a second – i just finished a lesson.” usually professor shirin talebi does not put up with intruders, but she’s in a good mood and willing to forgive. she finishes buttoning up her shirt and then looks at the person with the usual withering glare. “how can i help you.” a statement, not a question.

“Oh!” Naomi squeaked, turning around with a flush on her face. “I didn’t know that you were getting dressed! I--I should have knocked. I’m so sorry.” Naomi cautiously turning back around, offering the object in her hands forward. “I had left over cheesecake from--well, I suppose I was simply in the mood for cheesecake but--I just thought I’d offer you some, Ms. Talebi.”

🃏 -- do you like to play puzzles and card games? What games?

“I do enjoy them, but I don’t have the time for them so much anymore. I have heard great things about wii sports.”

📕 -- do you like reading? What’s your favorite book?

“I adore reading. I’ve always loved Sylvia Plath’s ‘The Bell Jar’. It was the first book I read in English. As a child, I didn’t understand it fully but there was something about it....something that I could relate to.”

👕 -- closet

Very bare. She doesn’t own a lot of clothes or go shopping for herself often so there’s not much there. A lot of her clothes are old and worn, articles that she’s had for years.

🕰 --- clock

Simple, a sad echo in her house. She doesn’t need alarms because she’s always been really alert of the time. She’s never late, and if she is then you can expect that something is wrong. Some times she likes to sit by the clock in her living room and just hear it tick.

“I think it’s manageable so yes. Oh really? Well, I feel honored in that respect. You’ll find I’m a fine dancer but that comes from all the trips on the old band I was in.” Watching her, she smiled a bit at how cute she was being. Maybe that was part of the reason she had been drawn in toward Naomi to begin with. Either way Xiomara was content to hear it was a yes for whatever they decided to do after the dance.

“I’d be happy for both. End it all on a good note after doing our jobs.”

There was always something about the way that Xiomara’s gaze fell that Naomi adored. Sharp eyes with an undeniable strength behind them had Naomi entrapped until she remembered where she was, and what was going on. She coughed, smiling shyly. “Well,” she teased, “I’ll have to judge your dancing for myself. I won’t accept anything less than fine from you, Xiomara. I have to make sure you’re taking this date as seriously as I am.” She offered Xiomara a warm smile, eye sparking with excitement. It’d been years since her last date, years since she’d ever thought about doing this. But she had to, there was just something about Xiomara that told her that she couldn’t let this go. 

“We deserve to celebrate, chaperoning is very hard work. How do you feel about a homecooked meal? My apartment would love to have you over....and I would as well.”

“no problem,” valentina said with a shrug as she looked around the woman’s place. it was much nicer than what she thought when she saw the building initially. she smirked and sat down. “you either don’t do this often or you’re really awkward. either way, it’s pretty damn adorable.”

“Both,” Naomi confessed with a small smile, “I--I’m glad you find it adorable,” she laughed, “but I’m not trying to be cute here.” She turned around, digging through the cabinet under her TV. “I don’t do this often at all but I want to thank you and make sure you’re having a good time here so..” she slowly pulled out a wii controller. “Wii sports? My daughter tells me it is very fun, the best way to have a good time.”
