“never not outside,” he grins. “i would love some company, though. how have you been, em?” aaron likes the woman. she’s fun to be around and he feels comfortable around her. “never not working,” the blonde laughs. “no, but i asked hunter to change my shift from saturday to sunday. i have a gig. no big deal. just a band that want me to produce a few songs for their ep. so that should be fun. “are you going in right now? or do you have the time to hang out with me for a bit?”

emily’s smile softened as she listened to the boy. she shrugged at the question, “been pretty good, i’d say. haven’t seen you much though,” she added with a deep, playful pout before giving a small chuckle, “what about you? you been good, amigo?” her eyes widened slightly, a grin forming on her lips, “a gig? that’s so awesome, aaron! i’m super happy for you! you gotta tell me how it went, please?” she couldn’t help but let out a quiet “aaaw” at his next words, pouting for real now. “you’re so so adorable. i always have time to hang out with you. tell me more about the gig?”

noa played with her hair a little more before smiling and turning around to face emily. “what” she said laughing a little. “you are too kind to me. but okay good. glad it all works” she said smiling some more. “just wanted to be sure. i thought it all worked but you know i just second guess myself sometimes and tonight’s a big event so” noa said looking at emily. 

emily kept on smiling over at noa. “yeah, i feel ya. we all need reassurance sometimes, it’s all gucci,” she said with a slow nod. “don’t kill me ... but what’s tonight again? i know, i know, i should know this but in my defense, it’s my day off.”

despite spending his entire life having to wake up early most mornings for school, for work or for other commitments, river always struggled with it. he valued his sleep perhaps above all else, being the type of person who wouldn’t wake until noon when he had the option, the type of person who got a nap in whenever he could, who looked forward to time off of work purely for the purpose of recharging with some sleep. he had been excited for his day off scheduled for today, looking forward to the sleep he so desperately needed after working so many mornings in a row, but unfortunately the morning hadn’t gone to plan. after being woken so rudely by a neighbour making more noise than river believed humanly possible ( they must have been having some sort of argument in the hallway, he thought ), he found himself unable to get back to sleep, and that was how he wound up at the daily grind, the coffee he drank not helping combat his exhaustion just yet - which was clear to see for the person who tried to speak to him, only to be met with silence for a moment before he registered their presence. “ wait, what ? ”

emily wasn’t exactly the type of person who liked waking up early. she didn’t mind it but she much preferred sleeping in or not getting up at all. work kind of made her get up, at least during the week and sometimes even before sunrise. since the girl enjoyed watching the latter, she really couldn’t complain too much. today her morning had started with the sad event of her coffee machine breaking, forcing her to get her daily dose of caffeine elsewhere. “dude. honestly, you were zoned out for a solid ten minutes, i was about to call 911,” emily replied, carefully pushing his beverage closer to him, “drink up. you definitely need it. want me to get you another one? --wait, how many of these have you had already? don’t want you overdosing.”

aaron has limited breaks but he always finds himself at the side of the hotel, smoking a cigarette. “aye,” he says to the person that’s walking past him. “you going to the arconia?” he asks. his time as a doorman is kind of boring, so anyone that has the slight interest in him, and when he has the slight interested in them, he strikes up a conversation. many times people ignore him, especially when he’s in his uniform. like now.

“mhm. yessir,” emily replied with a soft nod, saluting with her free hand. “and you still take your breaks out here by yourself?” she put down the rather heavy bag she was carrying, “orrr are you off work for the day?” on her days off, she hardly ever knew how late or early it was.

another day and another event for noa to host and she was excited. the girl got herself ready before heading down to the lobby to wait for her car. the girl checked herself in the mirror checking that everyone was okay before she saw a familiar face. “so what do you think? everything matches? works? i’ve got an event shortly and just want to make sure we good before i stepped outside those doors”

“girl.” emily scoffed, “baby, honey, sweetie, don’t even-- why... like how do you always look so fucking phenomenal? i mean, don’t get me wrong, but you look so bomb,” she stopped for a second, shaking her head, “sorry, didn’t mean for it to rhyme. point is, you good, noa. very good,” with a wide grin and a thumbs up, emily finally stopped talking.

                “i know it sounds kind of unbelievable-” they were words fin had found herself saying more in her life than any other, she felt. “but i just had this guy come in and buy every single bag of skittles we had. and we had a lot of them. he even asked me to for all of the bags out the back too, leaving us with not a single skittle in sight.” she tells the customer, giving them a somewhat sad, sorry smile. “the soonest i can get more in is tomorrow morning, i’ve already made the call. can i get you anything else in the mean time? we have plenty to choose from.”

emily usually wasn’t the skittles loving gal, quite the opposite really, but somehow she was craving them at this very moment. the words hit her like a bus, and yes, she was being dramatic. but in her defense, she had specifically and only gotten dressed to go buy a bag of skittles. “no fuc--- no way,” she quickly stopped herself from cursing, “the guy-- this guy ... wasn’t by any chance about 6′2? brown hair? good looking but a mediocre vibe? ...maybe even tipped you, like, fifty bucks?”

was that [ VICTORIA PEDRETTI ] spotted in the lobby of the infamous arconia hotel? must just be, [ EMILY NAPOLI ] the [ TWENTY-FOUR ] year old [ GENERAL MANAGER ]. whenever i hear [ GOOD VIBRATIONS - THE BEACH BOYS ] it reminds me of them. they are known for being [ IRRESPONSIBLE ] and [ RASH ] but they make up for that by being [ KIND HEARTED ] and [ FRUGAL ]. they have been working at the arconia for [ TWO YEARS ] while they are visiting the big apple. we hope they enjoy their stay.

the napolis are an old old old money family, having made most of their fortune in banking and the entertainment industry. needless to say she never had to ask for anything twice. especially since she’s the youngest of four children (2 older brothers - 34 & 32, one dead sister - died only two months after being born) her childhood was bomb af, sooo she really can’t complain. the job at the arconia is her very first and she only got it because of money and connections. surprisingly she’s quite good at it, but does that make her a good employee? hell no. like every proper rich kiddo, emily has a rather toxic relationship with partying and alcohol (and maybeee even drugs sometimes) but she’s super fun both sober and intoxicated - doesn’t think about things before doing them but luckily is charming enough to talk herself out of trouble (most of the time) she owns two cats and loves them more than anything and anyone
