The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve noticed the impact of social media on how my generation (myself included) views relationships, love, courting, and marriage. “#Goals” and heart emojis have been plastered across every Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat post. It seems as though we live a life full of waiting– waiting for the next big news of who’s dating, engaged, and expecting; waiting for it to be our turn; waiting for the moment we get to post a photo of a significant other, awaiting the compliments to follow from various followers.

Holiday Crochet! 

Hey Folks! I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving and are gearing up for an awesome Christmas!

As some of you may know, I am a student at the University of Georgia (GOOOO DAWGS!) finishing up my senior year. With that being said, the time of finals is fast approaching! I had to find a protective style that was simple enough to wake up and go and cute enough for all of the many holiday photos that will be taken well after finals.

Y’all know my go-to right? CROCHET!

What the hell are crochet braids? I am glad you asked. As the name suggests, crochet braids are hair extensions that are literally crocheted into your own braided hair with a tool known as a latch hook.

This type of hairstyle has been popular in the black hair community since the '90s. But today’s version is done more creatively--from the type of hair used to installation techniques to styling.

 I love this method of hair extensions because the application process is far quicker than that of a sew-in, box braids, or even twists. 

There is a minimal stress to your scalp because all you’re doing is looping on synthetic hair onto your already braided hair--no pressure or pulling required, which makes this a great protective style.

This style was done with Fretress’ Bohemian Braid Hair and I used about 4 packs!
