my cat atlas has blood in his urine and they think he must have bladder stones. so they need to do an xray and maybe surgery and i have no possible way to pay for all of this and because of my work schedule i don't even know how tf i'm supposed to get him in to be seen :( and i can't pay. for the appointment anyway and i literally do not have any idea what to do

Kip cannot help the laugh that leaves him, shoulder lifting into a half shrug. "It's going really well - Queues out the door all week." He grins. The shop's never been quieter. In fact, it's been really fucking boring.

"Truthfully, it's really hard to pretend to be busy. I've cleaned each of the tables three times already this morning. So you're doing me a favour by being in here."

"I'm Kip, by the way." He gestures to his nametag. His smile turns playful. "In case you want to leave a good review."

"sure. can't go wrong with a classic." Barbie answers, flashing a grin in Kip's direction. He sets his shoulders back slightly, hands going to his pockets for a second before he fumbles a second, and pulls out his wallet. "guess you'll probably want paid for your efforts, huh?"

It's a stupid thing to say. What was it people said? Cringe. He clears his throat.

"hey, at least i know i'm enjoying a smoothie and a pastry at a clean table, yeah?" He snorts, then raises his brows slightly. "kip, huh? i'll keep it in mind. though i tend to stay off the internet... too much..."

He makes a vague hand motion.

"just too much. i dunno. i'm old school." He laughs. "i'm dale barbara. if you recognize the name, pretend you don't, please. if i get paparazzi called on me one more time..."

His wrist only shifts slightly downwards but the movement is enough to get the blade of the knife buried about an inch in the other's side. Bane's voice is breathy, excited. "if every hole is a goal... stabbing is inherently erotic, isn't it?"

"oh?" for the first time ever, nolis piques his interest. whether they need him or not, he decides that he will have to track him down at some point before leaving, for the love of the game if not for anything else.

he's almost begun to get lost in a daydream again, but jedetta's weight shifting in his arms grounds him immediately. he frowns, looking down at him, and involuntarily presses him closer to himself, as he navigates the corridors with the confidence of a minotaur.

"well, good thing the full moon came before that. what other excuse would i have for getting to slice up a prison-worth of guards?" he frowns, again. "where would you have me go, once we reach the surface?" he asks, mostly because he doesn't trust jedetta to be fully conscious once they come up.

He laughs. He can't help himself, he laughs and laughs and laughs. Of course that would be what pulls Kesabel into interest in the surgeon. How slippery Jedetta too, could be. But he had always sought Kes out, never the other way around. Oh, there was some immense, cosmic joke to be had there. Jedetta can't quite concentrate enough to make it, but he knows it's there.

"go west," he murmurs, settling down slightly. He shuts his eyes, briefly, pressing a hand to his forehead and wiping sweat from it. "that's the direction to go! west..."

"Do you? Me specifically, or just anyone that you can prank? Ahahaha," Alastor said, his laughter a bit canned and absolutely not sincere in the slightest. He didn't address the caller addressing the other listeners, instead moving directly on to their question.

"I do live here! I recently moved in with an old friend of mine. It's quite the lovely little town. Much more to do than I had expected given that it's so small... I would call it cozy. Though... I will admit I've noticed a few things that are a bit strange. Maybe your story and mine will line up?"

The smile in his voice became sincere, tone a bit coquettish in nature. Whether or not he was still hanging onto his anger for Sass was anyone's guess, but at the moment it seemed curiosity won out over anything else.

Sass leans back into their chair and grins to themself. They can't help it. They can tell without a shadow of a doubt that they get under this guy's skin. They can't help but find that extremely funny. "yeah, lakeview's great. huge, compared to some of the towns nearby. i mean, have you ever been to lalock. like, ten people live there, max."

They tap their fingers against their desk and then pick up the phone to hold it closer as they speak into it.

"so, lakeview. to the north, valley city. to the east, clear hill. south, riverwalk, west is ridgewood. the main draw of lakeview, small and cozy as it is, is the lake, right. i mean, they named the whole town after the fact that there's a lake, so... y'know. but there's this other thing that people from out of town talk about, but the locals never seem to bring up for some reason. did you know that lakeview has more ufo sightings than the entire state combined."

"now, don't get me wrong, there's a military base in valley city which, as noted, borders to the north. so, yeah, they're probably testing shit and doing flyovers, sure. i can agree to that. but i mean... i'm not saying the people in lakeview are all geniuses but i think most of 'em could recognize a plane from something they can't identify, don't you."

it's raining. it feels like it's been raining for days now, a nonstop flow of water from the sky. you wondered more than a few times if it'd rain forever.. would the world drown? would you? the thought is almost appealing, a fate that fit you well enough. maybe that's why you walk in it without an umbrella, hair and clothes soaked from the downpour. you jostle the strap of your duffle bag, readjusting it on your shoulder. it's filled to a questionable state with your boxing clothes and workday attire, the bag busting at the seams from being overfilled. it's pretty much everything you own, if you're being honest.

you don't hear her at first, don't even see her.. but she does look out of place when your eyes finally graze over her figure. enough so that you stop walking and look around, as if to see if anyone else was seeing this, as if to compare your expression against another.. but it's just you and her. you don't know what to do. you clear your throat loudly, awkwardly, in order to get her attention. there's distance between you and her, still standing under the rain as she shields herself from it underneath the awning. " uh, um. " you say, stupidly. " are you okay? "

You start slightly at the voice suddenly addressing you. It is so strange, to you, the guardian that you are, to hear someone express concern in your direction. You suppose, perhaps, that is because never before have you allowed yourself to break down in public like this. But you cannot help but feel strange, an immense amount of shame settling over you.

You quickly wipe at your eyes, sniffling softly and trying to smile, showing off sharp teeth. Your voice is hoarse, raw with emotion. "i am well, my friend, i apologize for such an ugly display."
