I want you guys to know that I do not condone this behavior, nor am I trying to baby Shauna
I know what she did was wrong but I am just trying to clarify why I think it happened
Yes, I am aware that she is was supposed to groom the kid, but it didn’t happen within the actual show (Thank you Melanie Lynskey 🙏)
Using a scrapped storyline to explain a characters decision doesn’t work, so with the content we are given in the actual show, I have a good idea as to how we ended up here
Firstly, one thing we know about Shauna in canon, is that she is very repressed and will use sex as a tool to get what she wants
Like having sex with Jeff in the first episode after Jackie refused to say ily back. She doesn’t really like Jeff, she likes what Jeff represents. She looks for Jackie in Jeff.
Her assault on Travis happens after he fucks Jackie
And now, in adulthood, she is miserable and lonely, with her husband constantly gone, and her daughter, who is the same age as her when her life was ruined permanently. She sees in Callie, the youth and life and innocence she will never have again
And also in episode eight, Shauna tells Tai of a fantasy she used to have back when she was a kid, which is something she seems to remember really vividly. Chances are, when she is in Callie’s bed, she isn’t really thinking about Kyle at all, but attempting to use him to have a fantasy of her own, where she is still the desirable teenager she once was.
I don’t think she had any interest in Kyle himself, given the fact that she would probably be reminded of Jeff every time he opened his mouth. Nor do I think she would’ve made a move on him at all, given the fact that it takes believing Jeff is cheating on her for her to actually cheat.
Season 1 adult Shauna wallows in self inflicted pain, she keeps Callie at arms length to avoid causing her harm.
And also, the moment that Shauna finds a hot, age appropriate guy to have sex with, she immediately forgets about Kyle, and tosses him to the side, showcasing how little she truly cared about him.
🚨 Once again, I am not saying that roleplaying in your daughter’s bed is okay, nor am I defending it, I am just attempting to clarify what was probably going through her head to bring us to this point 🚨
