Introducing the Tumblr Nasuverse fanfic recommendation blog! Where anyone can send their favorite fanfiction of the Nasuverse franchise for everyone who visits this blog to see!

How this works: 

Send an ask with a link to the fanfic and at least one reason why you would recommend it. Anything more than just “I really like it!” works.

If there is any content warnings, then feel free to put them in as well. I’m going to be reading the fanfic anyway to check it out and put the warnings myself, but it would be really helpful and faster if you help me with this part.

Asks can be send anonymously or not. I will be posting the rec alongside the ask sent.

There is no character limit to how long your review of the fanfic should be, so go wild.

What is and isn’t allowed:

Recommending fanfics that have already been submitted is allowed only after a month has passed from the previous recommendation.

Crossovers are allowed, but please remember that this is the Nasuverse fanfic recommendation blog. At least one of the fandom must be from the Nasuverse.

Smuts and other NSFW or 18+ fanfics are allowed. 

Any sexual fanfic that features underage characters participating will not be allowed.

Anything racist, homophobic, or transphobic will not be allowed.

Miscellaneous stuff:

If you see something that you dislike, just please look away. There might be tropes you dislike or your blorbos getting bashed or a canon interpretation you disagree with, but just look away and ignore them, please.

If you see a fanfic with insufficient content warnings, please tell me. I’m just human and might have missed some of them.

All submissions will be tagged by fandoms, characters, and content warnings. Use them to look up fanfics or blacklist ones you don’t want to see.

New rules may be added in the future if needed.

Title: Interprofessional Collaboration

Novum Chaldea’s medical team faces a confusing parade of patients. Will Asclepius, Nightingale, Paracelsus and Sanson diagnose the underlying cause? What unspeakable powers afflict servants? And most importantly: can a cure be found before shift change?

A word from me: Workplace friendship, workplace friendship, workplace friendship let's goooooo!

Okay, it's not exactly friendship, but Chaldea's medical team are definitely written as being familiar and used to each other's habits and quirks, and having Sanson as the main point of view for the fic really highlights how they've really gotten along at least well enough to be cordial coworkers.

One of the missed opportunity of FGO is the various Servants from all sorts of times and places working together as coworkers, or even friends. This fic really scratch that itch of Servants just hanging out and doing jobs together around Chaldea.

It's got a good plot, very fun character interactions, and a lot of funny moments. I would recommend giving it a read.

Warning for explicit guro, but if you're fine with that, this is my fave ascelpius fic! archiveofourown. org/collections/Nasuverse_Kink_Meme/works/50434402 it's about the chaldea medical team cutting holes into guda to fuck. It's both really sweet and viscerally uncomfortable, while keeping everyone in character. It's cute!

A word from me: A short fic this time, starring our good doctor Asclepius in the position as the injured patient, and our dear master Ritsuka as the only one available!

It's hurt/comfort fic, but it's so adorable! Well, Asclepius is always adorable, but he's extra adorable as a prickly patient in need of a kissie.

Flat's journey through grief began long before he experienced anyone's death. He just needed to realize it.

A word from me:

Once I finished reading this pair of one shots, I am filled with so many emotions I just had to sit down and spin this fic in my brain for a hot minute.

What do you do when you don't react to death "properly" (heavy quotations mark) and everyone around you can see it?

This is a very lovely character study of both Jack and Flat through a normal AU. A recognition of each other's difference from the rest of society. Not just in death, but in life, behaviors, and the denials and acceptance from others.

If you love Flat and Jack's Master/Servant dynamic from Strange Fake, I recommend this fic for a study in their individual characters and how they see each other.

Title: the doctor is (s)in

Summary:

Sessyoin Kiara: Beast of Humanity. Cultist leader. Master hacker. Licensed and certified therapist.

A word from me: One of the funniest Fate trivia is the fact that Kiara Sessyoin, potential world ender and a hacker/cult leader/kung fu Buddhist wizard, is an actual certified therapist. As in she went to college and studied and everything.

This comedy fic is a story where Chaldea actually needs a therapist, and the best they've got is Kiara "swallow a planet into her coochie" Sessyoin.

The story is formatted through small vignettes of various servants going to therapy, most of which are just so, so, so funny.

My favorite bit has got to be Kama scheduling a weekly insult slapfest session every Wednesday with Kiara.

If you want a funny story to get a big laugh, I heartily recommend this fic.

Title: By the Light of Your Lamp

Summary:

Doctor Asclepius was a man Nightingale greatly admired, and she even had the good fortune of being respected by him in turn. He treated her reasonably, acknowledged her contributions, and they worked together seamlessly to protect and preserve the well-being of Chaldea. She was, to him, the foundational bedrock of medicine, and to her, he was a talented doctor whose hands ever-reached to loftier heights as he lead the charge against the eradication of disease. Simply put, he was the last person she wanted to see her in a vomit-covered bathroom. 

Alas, that was the place he most wanted to be — by her side, applauding her strengths and caring for her even in her hours of darkest need. Not that he ever knows how to show it.

A word from me: Phew! This is good. This is super good. This is well written, it has a clear direction, and it's has a clear idea of its characters and why they act the way they do.

In slightly less formal words, this fic has overwritten my brain and driven me mad over Nightingale and Asclepius. Every time I see these two characters, I will always remember this fic. The madness inherent in the brilliance of an angel. The cold and warmth tsundere layers of the doctor who is trying his absolute best, even if he doesn't know what that best is.

The prose is excellent. The descriptions are filled to the brim with emotions. The feelings are strong and the love is felt like a fire is felt. Nightingale/Asclepius fics are surprisingly rare (this is 1 of the only 2 fics with this ship in AO3), but this fic possess the heart to feed a Nightingale/Asclepius shipper for months.

This 6,773 words long fanfic is an absolute experience to read. I would gladly recommend this for anyone interest in a very explicit insight into the two characters.

Title: A Girl Called Fang

Cú's breath caught as he looked her fully in the face. Pink hair framing a face rounded by youth but still all too familiar.

“Is that Medb?” he burst out, and grinned in his surprise.

The girl’s brow crinkled for a moment, then she smiled and puffed herself out like a rooster. “That’s right,” she said. “I’m Medb, eldest daughter of High King Eochaid. Do I know you, mister?”

A word from me: I am a fan of fluff and heartwarming fics. And this fic is a really fluffy fic starring Cu Chulainn and Medb Lily.

One of the most notable things about Cu's relationship with Medb is that he never hates her. Annoyed? Maybe. Hate? No. Not even when his death is almost directly caused by him.

So what happens when he is confronted with a younger version of Medb? Medb Lily, an innocent yet still prideful Queen of Connacht.

This fic features a great insight into both of their character, how Cu chooses the way he lives and who Medb was before she became who she is. The acceptance of one's fate and a pride to choose whatever one would desire regardless of the future.

I recommend this fic if you're a fan of either Cu Chulainn or Medb.

This is a crossover fic with Twisted Wonderland. Basically, Ritsuka post Lostbelt can't return to PPH because after everything she has been through she can't call herself a real human anymore. She gets pull in to Twisted Wonderland as Yuu and has to deal plot of Twisted and mostly magic school stuff. It deal with the trauma of plot of FGO and how to move with that which I think the author does a really good job of it. Other servants do appear as well.

Title: If I Think About You, Will You Think About Me?

Summary:

Even after he runs away from home, Kariya tries to keep in touch.

A word from me: I always love epistolary fics. Fics that features letters written by the characters themselves. They're often a great way to study a character and express clearly what you think of a character's inner self is like.

This fic features the letters Kariya wrote throughout the years to Aoi, though whether he sent them or not is up to interpretation. We get to see how he managed to get away from his abusive living situation as a teenager, running away from his home, and how he steadily build up a life free from that abuse.

We still see how his past affects him even as his life gets better! And that's the really great aspect of the fic. The first half of the fic does a great job to depict how Kariya was getting out of the horrible childhood he has, how he got a steady job, a normal and fulfilling life, and a great social life. Even if there's still a hint of the trauma he went through from his own thoughts on the things he's seen of the wider world, he was still happy with the Matou completely cut out of his life.

But this is a tragedy. So everything went to hell. Everyone who watched Fate/zero knows when it went to hell. He just had to return to the house that hurt him so much as a child.

If you're a fan of Kariya Matou, I recommend this fic to you so you can cry all over again over the tragedy of his life.

Title: Time Magic Is For All Intents And Purposes A Useless And Dangerous Magecraft

Summary:

Waver realises he is caught in a time loop. 

There's just one problem. He isn't the one who cast the spell that started it in the first place.

A word from me: A magical mystery story, reading this fic makes me feel like reading an actual volume of Lord El Melloi II Case Files.

The story itself is written really well! We've got a starter section, setting up every event that will be repeated over and over again, we've got Waver immediately clocking in as to what's happening and trying to break it, and we've got a really fun exploration into what the clues mean, who the suspects could be, and what he and Gray would be doing while investigating the mystery.

It's a fun mystery filled with twists, credible clues, and chekov's guns. Each characters' motivations are clear to see and clear in how they interact with other characters as to create the net that forms the mystery.

I can't say much about the story without spoiling it, but if you're interested in a painstakingly crafted story where every element eventually converged in the conclusion, then I would enthusiastically recommend this.

Title: Mirrors

Part two of Chaldea Servants interaction one-shot series I promised some time ago. Mostly about snakes and books.

A word from me: I've mentioned in a previous review that some of my favorite fanfics are those that put two barely connected characters and mix them together in a beaker to make some wonderful, wonderful chemistry together.

This one features one of the hero of the immensely massive Mahabharata, Arjuna, and one of the most iconic monster in Greek mythology, Gorgon.

This is a nice story where friendship grows from a relatively cordial first meeting to further conversations that uncover the similarities between two, very different people (see the title, Mirrors).

I really recommend this oneshot for fans of Arjuna or Gorgon who wants to see a growing platonic relationship between the two people that beautifully showcase their personalities, from the bad (one was a major combatant in a war, and the other is a pretty famous monster), to the good (both of them are trying their best, and damn it all, they just want to be with their family).

Give this a read if you're a fan of either.

Title: Until the Morning Glories Fade

A word from me: Okay, so the summary didn't say anything about the fic, because there isn't one. The tags are also barren, with the only clues available when I first stumble on this being that it's an Okita/Nobu ship, which isn't particularly uncommon, they have quite the yuri dynamic of troublemaker delinquent and serious hall monitor going on, and that it's a Beauty and the Beast AU.

Not particularly informative, but I read it anyway since it's standing at 59k words, so the author must have put quite the effort into it.

And damn, it hooked me in good.

Since there's no summary provided, I'll just give my own; Shinsengumi captain Okita Souji is sent to investigate a mysterious occurings and got herself trapped in a magical castle inhabited by a skeleton on fire.

The rest of the fic is a budding romance between the loyal and serious Okita and the irreverent and carefree Nobunaga as they are stuck within the magical castle for the next few months until the exit opens again.

If you're looking for a medium size fun read for the rest of the evening, this fic is one I would recommend as a neat romance story.
