Genshin fans think just because it's "found family", doesn't mean you can't ship them anymore? Why do you wanna make everything incest sooo bad?
Yes, I am talking about ZhongXiao and BeiKazu.
No, Xiao doesn't see Zhongli as his "dad" in canon.
No, Kazuha doesn't see Beidou as his "mom" or "big sister".
AND ANOTHER THING
No, Kazuha calling Beidou "anegimi", "noonim", "da jie tou" doesn't mean he sees her as a big sister related to him by blood/adoption. Those are called "honorifics".
As an Asian person, it is honestly so infuriating seeing people call BeiKazu shippers "incest shippers" because of that. I thought y'all preferred the English localization over the (original) Chinese version? Kazuha just calls her by her first name there, right?
I call the person I like "brother" because he's older than me by two years, does that make it incest?
We call a friend "sister" because she's like a big sister to all of us, but she and another friend are in a relationship, does that make it incest?
It is common for us Asians to call people sister, brother, uncle, aunty, etc. even if they're strangers because it is a sign of respect. Something the GI fandom lacks in regards to culture foreign to them.
I'm honestly sick and tired of the GI fandom throwing the word "incest" around because of no reason other than ignorance.
I played genshin thinking Kaeya was the older brother.
So, 25 adventure ranks later, when I found out that he was in fact the younger one, my brain recalibrated. I had to sit and rethink everything I have been thinking about relating to diluc and kaeya until I reached the point of "Oh. so that's why..."
again, not sure if that made sense.
but point is, that brain recalibration made me somewhat prepared for the pouty Kaeya in 1.6. and.... just.... I love him so much you know
omg.
When I said I liked projecting my abandonment issues onto kaeya, I didn't really have evidence to support my hc. I just know he has those issues.
but then I saw a twitter post proof other than his biological dad, crepus, and diluc leaving him and now I'm just sobbing. I wanna shower this man with all the love he deserves and more oh my god.
Every time I finish a multi-chapter fic or a fic with a looot of words, I always do a short ritual where I'd reread the characters' lore or pause to remind myself of what's really canon to avoid skewing their characterizations that I have in my brain.
Words aren't enough to describe just how much I abhor genshin twitter
*has a new favorite character*
me: I am gonna sexily project my abandonment issues and self-hatred to you.
I can't believe the five star I wanted the most came home on my first pity (third pull today). I am a very unlucky person, does this mean all my luck for 2021 went to him?? AHHH ANYWAYS WELCOME HOME GEO DADDY WOOOO 🥳🍾
It is currently 4:30 am and instead of studying for a test later, i am crying over diluc and kaeya goodbye.
This is like my brodinsons phase all over again, god.
I've seen some people go (๑♡⌓♡๑) at Kaeya's lil ability to teleport a bit when attacking enemies, but let me just share that,
the thought that always comes to my mind ever since I started using him and he does that lil teleport thing was:
what in the abyss mage–
I've been playing genshin for more than three weeks now, and I still have no idea how the pity system works. My friends have tried explaining it and I simply reply with an "ooh", but nooh i actually do not understand shit.
at this point, i'm too afraid to ask 😭
I absolutely love the headcanon that Kaeya is scared of fire (or is at least too careful around it especially when he's around pyro users) after Diluc, well, attacked him or something.
im new to tumblr so i dont have any idea how shit here works. I haven't interacted with others for a long time and now my social battery is finally full but idk who to talk to so im here now ig
Y'know what I need?
More kaeya & diluc sibling angst.
ok i know we're all devestated about reki, and how upset he is over this all but....
we can't forget about langa.
because reki is lashing out at him from seemingly nowhere in his eyes. sure, he's upset about the broken promise, but where else did all of these emotions come from? langa has never seen him this upset before.
and as far as we know and have been led to believe, langa's last closest friend was his father, who is dead. sure, he may have said friends in the past, but presumably no one anywhere near being as close to him as reki is.
langa is completely infatuated with reki, too. romantically or not, you can tell langa absolutely loves and adores reki. he spends almost all of his time with him, too, judging by both his and reki's mothers saying things along the lines of "they're always together" and "i assumed he was with you". these two are clearly inseparable, and spend almost all of their free time together.
and as far as langa knew, he and reki had just been having fun as usual. he'd even noticed reki was starting to grow distant, yet he still tries to spend as much time as possible with him. he texts reki, multiple times, and then he waits for reki near his house in the rain.
he wants to see reki. he thinks they're still fine and dandy, despite the fact reki has been acting slightly odd.
and then the rain scene happened. and you can clearly see that langa is utterly confused and debestated by everything reki does and say. he has no idea why reki is so upset. he has no idea why reki is cutting things off with him. he was just assuming they'd go to s together like they always did, made obvious by miya's "wheres reki?" when reki wasn't with langa when he arrived.
langa is most definitely devestated by these events. reki is as close to him as he is to reki.
he has no idea why this happened, and it's probably going to eat at him.
just imagine being on the receiving end of your closest friend's misery and utter sadness. and then imagine that friend lashing out at you before saying "we're no longer right for each other".
that. hurts.
langa is going to push himself so much harder now because reki isn't around him anymore. he's not going to have anything holding him back.
he won't care because reki isn't there. and he won't even care if he gets hurt, because he'll be in worse pain over reki leaving him.
this is not going to be fun.
This was worded beautifully. I'm crying
Since we’re talking about cartoon lesbians...
Let’s talk about Ever After High, and how it completely re-wrote the narrative of compulsory heteronormativity in maybe the coolest way possible.
Let’s Begin:
Ever After High, although popular, is slightly less mainstream than say Barbie or it’s sister cartoon Monster High, so let’s get a rundown shall we?
The show follows the children of famous fairytale characters, who are split into two factions, the royals and the rebels. The two main characters are Apple White (daughter of Snow White) and Raven Queen (daughter of the evil queen). Raven is having second thoughts about her destiny as teh next big bad, but Apple wants her happily ever after, so she conspires for the two of them to be roommates (oh my god they were roommates) to try to convince her friend to ‘follow her destiny’
Spoiler Alert: Raven doesn’t, and the status quo is broken. The rebel’s realise that maybe they could have happy ending’s too, and the Royals are scared of losing theirs.
We could talk about how the show breaks down privilege and explores deeper societal issues through this narrative, but let’s instead focus on Raven and Apple for now.
Over time, the two develop a real friendship, and Apple becomes less concerned with her own happy ending and more with the safety of her friends, specifically Raven. In addition to this, Apple’s relationship with her boyfriend Daring Charming is tenous at best. They show no real chemistry, she often finds herself exasperated with his vanity, and he even shows interest in other students. Meanwhile, Apple spends more and more time with Raven. As such, many viewers thought that maybe Apple had a thing for her roommate, and I agreed.
BUT, Raven has her own love interest, Dexter, the youngest Charming brother, and their relationship is actually well-built and really sweet. So, Apple’s crush is unrequited, (although many people still thought rapple would be cute, myself included)
Then, we met Darling Charming, Derek’s twin.
Although born a royal, she joins the rebels, since she doesn’t (to her knowledge) have a fixed fairytale, and she wants to be savior like Daring. She takes on the role of the white knight, initially disguised as a guy, but eventually revealing herself to the protagonists.
So, that’s one heteronormative stereotype broken, which was cool enough on it’s own, right? She get’s to be her own Prince Charming, what more could happen?
THEN DRAGON GAMES HAPPENED IS WHAT
If you haven’t seen it, it’s on netflix (and most of the series is available on youtube) but tl;dr Apple accidentally frees the Evil Queen from her prison, they have a big fight with dragon’s, Raven and Apple works as a team, blah blah blah, good times all around.
But something really interestng happens in between.
Apple gets cursed by the Evil Queen, meaning that she falls into an apple induced coma right? Well, Daring comes riding up, ready to kiss the girl, save the day, all that jazz.
Except, it doesn’t work. His ‘true love’s kiss’ fails to save Apple, and so it seems like she’s dead. So Raven and gang throw her a funeral, everyone’s sad, but Apple starts to choke in her sleep, and Darling (cause she’s a REBEL) runs forward to perform CPR and guess fucking what.
that’s right, she brings Apple back to life. WITH TRUE LOVE’S KISS.
Now lil old baby me didn’t really understand teh ramifications of this, but effectively, Apple is now in the Happily Ever After part of her story now, not with Daring, but with Darling, her true love and Princess Charming, WHICH IS FUCKING AMAZING???? like i watched this show growing up, and now there’s the implication of a same sex couple??? And, an extra note, this particular chapter of EAH came out before Disney and Co. jumped on the ‘it’s ok to be gay’ bandwagon, this was the first time I had ever seen a canon wlw pairing in my smol child life!
The series is still ongoing, so we don’t know FOR SURE, if Apple/Darling will be canon, but idk y’all… that is PRETTY gay.
Which is amazing??? I mean, while Disney is fooling around, releasing a new ‘first gay character’ every other week, we have a pretty much canon wlw couple, whose narrative arc would really come full circle in a satisfying way with the ship, and idk about y’all but I think that’s amazing! I mean, they had the perfect set-up for a Prince Charming + Perfect Princess endgame here, heck, we even had a backup Prince Charming who was a huge dork, and could effectivey ‘subvert expectations’ BUT INSTED THEY GAVE US THIS??? WE HAVE TO STAN!
IN CONCLUSION: pls watch Ever After High, because in this house we stan Darling Charming
guys, darling x apple is canon. sapphics, we won.
