Natalie Montgomery as Maria Hill
She could play the doting wife with ease if she were playing with Collin - a Collinat moodboard
Here We Go | Collin & Natalie (closed)
He breathed in the fresh air, letting the cool autumn breeze attempt to clear his head, though it didn’t do much good. After the night they had spent together, being close to Nat had become hazardous to Collin’s health. It was impossible to shake himself free of the feelings, the desires he’d felt when they were that close. And to be honest, he’d been trying to clear his head so much that he hadn’t even heard what Natalie had said. “Hmm? Oh, yeah. Right.” he murmured as he looked up at the building in front of them.
As he watched the people coming and going from the building, the irony of how simple most of their lives were struck him. He and Natalie would be conducting a highly sensitive mission aimed at creating a treaty between the vampires and humans of Oxford and essentially annihilating the werewolves of this town right under all of these people’s noses. None of them would have a clue what was actually going on in their apartment building and Collin couldn’t help but grimace inwardly at the fact. It wasn’t fair. They were bringing a war to these people’s doorstep and they didn’t even know it.
He was pulled from his thoughts by her small hand sliding into place in his. He glanced down as their fingers laced and then looked up at her, making immediate eye contact. He was a professional. He knew exactly what she was doing. And yet, as he looked at what would be their home for the next few months at least, he read a little more into the question. Was he ready to begin the process of killing off nearly every member of his family and his old friends? “Ready as I’ll ever be, dear.” he replied, trying to keep his tone light, and giving her hand a squeeze.
With that he moved forward, leading her towards the entrance. When they got there, he let go of her hand so that he could pull the door open for her, following her in once she’d passed through. Heading to the elevator, he pressed the up arrow button and waited for the elevator to open for them, wrapping an arm around her waist and pulling her close to him. In this moment, it was less of an act and more of he just needed her physical presence to reassure himself.
Natalie was telling herself that things were going better now; that the tension had abated a bit. But then, as they stood waiting for the elevator, he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her body right up against his. Shiit. She knew this was going to make everything all the more difficult.
She was pulled from her thoughts as the ding sounded and the elevator doors slid open. Natalie was almost reluctant to step into the small metal box. She knew how they could get in enclosed spaces. Whether his mind was otherwise preoccupied or he just wasn't afraid, Collin stepped into the elevator, pulling Natalie with him. Natalie knew he could feel and hear her heart rate accelerate as the doors closed.
Was she making this worse than it really was? Probably. She was so anxious about playing by the rules. They'd broken so many already.
And then, that last sentence really hit her. They'd broken this rule already. So, what did it matter if they continued to break it? They'd be punished either way, so why avoid it?
"Collin," she said softly, placing a hand to his chest and gazing up at him. She knew she couldn't make the decision to break rules for him; he had to want it as well. And so instead of going in for the kill, she leaned up on her toes, letting her lips linger only about an inch or so from his. She'd gone 90%; and if he returned the sentiment, then he could come 10%.

Devil May Cry || Natalie & Luke (closed)
“Careful,” Luke eyed the muzzle in his face nonchalantly before finding her blue orbs. “You’re like to blow your cover if you keep that up. This town is crawling with monsters and you wouldn't want to make too many enemies too quickly.”
He smirked. “I may be the ‘biggest, baddest vampire’ you've ever seen,” he said, referencing her turn of phrase before favoring her with a controlled smile. “But that won’t last long, here, I’d wager. I do not represent the Authority in Oxford. They've a Queen for that.”
Heedless of her firepower, he strolled past her, stopped, turned to look at her. Luke didn't feel particularly threatened, in all truth. Granted, not even he could outrun a bullet, but he could certainly outrun her and, in the time it would take her to raise her weapon, he could be gone…But more to the point, Luke didn't believe she had any real intention of hurting him, just as he had no intention of hurting her. Oh, it amused him to play at it, from time to time, but there was an end to it. Deep down, afterall, Luke knew he couldn't bring himself to do her damage. Not with that face…
Occasionally he still remembered the undeniable shiver that had run through him when he’d first spotted her across that room five years ago in Britain. For a split second, horror had risen like bile in his throat: here she was, at last she’d come for her revenge…But then he’d realized something. He could hear her heartbeat.
Even now, when Luke looked at Natalie, he felt as if he were lying on his back by that fateful river, thick clots of blood oozing from his grievous wounds, Irina bending over him as he gasped out his last breaths…
“Dinner?” He inquired, eyes twinkling with amusement. “Did you mean to open your vein to me?” Luke’s eyes were set upon the sapphires that were her hues, his breath close on her cheek. Even in military regalia, she’d been a sight to behold, the deep tones of blue playing up the delightful coffee hue of her hair and the sheen in her eye when he read lust there. His lips curved, but he attended to her further questions.
“The same impetus which, I imagine, also propelled you across the waters, naturally. A chance to treat with Her Grace: The Queen of the Damned.” He chuckled softly, head tilting. “You are, afterall, here on assignment, I’m quite certain. Is that what it means to ‘live the job,’ Agent?” He asked, bemusement sparkling in his bright eyes.
“My sweet shadow,” he mused, his lips curling softly, despite himself, before his pale orbs found hers once again. “Perhaps, like yourself,” he began, taking a step towards her. “She has bedecked herself in her finery to take this town by storm. Blue really is your color, Agent,” he murmured. “It suits your eyes.”
Natalie was praying to a God she didn't even believe in that her face wasn't red in embarrassment. Even if it wasn't, she knew he could feel every little emotion that coursed through her. Damn him. He was already damned; being undead and all, but damn him again. Natalie was intensely still as he moved around her; she swore she was spinning. Or maybe that was just because she was holding her breath. Why was she holding her breath?
Letting out a breath as evenly as she could, she gathered her thoughts. She then cleared her throat again before saying, "The only vampire I feed is Collin. Orders are orders." It was strange to her, though, that the organization only allowed her to let Collin feed from her (of her own free will, of course). "Don't worry, I would have gotten you a really nice feeder in place of me," she told him with a very slight smile. Despite being an extreme rule-follower, Natalie still had a sense of humor.
"We are here to see the Queen. In fact, that's where Collin is this evening and why I'm... Out here on my own," she said, suddenly wishing she'd listened to herself and just stayed in for the night. Her fingers fidgeted absentmindedly with the engagement ring and wedding bands on her fingers. She still wasn't used to wearing them, having only donned them about a week before.
But then he came closer to her and she was holding her breath again. Dammit; she knew he could feel how him being this close was affecting her. She could all too easily recall how his lips had felt on hers in her dreams; how his fingers had tangled into her hair...
Swallowing hard at the lump in her throat, Natalie met his eyes and gave a smile, "Why thank you." She placed a hand to his chest. If he wanted to play with her, then the must want something from her. And if he wanted something from her; then she could play him right back. "I assure you, I look much better in nothing," she said, winking at him before a light laugh sounded in the back of her throat, "Too bad you'll never see me that way, isn't it?"
Patting his chest twice, she stepped back from him to give her mind a little space to clear. "So, is there something I can do for you, or did you simply come to join me on my adventures for the night?"
Into the Fire || Natalie & Rory (closed)
Rory slid her green jacket on as she made her way out of her apartment building, a cigarette already in her mouth despite the fact that she had no idea where she was going. She needed to clear her head and being cooped up in her apartment wasn’t doing anything but making her even more irritated than she already was. A lot had happened in the past week and Rory was in no mood to deal with it. Dealing with the problem would mean having to acknowledge that it was real. When it came down to it, Rory was good at ignoring her problems until they just went away.
Which might might be a little difficult to do in this case, considering her problems were currently walking around town.
She began to walk down the sidewalk, glancing down in her pockets in attempt to search for her lighter. Rory knew it was a bad habit to have, but back then smoking seemed to be one of the only things capable of calming her nerves (drinking until she fell asleep got old really quick). Unfortunately, she hadn’t been able to completely kick the habit just yet. Especially now that Collin was back in town and all memories, both good and bad, of London came with him. Momentarily distracted, Rory ended up nearly colliding with another figure as she rounded the nearest corner. “Shit, sor-” she stopped mid apology when she got a better look at the woman, her green eyes widening slightly.
This week just kept getting better and better.
It hadn’t taken long for Rory to recognize the woman, even if they’d never been properly introduced. Escaping vampire headquarters wasn’t exactly the best time for a meet and greet. She brunette seemed to know Collin and nearly stopped him from sneaking Rory out, and that was about all she knew. Rory did her best to ignore the memory as she stared at the other woman, quickly raising her guard on instinct. “What the hell are you doing here?” she asked, her voice surprisingly calm but still slightly hostile.
Natalie took her job very seriously. And this meant doing surveillance. It was day time, and she was rather tired. Having been in the company of a vampire for so long, she'd taken to his sleep patterns instead of the norm. Seeing the sun was good for her, but she was still tired.
She carried a Surface in her hands, flipping through the millions of papers that had been sent to her by the organization; many of which were detailed profiles of the werewolves in this town. Natalie had all but come to a standstill as she recognized a face on the roster. It was that werewolf. The one Collin had risked his (and hers) life to save. But she'd died; hadn't she?
And then, just as she had finished having a mental breakdown about it, who should walk around the corner and right into her? Aurora Foster herself. Natalie's blue eyes were wide as she gazed at what she thought was nothing more than a bad memory, a blight on Collin's otherwise perfect ledger. Fuck.
"I'm Collin's wife, I go where he goes," she said with a raised brow, knowing that would strike a cord with this she-devil werewolf. Natalie had to focus extremely hard not to pull out her gun and shoot the woman down for what she'd done to Collin. And because Natalie just didn't like her. So what if Natalie wasn't really Collin's wife. This woman wasn't privy to information of their mission. And it was going to be so much fun to piss her off. "I could ask you the same question, wolf," she said indignantly, "Aren't you supposed to be dead?"
Here We Go | Collin & Natalie (closed)
To be honest, since being employed by the agency, Collin spent most of his life with his ‘switch’ flipped. The job was his priority, no matter what it entailed. It was only moments like this, when he and Natalie were alone, far from listening ears or judgment that he let his other side, the emotional part of him show. It was the way he did things. Work work work. Let the emotions flow for a few, brief, stolen moments, and then back to work. But never before had flipping the switch been this difficult for him.
He had turned away, looking out the back of the car as he worked to flip the switch this time. He didn’t really like Natalie seeing how difficult it was for him this time. Didn’t want her to see the guilt that threatened to make flipping the switch impossible each time he considered it. But when she spoke his name, he immediately turned to look at her.
The second his head turned in her direction, the car filled with tension. He found himself face to face with the one thing, besides his family, that made flipping the switch so difficult. Their relationship was based entirely around work. And yet this- whatever this electric current that flowed between them was… this was definitely not work. In fact, they could be killed because of it. Collin eyes roamed over Natalie’s face, taking in every familiar feature. They had been together for years now, he felt like he had her face completely memorized and yet as they breathed each other in, he was struck by how new it all seemed. Shit shit shit god damn it shit fuck shit.
This was not good. Definitely not good. As his eyes trailed down her face and came to rest on her lips, he swallowed hard. Or at least tried to, despite the large lump that had formed in his throat. God did he want to taste those lips again. The one night they had spent together in London had been just enough to give him a craving for more and just as he was about to close the distance between them, she moved. As she leaned in, Collin grew absolutely still. If his heart could still beat, it would be pounding right now. But then at the last second, she changed directions and pressed her lips to his cheek. And just like that, the moment was over.
This was why Natalie was the perfect handler for Collin. She would always make the right choice when it came to the job and apparently, she had a lot more self control than he did. He tried not to let his disappointment show as she leaned away from him, doing his best to compose himself. But her body was making that hard to do.
Collin straightened himself up and sat back in his seat. Looking out of the window, he noticed for the first time where they were. “Ah, looks like we’re here.” he said, his voice sounding overly forced. Of course, Natalie would be able to tell what a show he was putting on at trying to act normal, but in this instance he wasn’t really sure what else he could do.
As the driver slowed the car, Collin straightened his jacket. When they came to a stop in front of an apartment building, he grabbed his briefcase and opened his door, grateful to step outside of the closed space.
Natalie had been sure she was going to wilt and die inside that car. When moments like that came to pass, the tension in the air made it hard to breathe, and this moment was no different. She was just as glad as he was that they were finally at their destination. She watched him practically jump out the door before she gathered her own bag and stepped out of the car. Opening the small front pocket on her bag, she pulled out a set of keys that had been sent to her. "4A. All of our stuff should be there already," Natalie said as she came around the car.
It was her extremely sensitive peripheral vision that alerted her to the presence of other apartment leasers coming and going around them. Most were couples, some were family, even fewer teenage kids. It must have been open house weekend or something of the sort. She paid particular attention to the couples that passed, and then mimicked their behavior without a second thought to the tension that still emanated around them.
She place the keys in her hand with her brief case and then moved over to Collin, placing her free hand in his and lacing her fingers with his. She knew the people around them wouldn't escape his notice, and she hoped he understood she wasn't trying to make the tension worse, but make their cover look real. "Ready... honey?" she asked, the brightest and most beautiful smile came across her face as she gazed up at him. This was easy; this she could do. She could play the doting wife with ease if she were playing with Collin.
Here We Go | Collin & Natalie (closed)
He almost winced when she asked him about signing their death warrant. He had thought about it, and even though they had turned their back on him, refused to love him because of what he wasn’t, treated him like trash, there were brief moments usually right before he was about to drift off to sleep as the first lights of dawn showed themselves, that Collin wondered if he really could be this cruel.
"There is one." he sighed, looking down at their hands. When she pulled out the file he let out a large sigh. "That’s the one. Everett." he said quietly. If there was one thing that kept him awake during the days, it was Everett. His cousin had been Collin’s one friend in his family. The one person who he could count on not to make fun of him for not shifting, who still accepted him even though he wasn’t a werewolf. If they were successful, and Collin was always successful, could Collin really live… or whatever he was, knowing he had orchestrated Everett’s death?
For a moment, guilt flooded over Collin. Could settling a grudge really justify murdering his entire family? But then she posed her question and Collin’s attention was snapped back to the reality of the situation. “It has nothing to do with how much I hate them, Nat.” he explained. “We were given a mission and how I feel about that mission is irrelevant.” It was like a switched had been turned on… or off. He was back to Mr. Sensible, Follow the Rules, Collin Lawson. The one who didn’t let emotions get in the way of his work. Or at least that’s what he thought.
Natalie could see his switch flipping before he'd even done it. His body language changed so drastically, it was hard to miss. But then, she'd always been more in tune with him and his emotions than anyone else on this planet. Even after he'd been turned; that hadn't changed a thing. She almost grimaced to see him shut himself off from the emotional part of himself. She respected it, because she knew it was necessary in their line of work; but now that she was so close to him, it was strange to see.
"Collin..." she breathed out, flipping the file shut and tucking it back into her bag before zipping it shut. She turned her eyes back to meet his and after a moment, she leaned over to him. Her intention had been to press her lips to his cheek in solace, but as she neared him, his face turned towards hers (whether or not he did it intentionally, she didn't know), lining their lips up. Natalie went completely still, feeling her breath catch in her throat. Fuck.
There had been a lot of moments like these since that night in London; where the palpable tension between them flared up till it was nearly unbearable. She could see his eyes moving over her face; could hear the unsteady intake and release of both of their breath. She swallowed hard as her eyes remained on his lips. No, Natalie, no. You're putting both of you at risk. And despite her deep desire to close the space between their lips, she turned and pressed her lips to their original target: his cheek. Letting out one last shaky breath, she leaned back into her seat.
There was no point in denying what had just passed between them. She knew all too well that he could hear the way her heart was hammering in her chest, feel the heat radiating from her skin, and smell the desire that pooled in her lower extremities.
Sometimes, she hated that Collin was a vampire.
It won't be in vain To swallow all your pain And learn to love what burns And gather courage to return to...
Here We Go | Collin & Natalie (closed)
The moment she spoke, Collin immediately chastised himself. Sometimes, because he knew it was his main concern most of the time, he shifted what he was thinking onto Natalie. She wasn’t a robot who didn’t care about him. While she was very concerned with their mission, her concern was more for him. It was unfair of him to put that on her.
He let out a sigh and shook his head slightly as her warm hand wrapped around his. “I’m sorry, Nat.” he apologized, giving her hand a squeeze in return, placing the other hand on top of hers as well. Her small hand was so warm. That was one thing that Collin missed about being human; the warmth. Though he never felt the cold, he was pretty certain that the absence of warmth would be something he would never get used to.
“I guess I’m transferring my concerns onto you.” he admitted after a few brief moments of silence. Looking up so that his eyes met hers, he let out a breath. It was true, he had never really told her about her family in all the years they had spent together. But if they were going to do this mission, do it successfully, well she needed to know about anything that could possibly hinder them or cause problems down the line.
Turning his body so that he was facing her and his back leaned against the door behind him, he continued easily stroking the back of her hand with his thumb. Her warmth, her presence in all reality, was like a soothing balm and gave him the courage to continue all in one. “My family are werewolves, Nat. ” he said quietly after a few seconds, looking up at her as he did so. It was something he hadn’t talked about with anyone outside of Oxford. It wasn’t that he was necessarily hiding it, but when he had left, werewolves were and remained to this day, very secretive. It had just never come up with anyone. And then, when the two of them were recruited by the Agency, well Collin had even more reason not to tell anyone. There was no point now. He was loyal to the cause and telling anyone of his lineage would simply create doubt where there didn’t need to be any.
Collin was firmly committed to their mission in Oxford. Natalie knew that, of course. But he needed her to know why he was anxious about how all of this would work out.
Natalie watched him closely as he leaned back against the door behind him. She didn't think anything, really, could have prepared her for what he said next. "All of them?" she said, her eyes widening a bit. When he confirmed it, she leaned against the door behind herself now, her mind reeling. It was a huge conflict of interest. Massive! How could he not have told her this until now? Her blue eyes shut for a moment and she let out a breath before they opened again, "You realize you could very well be signing your whole family's death warrant by doing this, right?"
She knew he had to have thought of that. "I mean, even if you hate your family, there has to be someone among them you like, or else how in the hell did you survive twenty years with them?"
Natalie pressed her lips together for a moment before releasing his hand and leaning forward, grabbing her laptop bag from the floorboard between them. She unzipped a pocket and pulled out a file, flipping it open and letting her eyes scan over the words on the papers in front of her. "I knew I should have looked at this earlier," she said softly, placing a hand to her forehead. "Collin, practically half the pack is made up of your family," she said, then looked up at him as her hand dropped to her lap, "One of them even became Packmaster while you were gone!"
She let out a breath and leaned back into the leather of the seat. "I've never had problems with my family, mostly because it was only ever my parents and I. My dad is my hero, obviously. And my mom, she was alright, too. I can't imagine..." She couldn't imagine doing anything to ever put them in danger. Natalie turned her vibrant blue eyes to look at him. There was no judgment in her eyes; she didn't think of him any differently for this. She was just... curious. "You really hate them that much?"
Devil May Cry || Natalie & Luke (closed)
I'll be fine. Spend some time out and about, relax a little. I'll call you when I'm headed back.
Collin's words rung around in her head as she stepped out of the apartment they'd leased. Shifting uncomfortably in her aqua blue dress, Natalie resolved herself to have a little fun. Civilian clothes weren't exactly her forte, but this one was a nice color that made her eyes stand out, and it's asymmetrical hem showed off her perfectly toned legs in the very best way. She couldn't help but think of Collin's face if he'd seen her all done up like this. After all, for years all they'd known of each other was military uniforms. They were still adjusting to this odd civilian-undercover-esque life they'd been told to lead.
The black heels she wore clicked against the stairs as she descended to the ground level and walked out of their apartment building. Rose gold earrings swung back and forth from her ears and mixed into her chocolate hair, which she'd worn down in effort to get used to being "normal". What she didn't know, however, was where the fuck one was supposed to go in this town to have fun.
Pursing her lips and glancing around, she decided her best bet was going towards the town square. She'd done research on this town, of course, and knew that it was spotted with restaurants and shopping. But the longer she walked along the sidewalk, the more the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. She wasn't alone anymore. As smoothly and easily as if she were simply searching for her phone, she rifled through the small purse she carried, pulling out her small pistol that was loaded with wooden bullets before turning on her heel and pointing it behind her.
And right into the face of Lucian Vranian.
The color drained out of Natalie's face. Not because she was afraid, more because a lot of memories were suddenly flooding back to her. Ones of him through that damn vampire mind link being able to know how aroused she'd been after having dreams of him. She still swore up and down that they were only because he'd made her drink his blood. He knew that was a lie.
"Oh, it's just you," she said, playing it off as much she could. Without stowing her weapon, she lowered her hand. While Luke had been on her radar for a long time, he'd never hurt her; but she knew he'd killed plenty of people with those hands of his. Those hands which she still longed to feel on her own body-
She cleared her throat.
"Had I known you were in town, I would have sent you an invitation to join Collin and I for dinner or something," she said, raising a hand and brushing her hair back from her face. Having to do that - where her hair was normally pulled back into a tight bun - she suddenly recalled what she was wearing. This would be the first time Luke had seen her out of a uniform (at least in the real world. The Luke from her dreams had seen her in much, much less). A blush suddenly touched her face and she longed for her uniform - or a long coat.
"Whatever could bring a big bad vampire like yourself to Oxford?" she asked, and then glanced behind him as if looking for something. "And where's your shadow?" she asked, obviously referencing Eve, who Natalie swore she'd never once seen Luke without.
Here We Go | Collin & Natalie (closed)
It had been years since Collin Lawson had been in Oxford, Mississippi. Twelve in fact. He’d left Oxford behind as soon as the army offered him the chance and hadn’t looked back since. And yet, here he was sitting in a cab being driven right back to Oxford. He was having to face Oxford and his past, including his family, head on. If it were possible for him, he was pretty sure he would’ve been sick from the thought of it the second they stepped off the plane in Jackson.
Thank goodness for Nat, Collin thought to himself, glancing over at the brunette seated in the car next to him. She was the one piece of normalcy, the one piece of his new, his real life that he got to take with him as he was forced back into his old one. Besides Louie, of course. And Collin was very thankful for that.
When he had left Oxford all those years ago, Collin had been happy to leave everything about his family and his life there behind. He had never lived up to the family name and they had made damn well sure that he knew that. He was the runt, the oddball, the ugly duckling of the family. And he would never be what they wanted him to be.
Life in the army had showed him though that he could live up to and exceed expectations, that he wasn’t just a great big disappointment. He had embraced his new life, his new work easily, extremely thrilled at the chance to start a new life. In his opinion, if he never had to come back to Oxford it would be too soon. Besides the incident with Rory, Collin had never once looked back on his life in Oxford. And now his two lives were colliding and Collin wasn’t sure what it was going to mean for him.
As they approached Oxford’s town limits, Collin got more antsy with each passing second. He noticed Nat glancing over at him periodically and rolled his eyes. “Nothing to worry about Nat.” he said with a short chuckle, answering the question he knew was plaguing her thoughts. “I’m not having second thoughts about the mission.” he added, letting out a long breath. “I just never thought I’d be back here again.”
Natalie had been counting the seconds that they sat in silence. It had been nearly two hours in the car. She'd spent most of her time glancing out the window. After all, it was a rather scenic route once they'd gotten off the interstate. Having lived so many places in her life, she'd come to appreciate the beauty in every place. And - from what she'd read and what she'd heard - she'd come at the better time of year. After the humid heat of summer had passed.
About twenty percent of her time on the ride had been spent glancing over at the person next to her. He was a vampire, but he wasn't very good at hiding the anxious energy that plagued him. She wasn't going to say anything, and had spent her seconds smoothing over the soft fabric of her skirt or tucking her shoulder length brown hair back behind her ear. It had been so long since she'd worn it down, she was anxious herself - that she might choke on her own hair.
She was pulled from her thoughts as he finally spoke. He thought she was worried about the mission? Okay, so a small part of her was. It was ingrained into her from a young age to accomplish whatever task she was given. But her overriding worry was about him - as a man, not a soldier.
Natalie's gaze dropped from his face down to the exceptionally real, but all too fake engagement and wedding rings on her finger. They were real, the materials at least. Real gold, real diamonds. But their placement on her finger was nothing but the outward display of their cover for coming to town. She let out a breath before looking up at him.
"I'm more worried about you," she said, her long legs crossing towards him. Her hand reached out and took hold of his pale, cold one and gave it a squeeze. It was dark - as it had to be for him to be able to travel alongside her and not in a coffin. But even without any light, she knew the details of his face. "You've told me little about your family; and I gather that's for a good reason. So, yes. I worry about the mission. But I worry more about you," she told him. She could only hope that an ocean away from the organization, they would never hear or interpret her words for what they truly meant. That would very likely mean her own death.

Personality
There should be a picture of Natalie’s flawless face next to the definition of ‘Perfect Soldier” in the dictionary. Whether it was because of her growing up with an Army father, or if it was just in her DNA, Natalie Montgomery is and always has been the shining example of what a soldier should be. Even as a child, Natalie was far more in tune with playing war games with the boys than she was into playing dolls with the girls. And instead of watching TV, she would (whenever he was home) sit upon her fathers lap, watch as he laid out some battle scenarios and then test her on what the best strategy was. Natalie became the excellent strategist she is today because of nights like those.
But even a soldier has a heart. And while Natalie has dated quite a few men in her life, none ever stayed very long. For one reason or another, each always ended leaving, and while some would become bitter, Natalie chose to view it as a learning experience. Having spent most of her adult life in the Army, Natalie got to be around far more men than women and she has decided to believe that when the time is right, the right person will come along.

Born to Colonel John Montgomery and his wife Bethany, Natalie was born an Army brat. While she was born in New Mexico, she’s lived all over the country. It was explained to her from a very young age that they would never be in one place for too long. The most they ever stayed in one place was two years. This made it hard for Natalie to maintain friends; but she never had any trouble making them. From a young age, she was very outgoing and incredibly smart. She never had any worries about approaching someone and striking up a conversation. Though, most of the friends she made were males, seeing as she was never one for barbie dolls and dressing up.
As early as she possibly could, she joined her school’s JROTC program, in which she excelled. Natalie then joined her college’s ROTC, and once she’d graduated college, she joined the Army as quickly as she could. Being both the daughter of a Colonel and as talented as she was, Natalie rose through the ranks with a quickness. Before she knew it, she was designated Captain Natalie Montgomery and was in command of two company-sized units, around one hundred and eighty men.
It was in her rise through the ranks that she met and befriended Collin Lawson. After a few close calls in which they both saved each other’s lives numerous times, they were bound to each other for life. Their promotions in rank separated them from time to time, but somehow, they always ended up back together. Their coming together in London would be the one that proved the most fateful.
For when they both came to London, they were both drafted into a secret program to help build connections between humans and vampires for any upcoming war between the supernatural species on English soil. Natalie, being a good soldier, followed all of her commands, viewing this as a compliment from the military, that they would trust her with something so complicated and important to the survival of her kind. She had no idea, however, that it would entail watching her best friend become one of the walking dead.
It was difficult at first, for her to adapt to the darker ways of this work. But, when she came to understand the intricacies of the plans, and that she would become Collin’s handler and travel with him for the rest of her natural (working) life, she began to adjust to the life that laid before her. This was, however, until she discovered that by-the-books Collin had been breaking rules.
When she discovered Collin with a werewolf that he was helping escape, she could hardly believe her eyes. She screamed and argued and begged him not to do this, not only was he breaking rules but he was putting himself and herself in danger. The people they worked for didn’t take kindly to those who broke rules. But, after seeing she couldn’t dissuade him, she let him carry on. And for a long, long time it was the only thing that the two never talked about.
The next thing that they would never talk about would be her own fault, however. As time closed in for their trip across seas and back to the United States, Natalie went out with a few friends she’d made in her time in London and had a few too many drinks. When she returned to the flat she and Collin shared, she ended up breaking one of the company’s biggest rules. No handler/vampire relationships. For that night, she and Collin ended up having sex, after she did her best version of seduction (which was babbling on for an hour and then sitting in his lap and kissing him until he gave in).
So now they were even as far as breaking rules; they were also even in their apparent want to repeat the evening. And though it has come close a few times, one or both of them has always walked away. She hopes that it will stay that way now that they’re in the States.
