“I agree with that. All my normal hiding spots have been taken over by other people. Which is not fair in the slightest, if I do say so myself. I claimed all those spots years ago. It’s not fair that I have to find new ones now,” Oliver huffed. “You can try telling that to Di, but I’m sure she’d have some responsibility as to how it’s good planning for the future when it comes to hosting events,” He said in his best impression of Diana’s voice.

“Loud stomping idiots.” she added as she leant her head against the others shoulders. “I mean we are pretty superior compared to the other countries, only the best country could hold such an event.” she teased as she elbowed him gently. “If i complain to Di, she’ll just tell me to grow up and get over myself.” she shook her head as she blinked at her brother. “For now you’ll do to vent to.”

“my dad used to say strangers are just friends you haven’t made yet,” william said, coming up behind the last windsor sibling he had yet to introduce himself to. unlike with oliver, he didn’t plan on falling off a chair and saying his name was tina. “you haven’t thought about just sneaking out then? get some fresh air away from crowds and people?”

“Well i still don’t want these ‘friends’ in my house.” she pouted as she finally took time to recognise who the other was. “I only want my family and future family around, makes i easier to get to know them if the hallways arn’t crowded with free loaders” she chuckled softly as she shook her head. “Every night, but i’m usually under close watch being the baby of the family so i don’t get to sneak out as much as i’d like.”

“I’m glad you finally see my point,” Oliver sighed. “It’s not even that it’s crowded, at least that’s not the case for me. I don’t mind people being here, of course, but they’re just…here all the time. It’d be nicer, I think, if we’d used some of the nicer hotels around London and had some people stay there instead of being at Buckingham the entire time.”

“I just want the hallways to be more quiet and less hooking up.” she rolled her eyes as a groan escaped her lips. “I don’t need to see tongues down throats everywhere i walk.” she elbowed the other gently. “That sounds like a genius solution, when can we recommend it to Di?”

“Okay i lied.” she rolled her eyes as she exhaled. “I’m sick of having all these strangers in my home now.” a sigh left her lips as she rubbed the bridge of her nose. “It’s getting crowded.”

“Mum and Dad did a pretty good job of having people put this together, didn’t they?” Oliver asked as he moved to stand next to Natalie. He took a moment to look around the room, watching all the other guests mill around the party scene, either enjoying the music or drinking or dancing. “You’re not going to slip away halfway through this to go snog your betrothed in some closet, are you?” He turned to look at Natalie. “Because I don’t want to be left on my own to make rounds around the party.”

“They did alright i suppose.” she shrugged her shoulders as she glanced at her older brother. “Unfortunately not, i haven’t had the pleasantries of even speaking with him yet let alone shoving my tongue down his throat.” she rolled her eyes before lifting her glass to her lips and taking a large mouthful. “Don’t worry Oli, you can’t get rid of me that easy.”

          ‘ oh my, ’     katie gasped as she stepped into the ballroom, blue hues wandering around in awe as her lips fell ajar. while she had been to balls before, they were all hosted by her parents as she could not travel overseas due to her heart complications and damn – the windsors did a good job in here. lips forming into a huge grin, she turned to grab the attention of the nearest person.     ‘ this is the best ball i’ve seen so far ! ’

Natalie smiled smugly at the brunette as she nodded her head. “Thanks, Di worked really hard on it.” she crossed her arms over her chest as her eyes wandered to walls glancing at all the decorations. “If she wasn’t going to be the queen she would of been a party planner i’m sure of it.”

“Beating up grandfathers…keeps you young? What kind of immortal are you?” Oliver asked, though he couldn’t help himself but laugh. He watched Nat as she ate a few grapes, so he reached over and grabbed a few of them for himself. “Did I really promise that when we were six or are you just making that up?” He asked, eying her suspiciously. “So long as I don’t have to put on a dress.”

“A god.” she stated as she watched the other steal her food. “I hope you’re planning on replacing the stolen fruit you just took.” she teased him before she took another handful, this time placing it in his lap. “Complements of the house.” she grinned at her brother before deciding to lean her head on his shoulder. “Have you heard the news yet?” she’d thrown slightly as she thought about the letter she’d recently received from their parents. “I am to be married.” she let out a sigh. “Maybe that wedding will be sooner rather than later, and of course you’ll be wearing a nice bright pink dress.”

“I knew it wouldn’t be that easy,” Oliver sighed. He continued to glare at Natalie, but of course he realized that they both knew that he would eventually cave. He got in one more eye roll before he sunk down and met Natalie on the couch. “Wow, I can’t believe you’d beat up a grandfather. That’s very disrespectful of your elders, Nat.”

Natalie giggled at her brother before reaching for her fruit platter, stealing a few grapes from it and eating them. “It keeps me young fear brother.” she teased as she elbowed him gently. “Congrats on the engagement, maybe i’ll be your bestman before you’ll be my maid of honour.” she grinned at him. “You’re still doing that for me by the way, you pinky swore when we were six.”

“No, I think I’ll stand, thanks,” He said, crossing his arms instead of joining Natalie on the couch. “Then what’s the point of me locking the door in the first place? I’m ninety-nine percent positive that locks were originally invented to keep little sisters out.” He huffed. Of course he knew that key was to be used if there was an emergency or something, but that didn’t make it any less irritating. “Can I have my glasses back now, or am I going to have to hear another earful of ‘grandpa’ jokes?”

Natalie stared at her brother dumb founded at his rejection. “You’re joking.” she spoke softly before shaking her head. “You’re not getting them back till you give me the love i’m so clearly craving.” she quirked an eyebrow at the other showing she wasn’t backing down from the challenge. “Stop being stubborn, Don’t make me kick you ass around this castle. we might be older now but i’ll still beat you grandpa.”

Oliver narrowed his eyes as soon as he saw Natalie, his glasses shown very clearly around her neck. He wasn’t surprised in the slightest that his suspicions had been confirmed. “Natalie. Seriously,” He said, entering her rooms. He briefly thought about trying to snatch them, but he had the feeling that she would be faster than him, and even less unlikely to hand them over. “How did you even get in my rooms? I thought I’d locked the door. For this exact reason, actually.”

Natalie grinned at her older brother as he entered her room. “Have a seat, kick your feet up Oli.” she smirked at the other as she sunk into her couch. “Seriously Oli?” she pouted playfully as she grinned at her brother. “I have a spare key, like how you have a spare key to my room.” she admitted truthfully before nodding her head. “Though, if needed i’m sure i could pick the lock.”

Oliver hated the fact that he had to wear reading glasses. They made him feel a million years older than he really was. It wasn’t even that his eyesight was that bad, but if he wanted to read anything that was remotely close to his face, it was completely blurry unless he had his glasses on. So, when they were suspiciously missing from their usual spot in his room, Oliver had the feeling he knew exactly who the culprit was.

He knocked on Natalie’s door a second before opening it just a crack. “Nat,” He scowled, hoping she would hear the annoyance in his voice. “I know you took them. Where are they?”

Natalie silenced a laugh as she opened the door to her brother, his glasses hanging like a leash around her neck. “I have no idea what you mean grandpa.” she chimed as she glanced at her brother. “You must be tired, i know walking down the hallway can be a tiring act for someone so old.” she teased him before pushing the door open wider, inviting him into her suite. “How’s live gramps? do i need to book you into a retirement home yet or do you think you’ll kick the bucket before then.” she ran a hand through her hair as she took a deep breath.

It may sound strange to someone that wasn’t royal, but Oliver was more than used to having strangers in his home; growing up various, but important, political figures always seemed to be going in-and-out. On top of that, there were foreign diplomats, and of course the entire staff. But the fact of the matter was these people were always changing, and never stayed around for long. He knew, of course, that the summit meeting meant that people would be at Buckingham Palace significantly longer than normal, but perhaps he didn’t realize just how long they would all be staying here.

“You know, I’m glad it’s just the three of us for breakfast,” Oliver said as he entered the room with his two sisters. He’d come across significantly more people than normal simply on his way to eat. Oliver was undoubtedly a people person, but it was very different to be around your friends, or even family, for long periods of time compared to groups of strangers for weeks on end. “I knew this summit meeting would take a while, but it feels like it’s been happening for ages,” He said as he took his seat. Scrunching his nose, Oliver looked between Diana and Natalie. “It’s not bad that I sort of miss when all these people weren’t in our house, is it?”

Diana looked up from her newspaper at her twin’s voice. “i can’t say i feel the same way, maybe it’s because i wasn’t around for the initial few weeks.” she commented, with a shrug. “it’s not a bad thing as long as you don’t say that to anyone’s face.” she warned. “it’s just for some time. you realise that once we’re heads of states or married to one, we will be required to entertain people all the time. i say, look at it simply as practice for that.” she said, looking back at her newspaper.  

even if having her home flooded with people gave her anxiety, she could never say that out loud. in her eyes, it was her duty to accommodate the other royals in her home. in her head, she wasn’t allowed to complain about this. “besides, having my friends around here, even if it means having every other royal too, is nice. i don’t need to travel a thousand kilometres just to see them.”

Natalie raised an eyebrow at her siblings before shrugging her shoulders. “Are these countries paying for there children to be here or are they freeloading?” she glanced over at Diana. “How much is this costing us?” she let out a small sigh before taking a bite of her food. “I’d like to walk around my home without people constantly watching me, i’d prefer for it to be finished with sooner rather than later.”

“But waiting is part of the fun.” He teased, even though he knew that he was a bit more impatient than she was. Alex rolled his eyes slightly, before he was leaning over and kissing the pout away. The older of the two pulled away, but still kept a hand on her face while a quick flash of hurt filled his eyes, before closing them and when he opened them the hurt was gone. “Break up with you? Why would you think I would? We’ve been together for two years, and I’m hoping we’ll be together for much longer. So no, that isn’t what I wanted to talk about. However, it does have to do with our relationship. Mostly the fact of when are we going to tell are siblings? I mean I would rather they find out from us, instead of them finding out from some random person.” A laugh escaped the brunette, as he shook his head slightly. “Actually no one, it just seemed like faith that we ended up with betrothed to each other.” Alexander shrugged slightly, as a brow raised. “I guess, we still gotta be careful around our siblings but this way seems easier than what we were already trying to do.”

Nat rolled her eyes at the other as she ran a finger along his jaw. “I hate waiting, you know that better than anyone at this point.” she’d grin at the other. She wasn’t blind she saw the slight change in his demeanour. “I love you okay? i don’t think you’ll break up with me but you know things are never set in stone in this life until we’re married.” she let out a small sigh before leaning her head on the others chest. “I’m just scared your parent’s might realise placing two eggs in one basket might be a mistake.” she’d offer the other a small sigh before burying her face in the crook of his neck. “I’m scared of telling them Alex, you are my first real boyfriend and we started dating at such an odd age.” she shook her head at the thought. “Can we tell them after the wedding or just pretend were starting on a blank slate.” she thought back to her conversation with Diana. “I’m not ready to tell Di or Oli just yet, it doesn’t feel fair to shove it in there face.” she’d kiss the other softly. “You don’t regret it do you? keeping a secret from everyone you love for so long?” she’d shake her head not wanting to dwell on the thought. “I did joke to Oli earlier though about what an appropriate amount of time would be before we moved into the same room.” she glanced back up at the other. “What are your thoughts?”

“I could certainly try…but I think one of us may laugh before the conversation actually gets going and it’ll ruin the mood of the whole thing,” He said, waving his hand absently in the air. “That makes me feel better. Especially since it means I won’t have to give them a stern talking to,” he joked. If someone had gone and hurt Natalie, Oliver knew he’d have to do something…he just wasn’t quite sure what exactly that ‘something’ was. He had his doubts that his frowning and scowling may not be enough. “Of course, and we’ll make sure to meet up for the holidays…somehow. I’m sure all three of us will be busy, especially since both Diana and you are future queens, but…we’ll make it work.”

Natalie chuckled softly as she imagined the conversation playing out in her head. “Atleast i don’t have to worry about you kicking his ass then?” she’d smile brightly at her brother. “I guess i should probably get used to knowing his sister right? do you think she’ll hate me?” she let out a small sigh the thought of meeting alex’s sister and oli’s fiance scared her. “I’m just hoping this transition goes as easily as possible.” a cheeky grin appeared on her lips. “Maybe i should just jump right in and ask Alex when he wants to share a room? what do you think, bite the bullet.”

“it’s alright, i don’t want to burden you. you should be focusing on planning your wedding and getting to know your fiance. let me worry about the summit.” diana wasn’t good at delegating or really letting anyone work on her own projects, she was a perfectionist and a control freak. she knew that. she smiled “life isn’t fair. but all of us work with what we have.” she shook her head, with a smile as her sister asked to be taught how to be as prepared as the crown princess “when i learn myself how, i shall teach you i promise.” she wasn’t as put-together and prepared as everyone thought, in her head, she was just really good at keeping up the facade.

Natalie let out a small sigh as her sister brushed her off again. “Yeah, that makes sense.” she nodded her head before putting a small distance between herself and Diana. “You never want help, why would i assume you’d want any now.” she’d offer the other a small smile as she thought of Alex. She didn’t need time to get to know her fiance, she needed time to reconnect with her sister. “It’s all apart of some grand scheme is it not? everything happens for a reason.”

“of course you’re allowed to be scared dear. just never let anyone see it.” she advised. “no need for gratitude, Nat. i’m your elder sister, giving guidance is a part of the job.” when she asked she had been, Diana didn’t know what to say. she was under stress due to managing the summit, she was nervous about her own engagement. her mental health wasn’t at its best. she put on a smile and assured “i am absolutely fine. just a little tiered, but nothing i can’t handle.”

Nat nodded her head before giving her sisters hand a light squeeze. “If you ever need any help with this whole thing i don’t really mind.” she’d offer the other a small smile. “it’s not fair that you have to handle it all on your own, and maybe it’ll teach me a little about managing something other than myself.” she let out a small sigh. “Maybe you can teach me how to be as prepared as you.”
