Klarisza momentarily froze when she heard the voice, of course fate would be twisted enough to pair her with Jakubs father. She hadn’t realised it was he who was sat beside her, or she would have tried to go a little while longer without dealing with him. “Mateo, long time no see.” She forced a smile on her face, kicking herself internally, was that really the best that she could come up with? It was her fault that things had grown distant between the two, pulling away once she realised she was pregnant with his child and covering it up with her parents.

having just arrived, mateo had found his room clumsily, still under the affect of jetlag before he quickly undressed down to his underwear and crashed onto the bed. he was out cold, snoring loudly until he was startled awake by something -- or rather, by someone, as he’d find out now. looking at the person with only one eye open, the spanish prince had an expression of pure confusion. ‘ que es eso ? ’
“Oooh.. it’s a cute little spider.. come here, love…”
looking at the woman who was seemingly after a spider -- a cute little one at that, as she claimed, mateo raised a brow. ‘ what exactly are you gonna do with a ... spider ? ’
“I don’t know if it’s because I’m tired or if this is just who I am as a person, but I was watching Our Planet on Netflix and I don’t think I’ve ever been so stressed.” Klarisza sighed, shaking her head. “On one hand, I want the predator to get food so it can survive, but on the other I want the prey to survive because they’re just so cute…”
turning around to look at the woman talking to him in the lounge area, mateo pursed his lips in thought. ‘ big fish eat the small fish -- i guess that’s just the ... circle of life, for us. ’ he said with a proud grin on his reference, sheepishly shrugging. then, after a better look at her, the feeling of familiarity emerged, causing the spanish prince to squint his eyes and force his memory quietly.

okay so, this idiot is mateo (actually has a long af name which i’m too lazy to put down rn), 29 years old spanish prince -- but actually half mexican due to *drum roll* him actually being from another man.
basically, back in the day, the queen was actually forced into marrying the king of spain by her parents. after the birth of their first son, the mother began an affair with a commoner which would last for decades in secret and result in a son -- mateo.
no one knows about it though -- no one but mateo and his late mother. last year, on her deathbed, she revealed this secret to mateo and then forced her first son (from the king) abdicate as her last wish. mateo’s older brother never knew why but did it for their mother regardless.
mateo is still in shock because of the whole thing. as the second oldest, he had grown up quite irresponsible and rebellious, always the fun-loving, careless one while the eldest was the perfect fit for the throne. now he is quite lost.
but as it was his mother’s last wish, mateo is trying to be more fit for the crown and to show the king that he can handle it. in reality, he doesn’t know if he really can.
another note -- he hooked up with klarisza years ago and unknown to him, he’s actually a father. The !! Drama !!!
overall, he’s a brave, charismatic, fun-loving prince who’s a god in bed, legend on his bike, bad at responsiblities (so far at least) and the worst at being serious for two minutes straight.
he’s bound to have quite a lot of FRIENDS, maybe a BEST FRIEND / CONFIDANT or two, some DRINKING / CLUBBING BUDDIES, a few EXES maybe and many, many FWBs / ONE NIGHT STANDS ??? just give everything to me !!
