Andrea had always been the first person to stand infront of the coffee place. She thought about getting a coffee machine in the house, but prompted against it, only because she knew she’d hardly get out and stay cramped up inside, never seeing the light of day. But now, she stood infront 20 minutes too early. “Crap.” She said, looking at the sign. She had two choices, either get back in her car and drive to some petrol station and pretend to be satisfied with coffee that was too bitter for something that hardly tasted of caffeine, or wait it out. She opted for the later version, and strolled to the nearest bench. “I can already tell how this day is going to be.” She said to no one in particular, before realising there actually was someone besides her. “Early riser or just sleep doesn’t get to you these days?” She hardly slept herself and coffee was definitely one of the few things that kept her alive and functioning.
Nate had been up for the past twenty-four. or so, hours. He’d only taken a single break from dealing with rowdy customers and making sure everything was in order at La Luna, and now that he was finally off, it was almost time to head over to Hale’s for some paperwork. So, to say coffee was of the essence, was an understatement. He could’ve had the coffee at Hale’s Diner, but honestly? He needed a shot, or five, of espresso, and the best in town were served at the Corner Cafe. When he had made it there and discovered it closed, he’d opted to stay and wait, sitting on a bench outside looking at the street, so empty it made Charming seem like a ghost town. When someone sat next to him on the bench, Nate looked towards the woman and nodded, “Tell me about it. Today’s going to be rough” He said with conviction, before looking back out on the street. “I just got off work and I’m heading to my second job now, so sleep just isn’t really an option” It was though, since he was his own boss, but Nate didn’t look at it that way. He needed to work to function — Sleep came second.
