I think I'm gonna crawl under a rock
And drink for a while. Being stuck in a house full of people, I’m just done.
Just admit it, it would have been better if I had been there.
Well everyone,
It finally happened.
It looks like congratulations are in order. Good for you, Nat! Dorian's a lucky man.
DAMN!
"Could very well be giants." Cici laughed, rubbing her bump affectionately."Considering who the father is. But I’m having triplets." She explained. "Noah was small when he was little though, it’s what Wyatt tells me. So I don’t think I ‘ll have to worry about birthing three giants. Just three normal sized babies." She smiled at her friend, trying to contain the laugh that bubbled up from the shocked look on his face. "We’ve named them Peanut, Butter, and Jelly."
"You’re just a talented little squirt, aren’t you." Cici beamed when Finny reached for her and she felt herself tear up a little bit, damn her hormones and Finny’s cuteness. "Aww of course you can come here." Cici took her from Nate’s arms, cradling her close. "Well, angel’s are really strong right? Guess she inherited some of that from daddy. Huh?" She tickled under Finny’s chin, smiling in response to the happy gurgle it elicited."Oh and mommy too. Vampire’s are strong as well. By the way, how is Selena? Doing okay even though you know who is still out there? For being a preemie I can’t believe how chubby Finny is! You’re like a little dough baby." She laughed. "Aww daddy’s no fun, huh?a bug ol’ party pooper." Cici said teasingly looking pointedly at Nate.
He didn't catch the 's' on the end of 'giants' until she dropped the news of the triplets on him. He stared at him, shocked and unsure what to say. Just a few weeks ago, she had been disappointed that she wasn't already pregnant. He blinked at her and finally formed the words to reply, "Good to know that the'll be of average size. Bless your heart, Cecilia." He shook his head, but he couldn't keep the grin off of his face. "Sounds like good enough names to me."
Nate sat back, enjoying just watching Cici with Finny. She was going to be a fantastic mother, and he couldn't wait to see her juggling all three of her own. "I'm surprised she inherited as much from me as she did," He admitted. "I would've thought that me losing my angel status would've made any offspring I have human. Well part vampire because of Sel, but get human genes from me." He nodded. "She's great. I think I'm more paranoid about him still being around than she is. She's... oddly calm about it. We haven't talked about it much." He grinned at the mention of chunky Finny. "You don't have to beg her to eat." He agreed. "Well if she does it, maybe she'll come over here. Because what's one more when you've already got three." He teased. "I'm so excited for you, Cici. You're gonna be great." He said seriously. "Are you more excited for a son or a daughter?"
Crash!
Alyssa nibbled her lip and nuzzled his neck as he pulled her free from the car and sat her down on the concrete. It felt nice to be on something flat, “My feet don’t hurt.. My wrist and head..” Looks up at him and sees his worried face, “I said not to worry!” Well she hadn’t out loud but at the moment it didn’t matter, she had wanted him to not worry.
Raising a shaky hand to her head she winced, “I-I think I hit my-” Pulls her hand away and stares at all the blood that coated her fingers, “I-I don’t think I am that hurt Nate.. I don’t feel.. I dont… I..” Blinks a few times, god she couldn’t think! Looking up at Nate, hair matted to her face and neck from the blood, “Am I ok?” Closes her eyes, her head splitting from a headache.
"Of course you're going to be fine." He replied, but he didn't think she heard him. If it had been anyone else other than her, he would have reacted normally and done the level headed thing. But this wasn't a stranger, this was Alyssa. And when she went slack in his arms and her eyes rolled back as she passed out, he just reacted. Pressing his hand to the side of her face, he closed his eyes and focused on making his magic flow through his body and into hers. His skin and hers glowed at the contact, and he could feel the tingle of magic radiating up his arm. The blood didn't go away, but the cut in her head knitted back together, and even when he felt her start to wake up, he didn't pull away. He'd already started this - he might as well finish healing up her wounds.
He finally pulled away, satisfied that she was fixed but terrified of how she was going to react. "Aly.. I'm sorry, you scared me." He said with the shake of his head, not sure what else to say. His secret was out, and he wasn't sure how she was going to take it. Would she even recognize it for what it was? He swallowed, his throat suddenly tight. At least her eyes were clear again and no longer dilated.
DAMN!
The call connected and Cici smiled when she heard Nate’s voice.”Hey, cutie, how are you?” She shifted on the couch, trying to keep from making any sounds of discomfort. She felt like she might have to hurl but she hadn’t talked to Nate in ages, she didn’t want anything interrupting this.
After she spoke Cici felt an odd breeze and looked to see where is was coming from when she saw Nate sitting next to her.”What the hell?!” Cici gasped and stared at him. They seemed to be ob totally different trains of thought because while Nate was freaking about about her bump Cici was gobsmacked by how the hell he was in her house.”12 weeks, what the hell! How are you here… Did Finny do this?” She stared down at Finny who seems all too pleased with herself.”You are gonna be a big headache for mommy and daddy aren’t you?” Cici smiled.
Cici seemed to be as shocked as he was, but his brain was too caught up with the surprise of her pregnancy to be worried about how he and Finny had ended up on her couch. "Twelve weeks?" He repeated. She was huge! Well not huge, but much larger than Sel had been early on in her pregnancy. "Are you growing a giant in there or what?" They all joked and laughed about how big and tall Noah was, but this took the joke to a whole new level.
Blinking out of his daze, he looked down at his daughter who was gurgling happily in his lap, her eyes trained on Cici as her little arms reached out towards the woman. "I guess...?" There was no other explanation. He didn't have wings and she did. "I just don't know how something so small flew us here." He offered her to Cici, because Finny was squirming to get to her and wouldn't be satisfied until she was in her arms. "You're not kidding." A frown pulled at the corner of his mouth. "You better not make a habit of this, unless you take Mommy or Daddy with you, little angel." He chastised though his tone was gentle. He lightly pinched her big toe pointedly.
Will You Go Out With Me? No Homo.
What do the cupids in heaven look like? Wyatt replied back curiously. His first question was that cupid really existed, but that was obvious considering what Nate said. Didn’t see the need to have he doubly confirmed. Why not? Valentine’s day is a big thing. You gotta learn some how. Of course, Wyatt knew why Nate would think a date was a bad idea. And Wyatt kind of had to agree. Nate wasn’t really ready for the dating scene yet, especially not on VAlentines Dasy. But Nate didn’t necessarily need to know that.
Well, I have something lined up but… I think this is too good a teaching moment for you to pass up. Why don’t I call and cancel and I can be your date this year? Wyatt’s finger hovered over the send button. Once it was sent there was no taking it back, so did he really want to do this? Yes, he decided, firmly pressing the screen.
They are beautiful. Certainly not babies with love arrows. That's not how it works. Nate typed out in reply. He stared at his phone as the next text rolled in, but he didn't reply, unsure what to say. Learning experience or not, he just couldn't see it going well. No one needed to get stuck with him on this holiday of love. It'd go down in that person's life as the worst date ever.
He shook his head and began to reply when he got Wyatt's other message. Caught totally off guard, he read it twice before he was sure he wasn't imagining things. Surely that wasn't normal. His hands were a little shaky though he couldn't put his finger on the reason why, and it made replying all the more difficult. With a final glower at his flip phone, he snapped it shut and fluttered his wings. With a brief sound of flapping wings, he found himself in Wyatt's house a few seconds later. "Are you sure that's what you want to do?" He said by way of greeting, a look of concern coloring his face. "Because I think you should go on that date and not waste the day on me." He frowned. Despite his words, somewhere deep down he hoped that Wyatt would do as he said. It wasn't something he could explain let alone find the words to say it aloud though.
Crash!
Alyssa let her head lean back against the headrest after trying the door again, it wouldn’t budge. She knew better than to close her eyes for a long time, she might be hurt worse than she knew. The sound of a car coming up on the scene had her sitting up again, blood dripping down her neck making her shirt wet. Seeing who it was she sighed, figures it would be him. She was happy to see him, but she didn’t want him making a fuse like he did when he ran to her.
In seconds he had the door off, his words were a blur, “I-I’m fine…” Reaching out she wrapped her arm around his neck, suddenly all the pain hit her. Her face hit his neck and it was like coming home, her throbbing wist and splitting headache eased until he started moving her out of the car. A hiss escaped her lips as they tried to untangle her legs from the wreckage, “Just pull…” Looks up into his face and offers a small smile hoping to reassure them both.
When she wrapped her arm around his neck, his hands braced her, trying to still her movement. "Hold on, we don't know how badly hurt you are." And that was when she cried out, and his face paled. "What hurts?" Nate asked again, trying to keep his voice steady. It was so much harder to be objective when it was a dear friend in danger rather than a stranger. He held her for a moment, hoping he could comfort her.
"Just go easy," He told her as he tried to pull her out out of the car. "Do your legs hurt?" He asked, trying to glance behind her to see if they might have been crushed. He looked back to her and was once again taken aback by how much blood was on her skin. He tilted her face to get a better look at her eyes. "I think you're concussed." He said with a frown. He needed to find out where all this blood was coming from. "Do you feel woozy?"
Will You Go Out With Me? No Homo.
Wy glowered at his phone, the dim screen displaying the date as if it was mocking him. The day before valentine’s day and he didn’t have a date. IT wasn’t that he couldn’t get a date though. There were plenty of girls he was sure would trip over themselves if he asked. But there was someone specifically he wanted to ask, though he was way to nervous to do so.
As if the tough of that person seemed to summon them his phone’s screen lit up, proudly declaring he had a new text message from his friend Nathan. Finally, he guy was learning how to use his dinosaur of a phone. He chuckled as he read the message. seems the hospital has decorated for the holiday and Nate was confused.
Those fat angels are Cupids, dork. It’s for Valentines Day. Don’t you pay attention? You’ve got a date right?
Wyatt pressed send, an idea forming in his head.
Nate still didn't really understand some of the human holidays, and Valentine's Day was no exception. At the hospital and at work, he'd heard people both talking highly of it and others condemning it. Posters, cards, and ads (for flowers and candies) littered the hallways. Red, white, and pink hearts covered everything, and perhaps the thing Nathan had the most trouble understanding were the fat angels in diapers, holding a bow and arrow.
So, he did the only sensible thing - he texted Wyatt and asked him about it. He'd know. Wy always knew.
His friend didn't keep him waiting long. Hearing the answering chime of his phone, he flipped it open and read his reply. Cupids? He thought in confusion. As quickly as he could, which still wasn't very fast, he typed out, 'Those look nothing like the cupids in heaven. How do humans get everything so twisted?' He paled a little at the mention of having a date. 'No, I don't think that would be a good idea.' He hit send. All of this was still too new to him, and taking someone out on a date? He shook his head. It could only end in disaster.
'Do you have a valentine?' He sent in a separate message, almost as an after thought. That's how people said it, right?
CPR Class || Nate and Aly
Alyssa never saw herself as ever taking a night class, but this was only time the class was offered; CPR class. Alyssa figured since she was going to learn how to care for animals she had better know how to save a persons life if the time ever came, she was after all going to get her doctorate. Stepping into the room she was shocked, all about were dummies and body diagrams. She had no idea what she was getting herself into, but shrugging her shoulders she took a seat at the table in the front of the class room. Shrugging off her bag she pulled out a note book and a pen- it was not unusual for her to be the first one to the class but sitting among the unliving was making her a bit creeped out. Playing with her long dark hair she watched as several other students entered the room- each getting the weirded out face which made her want to tell she agreed.
Nate was still getting used to the feeling of having a bond with someone, even if it was only one sided. He felt her as soon as she pulled into the parking lot, her presence a happy and genuinely pleasant one. He hadn't spoke to her yet, just watched from afar and made sure not to draw her attention. He still wasn't sure how he should handle meeting her. Yes tonight he would be close, in the same CPR certification class as her, but he still wasn't sure if he should introduce himself. In the back of his mind there was a nagging fear, What if she thinks you're weird? How can I watch over someone who doesn't like me or want me around? No, it'd be much more simple remaining strangers for now, unless by some act of God they were forced together.
He got out of his car and headed into the building, making his way through the halls until he located the class room. The room was already pretty full by the time he walked in, and he scanned the room for an empty seat. His stomach lurched when his eyes landed on her and he realized that the only free seat left was right next to her. Was this your plan? He asked God, his mental tone apprehensive. He didn't want to make an idiot of himself. He forced himself move, and he sat down quietly beside her. Could get through this whole thing without talking to her? He doubted it. His mouth felt dry and his palms felt sweaty. Glancing over at her, he offered her a small smile. "Hi, how are you?"
Crash!
Alyssa was heading back to the campus after a wonderful weekend home seeing her family. Turning up the radio she jammed out to Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’, as she topped the hill her cars stereo signal went out- prolly from the storms that had plegued the city. Turning it down she fiddled with the tuner trying to find the station again. Looking up from the stereo she slammed her foot to the brakes but it was too late.
In a flash her car hit the remnants of a tree that must have fallen into the road. The sound of crushing metal and squealing breaks filled her head before everything went black.
Blinking open her eyes some time later she looked around, adrenaline filling her when she realized what happened. Pushing the air bag out of her way she unbuckled her seat belt and tried to wrench her door open bit it was stuck. Finding her phone she dialed 911, she never noticed how bad her wrist hurt, how purple it was and all of the blood oozing out of a head wound. She calmly explained what happened and the call director said she was sending the fire department then an ambulance. Leaning back Alyssa waited hoping her best friend was not working- he didn’t need to worry.
The band of severe storms had caused their share of trouble throughout the night, and Nathan had been called into work to help with all the emergency calls that were coming in. He'd seen a couple of wrecks, a house that had been damaged when a tree fell on it and injured one of the people inside, and one unfortunate fool who had managed to get caught out in the mini hail storm they had had. Things had just seemed to start quieting down when he felt it, the unbearable sense that something was very wrong. His stomach churned, his heart pounded hard against his ribs, and a clammy sweat threatened to trickle down his temple. Alyssa, he realized with scary certainty. Somehow he just knew something had happened to her. He had to find her.
He followed his gut to where it told him to go, and half way there he received a call from dispatch telling him about another wreck. His grip on the steering wheel tightened until his knuckles blanched white. "God, please let her be okay." He prayed. He couldn't bare the thought of losing her. He was sure that'd leave a hole in him that could never be filled again.
The scene wasn't as horrific as he'd imagined, but it was still terrifying to see a car he recognized mangled next to a downed tree. Fire hadn't arrived yet, and there was no one else around. He climbed out of the ambulance. Due to the busy night, he was alone. He rushed to the driver's side of the car, shouting as he moved, "Alyssa?" The door took a hard tug before it came open, and his eyes swept over her. At first glance, there was a lot of blood, and that worried him. He knelt beside her. "What all hurts?" Upon closer inspection, he could see that something was wrong with her wrist. "Hang tight, I'm going to get you out of here."
"Woooorth it." Wyatt protested, licking up another dollop. He always said that when he ate chocolate. And usually it was worth it. But he knew Momo would be all over him when he got sick later tonight. "It is. Just isn’t very nice on the tongue. Does Sel complain? Or does her mouth spend more time in other areas??"Wyatt snickered. At his question a cocky smirk pulled on Wyatt’s lips and he ran off, returning with a towel he’d snagged from his car." Ha! I did think ahead. This was premeditated after all. I also brought a banana cream pie."
Nate shook his head. He seriously doubted that. "Don't call me if you need someone to rub your tummy tonight." He joked. He opened his mouth to respond, but it quickly snapped shut as he mock-glowered at his friend. "I swear, is sex all you wolves think about?" He said, failing to keep a straight face. "I haven't heard any complaints from her." He raised his eyebrows at him as he accepted the towel. "And what had you planned to do with it?" He wiped what he hoped was the rest of the chocolate before Wyatt could lick any more of it. "If you were looking for an excuse to lick me, you should have used it." He grinned.
M!A: Muse thinks they are Batman
Fuck you, I am Batman.
This isn’t a joke. Gotham needs us, Robin.
Do I look like Boy Wonder to you? -gasps- You know, now that you mention it, I think I saw the Joker on my way home from work last night.
M!A: Muse thinks they are Batman
Fuck you, I am Batman.
And where is your cowl and cape?
DAMN!
*sighs looking down at her phone, scrolling through her contacts* Oh where oh where had my angel gone? Oh where, oh where could he be? With his blue eyes so big and that adorable baby of his. Oh where oh where could he be? *hits call when she gets to Nate’s number, drumming her fingers on the couch while she waits for him to pick up*
Nate was sitting on the couch with baby Finny in his arms, gently bouncing her on his lap when the sound of his phone ringing filled the room. "Who's that calling?" He asked baby Finny with exaggerated wide eyes before he reached forward to snag it off of the coffee table. Seeing it was Cici, a smile lit up his face as he answered, "Hello, stranger."
There was a sudden jolt rush through him, a feeling he hadn't felt since he'd fell. Blinking in confusion, he turned his head and found himself locking eyes with Cici herself. Finny, still on his lap, made a pleased cooing sound. "Cici," He gaped at her. "This is unexpected." His gaze swept downward and landed on a small but obvious baby bump, and he felt another jolt of surprise. "Oh my God," He raised his eyes to meet hers. "When did that happen? How far along are you?" Questions gushed out of him, his and Finny's teleporting momentarily forgotten.
Closing Hour - Macy & Nathan
“Sure thing,” Macy reached behind her with an obvious familiarity with her surroundings. Handing him the menu, she lifted her brows in question. “Sweet or unsweet tea?” An errant lock of hair escaped yet again and she tucked in behind her ear. She shifted away to get his drink, but she could swear she felt his eyes following her as she moved. Then she called her mind back to order. Really, what else was he supposed to look at right now? It was a slow night and nothing much to be seen out the window. Don’t go getting paranoid, she thought to herself. A smile was firmly back in place as she turned around. Putting the glass of tea in front of him, she waited for him to decide what he wanted so she could get the order to the back.
“Thanks,” she replied with a quick, bright chuckle. “Caleb will be pleased to hear that. We certainly do try.” She leaned on the counter as he spoke. “Oh, you hit a good night for quiet. It’s usually a bit busier than this, but for some reason everything’s been slow tonight, and we’re getting closer to closing, so it’s not likely to start hopping.” A light laugh bubbled up as she caught him glancing at his watch. “Don’t worry about it though. We’ve still got another hour before then.”
"Sweet, please," Nate told her, glancing up from the menu she'd given him briefly. Everything listed sounded good to him, and his stomach seemed to grumble in agreement. "I'll take a grilled ham and cheddar, please." He told her when she returned for his order. "And fries." He passed her his menu. "Thank you.
He raised a brow at the name Caleb, but he stayed quiet. Caleb wasn't exactly a rare name, but the one he had known of had been a strong angel. He wondered if it was a coincidence that this girl - who was at least part angel - worked for a man with the same name. "Good to know," He said, glancing around to see if he saw the other man. When he came up with nothing, he returned his gaze to hers. "I typically try to avoid huge crowds." He admitted sheepishly. "I'll try not to keep you from going home."
He struggled inwardly for something to say. Socializing still wasn't his forte, but she was pleasant. "Have you lived in NOLA long?" Was the first thing that came out of his mouth, and he nearly cringed at how dumb he sounded to his own ears.
Gonna baptize finny?
Sel and I have talked about it, and yes, we hope to in the near future.
