It wasn’t that hard, really. Carry only what you can hold, and only what you can hold securely. Don’t stack your arms five units high and then jog across the lab. Not that hard. Or, apparently, harder than he thought. So hard, in fact, that even after being told to be careful, one of Neil’s coworkers had overloaded themselves and dropped a unit of blood. And then stepped on it.
After that, all he could clearly remember was throwing his earpiece at the counter as he left the room as quickly as physically possible so as to avoid embarrassing situations involving himself diving face first into the thick, dark pool on the floor. Walking quickly down hallways at random until he was satisfied he couldn’t smell it any longer, and then he’d sat himself down firmly in a waiting area and clamped his eyes shut. Heel tapping quickly on the tile, he tried to ignore everything happening around him--until he heard footsteps with no heart beat associated.
“Don’t go down that hall.”

Glaring up after Xing, Neil pushed himself up off the pavement and onto his knees. “Maybe I’m really good at looking dead because I am dead, Xing. Have you considered that as an option?” He kept his voice level enough not to sound too outwardly flippant, eyes back on the cat. “Are you calling him Catnip? That’s a horrible name for a cat. He just doesn’t like it when I smell like work, too hospital sterile.” Rolling back onto his heels, Neil rested his elbows on his knees. “And I do not need you to introduce me to the cats. I’ve been nocturnal in this town for fifteen years now, I know the cats.”
“I have, actually,” Xing smiled, not phased by Neil’s passive aggression. “Seriously? I thought Catnip was cute. What do you call him?” He sat down properly and eyed Neil curiously. “Yeah me neither,” Xing snorted, “not that my opinion matters though.” The cat meowed loudly at the two of them, prompting Xing to begin to pet it. “Damn… I need to catch up. You should introduce me to some then. It’ll be a bonding time for us.”
"Well." Neil crossed his arms over his chest, watching the cat with a deep dissatisfaction on his face. “It’s not cute, it’s patronizing. And misleading. Did you bring him any catnip?” A short sniff in the air told the vampire otherwise. “You’re just fooling him into thinking he’s going to get a reward that you don’t even have with you. And his name is Walter, so call him Walter. That’s what his name is.”
What are your passions?
Passions are such a contrived thing to label yourself with. People can have talents, things they’re good at, and there are things people can want or want to learn. But there’s no such thing as a life’s calling, it’s a series of decisions that you actively made.
Favorite blood type?
AB is more... complex, I guess. Interesting. Rh positive makes me feel sort of nauseous, which is probably all in my head from thinking of myself as Rh negative while I was alive. So, I guess AB-.
How do you feel about Devil's Watch, and Windswell?
It’s where I’ve always been. Coming back was inevitable, I guess. I was raised here, I left, but apparently it’s the only place for me. The unimaginative world was dry and lifeless and now I am. Windswell is a really awful place to be violently allergic to the sun, but, for now... it’s what I’ve got, because it’s all I’ve ever had.

what are some of your fondest memories?
[Message deleted]
anyone that intrigues you?
Depends on what you mean by ‘intrigues’.
have you ever been stung by a bee?
Once. As a little kid. Had an allergic reaction, so I stopped going outside so much. My mother didn’t believe in Epipens, so.
What are you planning to do in the future?
I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know.
who are you interested in getting to know better?
It’s not really my choice about wanting to know anyone better. It’s their choice whether they want me to know them or not. I’m not going to force my attention on anyone.
what is raban to you?
I met him a long time ago. I knew him for a little while. That’s it. That’s everything.
If you could back in time and avoid being changed to a vampire, would you?
Would I go back in time and take a cab instead of walking so I didn’t get murdered in an alley? Yes. Hands down.
who do you fear most?
J. P. Patches.
Before next year, maybe?
