âTurns out, it actually doesnât take that much to scare people into hiding.â
corinnacrouch:
âNo, of course not. I absolutely hate sketching and I do it for exactly that reason. I am a sadist and enjoy torturing myself by doing activities that I find repulsive such as art, and all of the paintings in my room add to that one fact,â she told him sarcastically before looking up to see him holding the smoldering cigarette out to her. âWhat do you mean, try it?â she asked as a feeble protest. After a moment, one eyebrow raised, she took it from him. Holding it between to fingers, she watched the smoke curl out of the end, rolling the thing between her fingers. âDo I just breath in?â she asked, pulling the end nearer to her lips.
Nate smiles, amused, simply raising an eyebrow and waiting for her to finish her sarcastic reply. âI meant,â He finally said, speaking slowly. âIf you mostly just sketch or if you like other forms of art as well. You know, oil paintings, sculptures, that kind of thing.â He laughed lightly, shaking his head. âThough in retrospect, my question was horribly worded and by your reply Iâm judging that you do enjoy sketching.â He raises an eyebrow curiously, âWhat else do you like?â Nate smiles michievously, leaning back again to look at her. âYep. But donât do it too quickly or the smoke might irritate your throat.â
"Stop this! This isn't funny!"
âShh, calm down! Itâs just meâ He whispered urgently, removing his hand from her mouth. Nathan had only just sneaked back into the castle after one of his frequent after hours rendezvous to Hogsmeade. Not expecting anyone else to be up this late, he had perhaps acted  hastily. In retrospect it was apparent that jumping out of the shadows, only to bind the unsuspecting girlâs hands behind her back and to cover her mouth, could be considered very alarming. âSorry about that,â He offers her a sheepish smile, taking a step back.Â
corinnacrouch:
Corinna hit him on the arm rather hard. âThatâs for jumping me.â Once more she hit him, this time more of a swat that a full hit. âAnd thatâs for sneaking out of your common room at three am.â Running a hand through her hair she leaned back against the wall as her racing heart slowed down, no longer threatening to break through her rib cage out of fear. âAnd why would you do that to anyone? Regardless of whether or not it was me, Lestrange, Merlin! It could have been a teacher, or another student, or someone who could have gotten you out thrown out of school for attacking someone in the halls.â
âOuch,â Nate cried out, not expecting her to actually hit him. He couldnât help the flash of anger that coursed through him but luckily, Nate had always been exceedingly good at keeping his anger in check. Besides there was no point in getting angry at her, if anything it would just ruin the fun. He rubs the spot, laughing a little in an attempt to lighten the mood. âI hope youâre happy now.â Nate holds up his hands in a sign of ceasefire, âI suppose I deserved that.â He leaned back against the wall, a smile spreading across his lips, âHey, look, I know that was pretty fucked up and Iâm sorry, I honestly didnât mean to. It was just kind of an instinct.â He raises an eyebrow, speaking calmly, âI could tell it was a student but I didnât mean to attack you. I didnât realize it would be this startling.â
Deja Vu || Rosemary & Nathaniel
rosemary-mo0n:
Rosemary pursed her lips, rolling her eyes, before pocketing her infraction pad and opening the door behind her. âIn.â she demanded impatiently. Not many students, even students older than herself, were thick enough to disobey a prefectâs orders, and luckily Nathaniel was no different. Following the boy inside, she gestured to a nearby window. She settled herself on the ledge, leaning up against the stone wall behind her.
She waited until the rule breaker was settled himself before she began speaking. âBecause this is a repeat infraction, I hope you donât mind that I get some feedback from you. My goal is to avoid writing you up, truthfully, but Iâm going to need your complete honesty if thatâs going to happen.â she explained earnestly. âIf I do have to write you up, Iâm sure youâre aware I will be forced to put you on activities probation.â she warned calmly. âI assure you, however, Iâd really prefer to correct this behavior rather than punish you arbitrarily.â she continued, her eyes scanning the Slytherinâs face.
âAll that being said, I hope you donât mind telling me whatâs so difficult about staying inside your dorm?â she finished, her head tilting inquisitively.
Nate raises an eyebrow at the commanding edge in her tone but decides not to protest. After all, he was hardly in the position to do so; if he wanted to persuade her to let the incident go unrecorded it would be best to go along with her and see how things turned out. With a small shrug of his shoulders, Nathaniel pushed his hands inside his pockets and followed her inside with no complaints. He sits down next to her, leaning his head against the wall and folding his arms across his chest.
As Rosemary spoke, Nathaniel understood that if he played his cards right, there was indeed a pretty good chance of her letting him go with only a âwarningâ. Maybe he would still be able sneak out of the castle for his nightly trips to Hogsmeade, despite the probation but he knew that it would surely effect his other activities such as Quidditch and he wasnât all that keen on it.  Of course in the future he would just have to be on alert and much more careful. Nathaniel hardly cared much for her seemingly sincere attempt at disciplining him but he schooled his expression in one of keen interest nodding, nodding along with her.
âI was having trouble sleeping,â He finally replied, looking down at his hands for a second. âSo I just decided to go out for a little walk. I guess, I just wanted to step outside for a moment.â He smiled sheepishly, turning to look at her, âAnd I know that doesnât excuse anything but it wonât happen again.â
I really donât think thatâs how itâs done..

Deja Vu || Rosemary & Nathaniel
rosemary-mo0n:
As the night came to a close, Rosemary yawned, bundling herself up tightly against the chilling wind that whipped her hair wildly around her head. It was the final step of the night, walking the perimeter of the castle to ensure nothing was out of order on the grounds. It was also the last line of defense against students sneaking out of bed. If anyone had made it out of the castle, this would be where theyâd get caught: on the return trip. It wasnât often she found a student dim enough to be caught outside the castle, but as she approached the final leg of her route, the sight of a distant student ambling toward the courtyard entrance of the castle told her tonight would be a special occasion.
She quickened her pace and within a moment, she had positioned herself directly in front of the door the student had been heading toward. She pulled out her infraction pad and quill, holding it at the ready as the dark haired student neared. âI hope your little excursion was well worth it. Thought you could sneak in through the back, then?â she said evenly, as the face of the student was illuminated by a nearby flickering torch. âBlimey â Lestrange? Havenât we done this before?â she cried in recognition, suddenly frustrated that she was faced with the same student repeating the same infraction in a new year.
Nathaniel was only just returning from one of his after hours excursions to Hogsmeade. His trips had started in fifth year, when he first started to realize just how dreadfully boring the castle could be. That was incidentally also the first year he started to have trouble sleeping. Over the next two years, his resentment for the place and his sleeplessness had only grown, the need to get out of the place growing stronger and his trips had become more frequent. He was usually careful enough to not be seen while sneaking in or out but there were slip ups occasionally. Tonight just seemed to be one of those nights.
Nathaniel only noticed her when she was already standing at the door, poised with her infraction pad to write him up, the dim moonlight highlighting her figure. He knew it was already too late to try to slip away, not to mention that doing so would only raise more questions. Questions that he would be hard pressed to answer and which were better left unasked. Of course he would have preferred there to be no record of his infractions but there wasnât much he could do about it. âIt did go quite well, thank you-â He started to say but was cut off by her exclamation. âHave we?â He asked with raised eyebrows, recognizing her as the Prefect who had indeed caught him before. A small smirk spread across his lips, âWell well, Moon, we have to stop meeting like this.â

corinnacrouch:
âReally?â she asked in a hissed whisper, holding up her still bound hands in front of him. âGet me out of this right now or I swear, you will be the first and probably only person to get a detention from me this year. âWhat the bloody hell were you doing anyways? Itâs three in the morning, Lestrange, you;re supposed to be in your common room, or sleeping, or anywhere but wandering the halls, oh my God!â Usually she would not be so angry, but after being scared nearly half to death during her rounds she was less than ready to accept whatever halfassed apology he would give her.
While her anger was perfectly justifiable, Nathaniel couldnât help but be amused by her reaction. âAlright, alright hold on,â He said, struggling to keep his signature smirk off his lips and instead contorting his expression in a contrite one, one that was much more appropriate for the situation. He waves his wand, unbinding her hands with a simple non-verbal spell. âThere we go,â He offers her a smile, âLook I get, I alarmed you but I didnât realize it was you and Iâm sorry. I couldnât sleep so I simply went to the kitchen but I should definitely have been more careful.â
corinnacrouch:
âYes, really, and no. I leave the ground. I get away so I donât get caught. You should try it sometimes,â she suggested, erasing a line. âAnd no, Iâve never really smoked before. Isnât it extremely dangerous?â she asked, already knowing the answer. Despite the many people she saw smoking around the grounds, she had never asked for one, and no one had ever offered. âIâm sketching that tree right there,â she told him, pointing to it, âbut right now its leaves are being particularly evasive. Itâs hard to get shading right when the light source is ever changing.â
Nate shrugs, âI do get away every now and today I didnât quite feel like getting wet,â He gestured with his eyebrows to the pouring rain. âSo I thought, fuck it, if I get caught, I get caught. Its not that big a deal anyway.â He laughs wryly, shaking his head, âItâs not like youâll smoke one and drop dead right then and there. There are plenty of things much more dangerous.â He proffered the cigarette, his eyes glinting, âGo on, try it.â He turned to look at the tree and nodded after a moment, âYeah I can see why it must be tricky.â He says even though he had zero knowledge about the dynamics of arts. âDo you usually like to sketch?â

âYou canât run and you canât hide.â
Nathaniel was leaning against a tree, some distance off in plain view. He laughs mockingly, shaking his head. âWhy in the world,â He starts to say, walking towards Thorley, âWould I need to hide from you?â
âWhy are you doing this?â (Emery)
âItâs just a little fun.. nothing personal.â Nathaniel answered with a small smirk, twirling his wand between his fingers.

corinnacrouch:
âI have too skipped classes before!â she said quickly, not sure why she felt such a need to defend herself. âI just donât go outside the castle to smoke when I do,â she said, gesturing to his cigarette. It was useless to argue with him anyways. Every time she tried, it did her no good. He would only continue until she gave up, and while she wasnât too sure if it was a good thing or not, she wasnât too sure if she cared. She crinkled her nose up slightly as the smoke curling up from his cigarette reached her nose, trying to focus on her sketch. It would not be easy to focus, but she was determined to finish at least the first part before her attention would likely be pulled away.âÂ
âReally?â He asks with a mischievous grin, raising an eyebrow. Nate laughs wryly, â Well what else is there to do? I suppose you would just..â He glanced down at her sketchbook, âSketch? Right? Have you ever even tried a cigarette?â Nate looked up at the sky, blowing a thin wisp of smoke in the air. He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye as she bend down over the sketch once again, âSo what are you drawing?â He didnât particularly care but then, it was imperative to appear interested if he was every going to get anywhere.
