Being called into the sheriff’s office was kind of like being called into the principal’s office. There was only one time that had happened to Lu and it was because she and Damian had been told they were doing ‘too much’ PDA in the hallways and they had to stop. She remembered how scared she was when she got called in, but the detention that they were given had been worth it. 

Still, the stakes felt different now, and she was sure her nervousness could be clearly seen on her face. “Is something wrong? Did something happen?” Lu couldn’t help blurting out as she forced herself not to fidget. She’d stand up and grab a cup of coffee but knowing her own self, she’d probably spill it all over herself and her boss so she kept her hands to herself instead. 

Nathaniel hadn’t originally planned to trail the conversation in this direction but her nervousness peaked his attention. His eyes lingered on her for a long moment before folding one arm over the other. “Whats your opinion on the crime that occurs in Charming?”

“  good  morning,  sir.  ”  roman’s  tone  is  polite,  a  warm  expression  on  his  face  as  he  takes  a  seat.  he  places  his  paper  cup  of  coffee  on  the  table  and  stirs  in  the  bit  of  cream  and  sugar  he’d  added  prior  to  sitting  down.  he  quickly  picks  up  on  a  tone  that  isn’t  exactly  friendly  (  try  :  tired,  frustrated  ?  )  and  he  can’t  help  commenting  on  it.  “  having  a  stressful  day  already  ?  ”  perhaps  this  should  be  expected  in  charming  …  but  at  least  things  were  never  boring  !

“You could say that,” Nathaniel commented as he took a few steps backwards until he was positioned against the desk in the center of the room. He watched Roman with curious eyes unsure of where he stood in regards to the gangs and MC . “We’re letting the people of Charming down by not keeping the safe. If that doesn’t keep you up at night -- than you and I have different opinons on what we should be doing here.”

“Sheriff.” Elias greeted when he heard the man’s voice and yet he didn’t stop running on the treadmill. “Now, sheriff, you know that without a warrant and my lawyer, there’s no way I can stop my workout just yet.” He always cooperated with the police and slipped money to the right people and even if Nathaniel would to arrest him right now, he would just tell one of the workers at the gym to call his lawyer, which will set him free in a couple of hours.

“I never actually said you were under arrest.” Nathaniel added as he took a look around the gym. All eyes lingered on them. Waiting to see what was going to happen next. Nathaniel didn’t take bribes. Wasn’t silent about his hatred for the criminal activity within Charming and didn’t tolerate anyone who did. “Consider it doing the right thing for once in your life.”

She grumbled under her breath but sat up a tiny bit straighter to give him his attention. If there was someone she did respect, it was him. Especially when he shared her view on the MC and gang which operated in Charming. “And you don’t think we all share that sentiment?” well, at least most of them did, there were some Tabitha didn’t trust nor think shared the same opinion. “Cocky is an understatement, half the uniforms are terrified of approaching them, even on little infractions and another half are either in their pockets or couldn’t give a damn." 

“No,” Nathaniel commented as tired calloused hands trailed over his face. He was tired and frustrated, but she was right there were so many factors that they needed to take into account. “I’m saying that something has to give. We’re going to start within this department. Anyone that is suspected of being on the MC’s payroll is going to be benched. If you have names let met know and I’ll tell them myself.

Coming in early was her excuse to not see Noah for longer than she had too. Working in silence except when they had to interact for a case suited her fine. That didn’t mean she wasn’t still pissed at Nate for hiring her ex and making her put up with a new partner. Upon the invite she poured herself a large cup, leaving it black and no sugar. Bitter. Just like her.

She tossed one of the bag of pastries she had gotten from the diner towards him as she sat down opposite and simply glared at him. “Those are for you, not that you deserve it.” she muttered, taking a sip of the hot beverage.

As the bag traveled through the air Nate watched it before quickly reacting to wrap his fingers acrouns the top of the white bag. Fingers pealed the bag open and silently smiled before placing the bag down on the desk. His favorites. Nate turned his attention back to Tabitha before leaning on a desk. “ I know you aren’t happy but we need all the help we can get.” 

“I want movement...progress...” Nate propped himself against the edge of the desk. “I think they’re getting cocky. It’s time we knock them down a notch or two.”

Whenever Elias had some free time, he either spends it at home or goes to Renegade to himself fit, it was a good way to relief some tension he always felt in his shoulders, but at this very moment he started slow to get his blood pumping and ran the treadmill. Usually nobody dares approach him unless they needed something and people stopped and looked at him in weirder places than today as he saw in the corner of his eye someone standing to the left of the treadmill. “Are you looking for an open invitation?” Elias didn’t bother to stop the treadmill or look at who was next to him, he just kept running.

There had been a incident a town over and they had requested Nate to bring in the Devils leader for questioning. He closed the space in the gym without looking around the room. He could feel the eyes that followed him as he walked down the corridor. Stopping behind Ramirez he crossed his arms. “Your workout is done.”

Name four things that you wish you had.

The question lingered in the air a moment before a rough callous hand came up and ran over his face. The first thing that came to mind was his wife. He’d do anything to have her back. To be able to hold her in his arms just five more minutes. The second thing he would wish for would be the ability to keep his children safe no matter what his actions were. The third the proof to take down the Devils and the Wolves. The final thing would be time - time with his family, his wife, more time to say the things he never had time to say and be with the people who had run out of time.

It was early yet -- the small of freshly brewed coffee could be smelt throughout every inch of the department. Nathaniel had been there since before the midnight shift had gone home. It wasn’t just an early start that had brought him into the office, but the frustration that both organizations were still running so fluidly. 

So, he had called a departmental meeting to hash things out. Ideas. Ins. Secrets that people knew could benefit them. Somebody somehow had to know a way to cut off the head. 

“Grab yourself a cup a coffee and take a seat.”

“Oh, it’s nothing.” She waved it off, uncomfortable with the comment. She had this reputation to protect, that she was tough. “I think you’re better of with chocolate for your kids. They’re gonna appreciate that more.” 

“You’re right,” He paused a moment shifting awkwardly before stuffing his hands in his pockets. Since losing his wife he was muddling his way through rising his kids and somedays were better than others. “How are you enjoying your day?”

“Oh, no I didn’t get this from anyone ‘special’. Do you know those old ladies who go around restaurants or public places like this one, handing you roses and they try to take like ten bucks for the one rose they gave you?” She laughed, shaking her head.  “That’s how I got it. I felt bad for saying no and giving it back to her, so I bought it. I know, I’m a sucker. Don’t laugh at me. So if you want to get a rose for someone, I’m sure she’s still around here somewhere, going between the stalls. It does smell nice though, even if I’m not a flowers type of girl.” 

“Thats sweet of you,” Nathaniel commented as he looked around before turning his attention back to the young woman. “I don’t reckon I’ll be buying flowers for anyone but my kids anytime soon, though thank you for the advice.”

location: charming police dept bbq date: 14th february with: anyone (open)

“It’s four dollars individually or three for ten dollars for hotdogs, you can have either cheese, onions or jalapenos with ketchup or mustard and oh my god i’m boring myself just talking about it….” she trailed off, wondering whose ass she forgot to kiss to end up being put on bbq duty. It was Valentines day, which also meant her birthday and even though she had no intention on making that little tidbit known, she at least wanted to spend it nose deep in a bottle of jack. Not flipping burgers like a pre-teen for all of Charming’s residents.

It was his job to know everything about the people who worked underneath him. So, knowing it was Tabitha’s birthday had been a no brainer for him. The fact that he had been sent with a gift from his kids while just a homemade card was enough for him to feel a bit out of place. Nate came up behind her and held the card out without saying a word for a moment. “My minions say happy birthday.”

It wasn’t uncommon for fights to break out around here. Charming was full of hotheaded people, it was bound to happen. What Mateo wasn’t expecting was to watch two guys just trying to slap the shit out of each other. “Are you seeing this too or am I going nuts?” He asked as he looked at the two heated men, wondering if he should break it up. “That’s a new approach that I’ve never seen before. I’m thinking they’re either really drink or just really bad at fighting.”

He was off the clock. Exhausted and not really interested in getting involved in a fight with two guys who appeared inebriated enough to be be slapping one another silly. “What’s the chances they quit it before someone get seriously hurt?”

If the situation could’ve made itself any worse, it would be the fact her boss witnessed the entire thing. Internally cringing, she pulled a face as he sat down opposite her. “Be lucky you’re the one who helps sign off my paychecks otherwise i’d kick your ass to the floor….” she retorted, although there was a slight hint of humour in her tone. There was no need ofr her to get fired. At least not yet. She still had scores to settle. “Thought you normally take lunch with the kids? Something crop up that needs our attention?” she asked, making sure to keep the topic of conversation off her and what he had witnessed.

“That implies you have the skills to beat me,” his comment was accompanied with a raise of his left eye brow. Nate was well aware of his fighting skills one of the reasons he had excelled so well in SWAT and in the military. He leaned back in the boot arms out stretched against the top cushion. “My sister took them out of town to the Zoo. So I figured I’d venture out for once. What about you why so grumpy.”

Nate was born and raised in LA but his up bringing wasn’t easy. Both his parents were hard workers. His father was a previous military as was his grandfather. His mother was a waitress. He has five siblings all of whom he cares about a lot - all of whom are a pain in his ass. Nathaniel is the oldest. 

He enlisted when he was 18 and married his high school sweetheart, Samantha. They had two who he is now struggling to raise himself after she died in Charming in a shoot out shortly after they arrived in Charming. 

After the military Nathaniel became a cop and quickly made it onto SWAT. He spent decades on the team before he was recruited to Charming to be Sheriff. He hoped the move would allow him to spend more time with his family -- but he hadn’t expected there to be so much turmoil in the town. 

Nathaniel plans on doing everything in his power to dismantle both organizations even if that means working all hours of the day. 

Nathaniel is dedicated, loyal and cares about those who are in his circle. 

Dallas is 7 and Nathaniel III is 4. 

The Harrington family have a dog and his youngest sister has moved in with him since losing Rebecca.
