Reaching for a tissue, Daisy patted her nose, still pink from earlier.  She was so distracted earlier from the movie that she nearly forgot how sick she was.  Still, it was a good distraction and she was glad she was able to keep her promise in watching a movie with Freddie.  “The dinosaurs looked so cool!  They looked so real, even for a movie that was made so long ago!  I mean, not like I know what dinosaurs are supposed to look like, but these looked so real!” she said, still excited about the movie.  She giggled at the way Freddie shared the same enthusiasm, glad that she got to experience it with him.  “I feel better,” she said before sneezing lightly into her tissue.  Giving a sheepish smile, she sniffed and wiped her nose.  “Better than earlier, I mean.”

Her enthusiasm steamrolled any attempt he might have made to try and be chill since she had picked up on one of his favorite things about the movie. “Yeah! I mean, all of those effects were practical effects which makes a big difference. It’s a lot easier to show that it’s scary when it’s something that was actually built to move around instead of just computer images that people try to make to look real.” Still, it was good to hear that she was doing a little better. “I should probably get you back home so you can get some rest.” He felt a little bit reluctant about that, but he knew it was the right thing to do.

Looking over, Cesario noticed Freddie before quirking a brow. “Freddie! I didn’t even see you there. Sorry for the noise. Just an idiot client.” He cocked his head. “How have you been, cousin?”

“No worries, I’m guessing you have a lot of those,” Freddie replied with a grin. He had his share of bad phone calls but since he was part of the government, he was usually the one that was hated. “Ok. I’m starting to get some projects of my own at this internship so it could be worse.”

Anton let out a small sigh and rubbed his temple.  His annoyance was not necessarily aimed at the Dominant but rather at the long, incessant debate he had been having with this woman for far too long.  “Singapore is currently on the up and up to becoming one of the best countries for businesses.”

“Hmm,” Freddie replied, as if he had any idea what that meant. “I guess it seems like that to me? Better than a bunch of other European countries right now.”

Cressida was honestly in shock that Freddie was even real. She sniffled, her eyes tearing up again as she bit her lip. She didn’t cry again, though. Not really. “Okay,” she said softly. This night could have gone a whole lot worse, if she was honest. If anyone but Freddie had come across her, then things might have gone badly. “I really appreciate it.” Typing in her number, she passed the phone back.

Was Daisy just going to be a perpetual shade of red all day with Freddie around?  No, she needed to focus if she was going to have to get through the rest of her workday.  “That sounds lovely!  Are you all staying in Verona to celebrate?” she asked.  She could only imagine that Christmas here must be a little different from what they experienced in Ragusa.  “Very similar!  Mostly spending the holidays with family.  Sometimes there are a few fancy parties that Verona has and we’ll try and go to those.  It’s always a lot of fun!”

“Yeah. It’s weird being separated like this, but it’s not really reasonable for all of us to travel right now, especially with so many businesses still getting established. Plus it’ll give my other sisters a chance to settle in with their claims and start to make some of their own family traditions which is pretty important.” He grinned in response to her excitement. “That sounds like it! Holiday parties are always the best parties.”

“I already told you how much it would likely cost,” Cesario said into his phone before biting back a groan of irritation as the client shot back at him some drivel. “Perhaps take the evening to think about it. The stocks don’t even open until around four o’clock my time I’ll talk to you then.” Hanging up, Cesario gave a groan before getting up from the booth he had taken over when he had received a last minute phone call from a client. Pocketing his phone, he made his way to the bar before rubbing fingers over his temples. Evidently, he was getting no sleep tonight. Either that, or he’d be flying to Mumbai for damage control when he missed the deal with the market there, and he certainly didn’t want that. Looking up, he quirked a brow as someone settled near him. 

“I sure hope you’re having a better evening than I am.”

Freddie listened sympathetically to his cousin talking on the phone. He didn’t understand a single word of what was being said, but the frustrated expression on his face was more than enough to convey that things were in a rough place. “Um, I mean it’s not great but it’s not bad, so I’m guessing better than yours right now. What’s up?”

She blinked, stunned that Freddie had just offered up a room in his home. Was he serious? Cressida was sure she was gaping at her cousin, but she was just so surprised that he would offer. “Really?” She asked softly, “But… you don’t know me that well.” Could he manage her money? Was he the type to let her use it as she liked?

“Yeah. I wouldn’t suggest it if I didn’t mean it.” He could see the surprise on her face, and he supposed it was fair. But for him, she was family and she knew Audrey. That was enough. “You’re family, and you need help. it’s enough to start. And if it really doesn’t work, at least staying with me gives you a bit more time to find something better.”

Daisy was so enraptured by the movie, sucking in a sharp inhalation from the tension and letting out a breath of relief when the children made it out safe.  She didn’t even notice that Freddie was rubbing down her arm, though the soothing sensations helped calm her down.  As the movie neared its end, Daisy blinked and found herself grinning widely.  “That was amazing,” she said as she wiped her nose.  “I can’t believe I went so long in life without watching this!”  Leaning back into the seat and into Freddie’s arms, she beamed up at him.  “Thanks for watching this with me.”

Freddie grinned even more widely, feeling something almost like relief that she had liked the movie. It was easy to see that she was genuine in her reaction, which meant it hadn’t been a waste of her time. And everytime he shared something that mattered to him, it always felt like a risk. Apparently he needn’t have worried. “Right? It’s such a great movie. I love all the action scenes but the dinosaurs are just so cool. Plus I like that all the doctors actually get to be smart and right about everything so - ok I’m going to stop myself for now. But I’m really glad you liked it. How are you feeling?”

For a moment, Daisy felt entranced and breathless by the Dominant.  “But, of course, sir.  I’d love any excuse just to find you in person.”  Clearing her throat, her cheeks still warm and pink, she straightened her back.  “Do you have any plans for the holidays, sir?”

“I guess it helps that I’m so easy to find. And just so you know, I’m ok if you don’t always have to have an excuse.” He found himself slightly reluctant as she pulled away again. “Mostly I plan on spending time with my family. We’re for sure going to be spending Christmas Eve with each other, and Audrey and I usually do a bunch. Other than that, no real plans. What about you?”
