“I will not apologize for any out of place expression,” Strahd murmured, “I did say I wasn’t feeling very well.”

“Oh, I’m sure we’ll survive,” Tatyana teased as she patted his arm, “You’re never happy anyway.”

“And there’s no point in starting now.”

Sergei laughed and rested his hand on the hilt of his sword, while Tatyana failed to hide her smile. She brushed off her wedding gown and folded her hands over her lap.

Strahd stepped a little closer, at the artist’s request, and placed his own hands behind his back before shifting on his feet. He definitely seemed less than comfortable, but even as they all settled into their poses, a small smile pulled the corner of his mouth.

It was faint and timid, but it was there, and the sight made Sergei grin.

After building his castle on the cliffs of the northern mountains, any progress on Strahd’s end seemed to pause. The newly crowned king rarely left his newfound home; only coming out to convene with the villages’ councils or discuss terms with Argynvost. His soldiers also kept to themselves, and any attack from the Order was met with a small line of aimless undead that never really bothered to push them back.

Their fort in the mountains was left unchecked; The villagers practically forgot that the armies were there; And there were even talks of a royal wedding, and soon.

Nevertheless, Vladimir refused give up, even after the Silver Dragon himself began to question Strahd’s motives.

After all, why sanction a marriage between the Head Councilwoman and your brother if you finally intended to strike after years of silence? Why all of the planning and excitement? Why request a meeting with them for the day after?

This false sense of security would only lead to a lapse in judgment—One that would cost them everything...

I'm SO excited to finally share these pieces I created for D&D's Ravenloft: The Horrors Within.

This project was such a huge honor to work on. I remember as a kid looking through the players manuals & doing little studies of the artwork in there, so this feels a bit full-circle. You can get a peek at higher-res versions of them on my insta!
