Maekar's worst trait is that he loves his children too much. It's in "This man attacked my son" and "He's my last son" and taking the side of his most disappointing children even when he knows that they can't possibly be in the right. Daeron has the right of it when he points out that Egg could become a monster like Aerion if trapped in Summerhall, but Maekar refuses to see that because he hasn't realized that love isn't always enough. It didn't save Daeron, it didn't save Aerion, it won't save Egg.

Maekar is a tragedy because he does not want to lose his children, but in holding them too tightly he already has.

Honestly this whole Valko issue isn't even about him anymore, I'm glad global players are finally doing something with regards to how much infold's bootlicking their cn players
