Guess who just got the new Nico Marlet book?

These were all the pages in the book that featured Nico’s original “Cats” concept art, BUT this time with their original colors, so we would’ve seen what they would’ve looked like if the film was finished.

I’ll admit these scans were a bit difficult to do since my scanner is a bit smaller, but can fit these pages in well when you push it towards the screen. By the way, I highly recommend checking out the book “Boisterous Beasts & Deadly Dragons - The Art of Nico Marlet”, a lot of great stuff on there.

Took me 10 seconds to recognize the tune! I actually watched the proshot version of this on YouTube last year and loved it. There’s a lot to talk about with the musical’s handling of the disabled protagonist (especially since I’m autistic), and I think it’s has one of the best MT scores of this century so far.

Also, those poll results disappoint me, good lord.

Picture this: A non-replica production of “Cats”, but it’s… ‘Hep Cats’ (or swing/jazz cats if you want an easier term).

A few ideas I could think of is “Macavity” is re-arranged as a slower Cab Calloway number (think “Minnie the Moocher” or “St. James Infirmary Blues” for example), and Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer are the cat equivalent of The Nicholas Brothers.

Space Jam time now. i haven't started and i'm already wanting to rewatch Who Framed Roger Rabbit again. i know i've revisited it at least once since then, but this might be my first time rewatching the full thing ever since i first saw it in November 2019. fun fact: according to Dave Spafford they printed out the shot of Daffy kissing his ass and made it into T-shirts. okay see you on the flip side

i correctly anticipated that i'd have a lot of thoughts on this, so i took off-the-cuff notes while watching. here are the results:

oooooohhhhhhhh boy. a bit scared for the fate of this LT movie rewatch. i've held the opinion for a long while that while i think Back in Action is the better movie, i liked Space Jam more because i felt it didn't take itself too seriously, the wider cast made it easier to disperse my attention (despite my vehement protest against the ensemblification of these characters), and it just felt more "cartoony" and fun

and now i'm scared because i did not enjoy this at all upon rewatch. i felt my brain leaking out of my ears the whole time. there's something about i still do respect? but i couldn't tell you what that is. i might have to wait until i watch the other movies to see what that is. i can't get myself to really hate it, but i was so distracted by how surface level everything felt and out of character and distracting and nauseating and cheap humor wise it is. i reiterate: if your movie hinges on BUGS BUNNY ASKING FOR HELP then you're dead on arrival.

uhhhh. at least Daffy was cute in this drawing wise. i liked the attempt to straddle his different personalities. sadly he still came off as insufferable to me just like everyone else in this movie. i would not be surprised if this film is a source for a lot of modern LT cliches and trappings i'm vehemently against (PORKY IS SUCH A WUSS IN THIS IT'S MADDENING)

i thought i was gonna have a profound essay but i got nothin'. maybe i will once i watch the others. this was my second favorite Actual LT Movie after TDTEBU (moreso in terms of "hate less") so i'mmmmmm scared for how the rest of this will pan out
