10 Things I Hate About You (1999) dir. Gil Junger
Just in case you wanted to know what women look like shotgunning beers.
This teen girl on this j train just yelled really loud “does anyone care if we smoke weed” and waited a sec and her friend was like “raise your hand if you care “ and nobody did so now they are smoking . I love them

"i just asked what is in that drink!" called out lunara, trying her best to keep a straight face. all the while watching as the guy rushed out the door. it sadly was starting to become a regular occurrence for the bar. so many patrons were coming in asking for drinks that she had never even heard of. tonight? it was a hemingway daiquiri which she had never been asked to make before. she had been willing to google it but apparently the question had offended them. all she could do was sigh as she let her hands drop to the bar. it took her a few moments to realize that she was being stared at," listen, everyone here orders whatever's on tap, nothing like whatever drink they were asking for."
elbow resting on the bar, edison gulped back another mouthful of beer, her lips twitching with bemusement from the situation that unfolded. she’d noticed an uptick in people acting like they were too good for foamy beer and bottom-shelf gin. they wanted some fancy drink that’d gone viral in a tiktok instead. “hey, i’m not judging. good riddance,” she admitted earnestly to the other. “like, what the fuck was that guy even talking about? no one orders a daiquiri in this bar. besides, hemingway is overrated, anyway. we read the sun also rises in senior year english. i’d rather wipe my ass with it.” eddie hadn’t read it, of course. just like she hadn’t done much of anything her senior year. "you should be allowed one punch per shift of an entitled customer like that."
was he friendly? a question for the masses as matt could never really pin-point things he was or was not. but for sake of conversation, he replied with a boyish grin. "it's been a good night," a lackluster shrug then, his own shined boots lit up in the dim light of the bar, a relic from times past when he all the money in the world and could buy expensive little things like that. but for tonight, he was content to buy the stranger a drink and ride the high of his band's performance. "a jack and coke for me."
he was from the band, she knew. “y’know i was pretty pissed when there was a cover to get in here,” she remarked off-hand, hair sticking to the back of her neck from the bar’s dense heat. hands engulfed by an oversized jacket’s sleeves, she pulled it off to reveal a thrifted tattered tee, the words martha mae’s equestrian team written across the chest. she’d never ridden, despite what one would assume. she continued, “but you guys weren’t half bad. hope it at least went to you.” this was eddie’s version of a compliment after being wronged with something like a five-dollar fee. “i especially liked the second to last song. but, i mean, i’ve had, like, four beers so maybe don’t take my word for much.”

roman had needed a change of scenery since his studio had become stifling. he hadn't been sure where to go until he had literally walked right past common grounds. he was in need of coffee, lots of it. he had made himself comfortable on one of the overstuffed couches. he was on his second red eye and was finally hard at work. he hadn't realized someone was staring over his shoulder until he happened to glance up," it's rude to stare," he said with a laugh," besides, it's not even close to finished." the sketch was not even to the halfway point and it was something he was sketching from memory," but surely you came for coffee and not to watch me?"
edison was posted up at common grounds, taking advantage of the free wifi that came along with her purchase of a black coffee. and, hell, a cookie too. because why not? it wasn’t as overpriced as starbucks, and edison figured it was a better deal than actually paying her late wifi bill this month. she was momentarily distracted by another sketching, not even attempting to fake bashfulness when she was called out. “never been one for good manners,” she admitted and grinned at the other with chocolate cookie stuck between her teeth. she shook her cup with its last dredges of cold coffee at the bottom, shrugged. “well, i’m out of coffee. although i’d kindly fuck off in exchange for a medium black.” she was only half-joking. “you’re pretty fuckin’ talented.” it didn’t come out like a compliment, but more of an objective statement; a throwaway comment. the same way one would say, ‘today is tuesday.’
sweat drenched his forehead as he made his way down the stage towards the bar. the eyeliner that lined his eyes was smudged, in his hands there was a single half-empty water bottle, and his jewelry glittered in the light; a couple of earrings in his left ear, a silver necklace lining his neck. his breathing came in sharp pants from the show he'd just put on with his friends and there was a smile on his lips. he was in a rare, good mood and it showed even as he hastened up to the bar and ordered a round for him and his friends. his dark eyes, intent and inquisitive, searched the bar and locked onto the person nearest to him. matt gestured to them with a smile, a wave followed, before he voiced his want to buy them a drink. "and a drink for them," he nodded down to them from his place at the bar and brushed strands of hair off his forehead. @ashford-extra
at the bar, the old floor groaned beneath the weight of the crowd. while most patrons were close to the stage, listening to the band play, edison was further back, among local drunks hunched over their dollar-well drinks. she was already a tad annoyed, after the bouncer at the door had insisted on the five bucks cover. she’d spent the rest of the evening leaning against the bar, nodding to the music, the heel of her cowboy boot tucked in behind the bar rail. she hadn’t been bothered since arriving, so she was a bit caught off guard when the other approached with a smile and wave, offering to buy her a drink. in typical eddie fashion, she was never one to decline something free. “vodka soda,” she told the bartender, pointing to a bottle of grey goose on the shelf — an upgrade from the cheap beer she’d been nursing. “since he’s treating.” she flashed a quick grin and then, tongue poking at the inside of her cheek, she turned to address the other. “what’s the occasion? or are you always this friendly?”
