“It’s fine,” Carina shook her head, though she reached to take a couple of Elizabeth’s fries. Reaching for the ketchup she passed it along, still worrying a bit about making a good impression. “I tend to fill up well enough on the hamburger.”

Carina smiled, trying to imagine the grandfather she’d never have the chance to know. In her mind he was a more blustery version of her father, but she expected that had to do with her having only met Barbossa. Surely she’d imagine most fathers like him. “I sometimes think about writing yours, but I imagine the stories of the stars are already written.”
