Summary: There’s only one thing you could say about Yennefer of Vengerberg, she was a very talented arsehole. (Fem Reader) Words: 1354 Warnings: None
Yennefer of Vengerberg was the biggest arsehole you had ever met. However she was quite a talented one at that. Which made it hard for you to be mad at her for long whenever she did or said dickish things to you but then would do something unbelievably amazing a few seconds later. She could go from being a seemingly stone cold mage and then suddenly she’s taking out a few rude soldiers with fireballs. She was quite the spectacle.
And you were absolutely wooed by her.
You were a mage, traveling with Geralt, Jaskier, and Ciri, accompanying them on their journey. You were the profound healer of the group, really Geralt as him ever coming out unscathed from any battle was nearly impossible these days. You were a very good mage and you also knew how to fight, so you went with the Witcher into battle a lot. The two of you had created an excellent team.
Then came, Yennefer.
You had only her name mentioned before by Jaskier and Ciri, a couple of times. Jaskier’s words had made you believed she was a cruel and sadistic mage who didn’t give a fuck about anything. Of course, a part of that is true but not as extreme as you were thinking. She was beautiful and cunning; everything about her was very alluring. Except their was the blaring fact she could be a bit of a bitch sometimes, especially towards you.
Simply, put it, Yennefer attacked your presence whenever you were around.
Which made no sense to you.
You had been kind to her, when you met. Giving her an informal greeting but nonetheless showing her respect. She only laughed and scoffed in your face before walking off to speak with Geralt. This was the first of many things she would do to you whenever you spoke. The insults followed soon after, calling you an ‘inferior mage’ to what she was. Many more comments were thrown but you wouldn’t let them show to her. You knew that was what she was looking for, the satisfaction of knowing she had complete control over you.
It bothered you immensely and sometimes you wanted to pull your hair out about at the ridiculously rude things she did to you. Ignoring and avoiding her, however was your best option.
Or at least you thought.
You were doing well actually, avoiding Yennefer whenever for the most part unless you actually had to speak to her about something important for the mission. Other than that, you tried not to ever cross her path, whenever you were alone. You kept yourself busy helping either the rest of the group or going off to collect materials you needed by yourself.
Surprisingly tonight, the group had actually made it to a town and were able to grab some rooms in an inn. All of you had scarfed you plates down in silence as tiredness had plagued all of you. Y’all had travel for weeks now, sleeping outside and, well, there wasn’t that much sleep to be had. One night there was surprised bandits, another night a pack of wolves, another several Drowners; to sum up it was usually all a disaster whenever the group had to rest in the wilderness.
As soon as you reached the door to your room, you threw yourself on the bed, lying face first into an unexpectedly soft pillow. You let out a soft groan, closing your eyes and enjoying the softness beneath you. You sighed, sitting up and kicking off you boots and then unbuttoning your cloak, and sword from its place on your hip. You definitely need a bath first, and as tired as you were, you were sure to make it as quick as possible.
There was a sudden soft knock on your door, making you grunt. ‘Who could it possibly be at this time,’ you wondered dragging yourself to the door, and opening it.
Yennefer.
She stood, the tired also shining through her eyes, a small smile formed on her lips upon seeing you.
“May I come in?” she asked, her voice unusually soft.
“Uh… yes.” you stepped as side and watched the mage walk in. You were still trying to figure out why exactly she would be here, but frankly, you had no clue as to why she would be here. You shut the door turning back to see she was looking at the bed.
“The bed’s are quite soft here, wouldn’t you say?” she turned back to you, smiling wider at you.
“Yes, they are. Thought I’d forget this feeling with how long we’d been sleeping in the forest.” you chuckled softly, stretching put your arms.
“Sleeping in the forest these past few weeks were rough but I doubt any of us could forget the feeling of a soft bed.” she looked down at her feet, as silence plagued the room after her words. The awkwardness settled in between you too, as each of you stole glances at each other.
“Uh.. Yennefer.” you spoke, breaking the silence.
“Yes?”
“Why are you here?” you watched and she shifted a little before looking up to meet your gaze.
“I-uh… you’ve been avoiding me and I can guess it’s because I’ve been a royal arsehole to you but I don’t like it anymore, but I guess what I am trying to say is that I’m sorry and didn’t need to be rude or annoying to you, I just wasn’t sure quite exactly what I felt but now I realize what I feel and I don’t want you to be mad at me, even though you have all the right to be! I just wanted to-” she spoke quickly, your brain only catching certain words, but not quite what she was saying.
“Wait, wait, Yen slow down.” you walked up to her, placing your hands on her shoulder. She stopped talking, looking at you all wide eyed.
“What are you trying to tell me and before you speak, please go slow this time.” she took in a deep breath before speaking again.
“I know you have been avoiding me, and I know it’s most likely because I’ve been a complete royal arsehole to you. You have every right to be mad at me but I don’t like when you avoid me and I just wanted to say that I am sorry. I didn’t mean to treat you poorly but now I-I uh realized that I care about you deeply…” she mumbled the last part, a faint blush appearing across her cheeks. You mind ran miles, as you processed what she had just said. Yennefer… cares about you? Well that was something you never would have believed, and yet you had. The look on her face had told you, that by avoiding her it had hurt her deeply, and apologizing to you was killing her on the inside. You chuckled at her for a second, leaning in and pressing your forehead to hers.
“Yes you were a complete royal arshole, but I have always thought you were a very talented on.” you smiled pulling away to gauge her reaction. Yennefer leaned forward connecting your lips together into a sweet and savory kiss. Her hand came around and cupped your face, while you wrapped your arms around her middle. The two of you kissed until air seemed rare, and then pulled away.
“Well aren’t you a talented arsehole. That was probably the best kiss I have ever had,” you spoke breathlessly, staring deep into the violet eyes standing in front of you. She laughed, resting her head back to your, biting her lips.
“Why don’t we share a room for tonight? Take a much needed bath first and then have that great soft big bed to ourselves.” she whispered that last part into your ear; her words running down your spine. You pressed your lips to her exposed neck, kissing up to her chin before pulling back and looking at her.
“I’d quite love that.” and she smiled before pulling you into another savory kissed. Something about it told you how much rest you’d be actually getting tonight.
I hope ya’ll enjoyed this!
