He had failed again. He had failed and he wasn't sure how much more of this he could take. The constant, heavy moods were getting rougher and rougher and there was only so much emptiness booze could fill. Still, turning from the table where his latest failed experiment lay, the medic reached for his flask and fell into his crooked, broken chair with a sharp breath forced from his barely functioning lungs. The stress and sadness weren't just taking a toll on the man mentally.
His physical form grew weak far too easily. The simple act of existing was tiring.
His body was falling a p a r t.
The drink was downed and the flask dropped to the floor as Ned, elbows resting on his knees, set his head in his hands. There he remained, silent and unmoving, for hours as wave after wave of thoughts pummeled his weary mind. He ached but couldn't find the strength to shift. He was beaten down and burnt out and he honestly didn't know if he would find a way to build himself back up again. And then, perched in his seat, head still in his hands, he heard it.
A low, shallow wheeze of a breath. One that hadn't come from him.
Slowly he straightened up, gaze pulled towards the previously very dead body on the table. Despite Ned's original belief the experiment would stay that way, it had crossed the threshold between life and death a second time and, with glassy eyes, stared back at him. The medic ignored his own body's outcries - sounded in his creaky joints and blurred vision - upon his quick return to the creature's side. Before he even knew what he was doing, Ned found himself holding the being before him in a close embrace. A soft groan spilled from the zombie's lips and, though the medic knew he had much to do to keep the freshly undead creature happy and healthy, all he could do was stand there, hug his child, and sob.

[i really miss my zombies ;w; ]
[sitting here and not having to write a journal tonight is seriously messing with me I'm not sure if I'm excited or sad or what jfc]
Day 365
Greetings, loyal Nedscast viewership...
This is why I - why we - can trust your kind no longer. He trusted and he was betrayed. I let my guard down and, again, I find myself alone. For the second time since the start of this research, we have lost everything. My work is gone. My zombies are gone.
My children are gone.
The one who caused this will not be a problem again, but today I put my foot down and take back what is mine. This island will once again become a safe haven for the dead - as it should have been since the beginning. No matter who you are, if blood runs through your veins and you find yourself on my island, Jakobs Cove will soon be your safe haven.
The living are not to be trusted and the living will die.
Cordially,
Doctor Ned
Day 364
Greetings, loyal Nedscast viewership! Sorry TK's had to pick up these broadcasts for the past few days. He's pretty cool for a zombie, though, so hopefully he kept you all in the loop about Ned being missing and all. This is Maxine, by the way.
We found Ned sometime yesterday morning. Well...I found him. That being said, if anyone needs an undead friend, you know where to come. They're out of a caretaker and, seeing as how my job on Pandora is done, I'm headed back to Aquator after settling a few last minute things on the island.
For being as feared as he was, I really expected more out of the guy. Though I guess he was a medic and not a warrior...
Cordially,
Maxine
Day 363
Greetings, loyal Nedscast viewership! Still TK, everyone! I was startin' to get worried yesterday, but I'm actually pretty concerned now. I ain't heard a thing from either Ned or Maxine today, but I did hear some gunfire this mornin'. There's not somethin' out there gettin' folks who walk 'round alone, is there? I'm gonna do the best I can to keep the zombies safe, but bein' blind is puttin' me at a real disadvantage if I've gotta brandish a weapon against some horrible intruder.
Cordially,
TK Baha
Day 362
Greetings, loyal Nedscast viewership! TK again bringin' all y'all the latest from Jakobs Cove! Still no sign of Ned and the rest of the horde's gettin' kinda anxious. To be real honest - and I know he's capable of takin' on just about anythin' - I'm startin' to get worried too. This ain't like him. I'm sure he's got good reason to not tell anyone where he's gone, though! Least I hope so...
Cordially,
Still not Dr. Ned
Day 361
Greetings, loyal Nedscast viewership! Is, uh...That's what he says, ain't it? TK speakin', guys. We've got a problem. We can't find Ned. Maxine's out lookin' for him right now since lookin' for stuff ain't my forte anymore. I'm keepin' the zombies company.
He's gotta be 'round the island somewhere, right?
Cordially,
Not Dr. Ned
Day 360
Greetings, loyal Neds...Nedscast viewership!
...
Dr. Ned here! I don't...Know what's happening.
Help me.
Cordially,
Dr. Ned Blanco
Day 359
Greetings, loyal Nedscast viewership! I don't feel as bad as I did the other day, but I can't remember anythin' I did 'fore right now. I think I need to get back to the treehouse 'fore somethin' real bad happens and nobody comes lookin' for me. I'm headin' back to the house once I lock up here.
Cordially,
Dr. Ned
Day 358
Greetings, loyal Nedscast viewership! I cleaned up 'round the hospital this mornin'. I can't quite remember what I did after that - there's a three or so hour gap in what I can recall - but there ain't any new bloodstains nearby, so anythin' I did couldn't have been all too bad. No word on what the zombies did today, but no news is good news, right?
Cordially,
Dr. Ned
Day 357
Greetings, loyal Nedscast viewership! No questions were asked when I told Max and TK to watch after the zombies 'til further notice. If all goes well, I'll be back to the treehouse tomorrow - maybe even later tonight. I just need to...take care of a few things first.
Cordially,
Dr. Ned
Day 356
Greetings, loyal Nedscast viewership! I'm spending the next few days around Generally Hospital and lockin' the gate behind myself. Course that won't do much if somethin' bad actually happens, but it'll keep zombies and curious assistants away for a while. Hopefully that's good enough to avoid addin' to the island's death count.
Cordially,
Dr. Ned
Day 355
Greetings, loyal Nedscast viewership! I think I've figured out what's goin' on, but I really hope I'm wrong. With Maxine back, this could get bad real fast.
Cordially,
Dr. Ned
