the thing is: of course the species which both a) goes into territorial mating rage once a decade b) is highly attuned to emotions and thoughts of its peers had to invent a philosophy of logic and self-control. like I imagine pre-surak vulcan clans have been highly bonded to the point where a conflict with one member of the clan would ENSURE that all other members of the clan went into a homicidal rage. because imagine that your rage is not only immediately shared by your peers but also AMPLIFIED because you FEEL it from everyone around you.... like yeah Of Course this society could only survive by inventing Hyper Stoicism
on that point: vulcans' needs during pon farr being less about specifically fucking and more about BONDING. like yes obviously sex is part of it but the reason just jacking off doesn't work is because they need to BOND. they need assurance that their clanmate is Safe and Here and Close. so, I present to you:
- vulcans that get really anxious about food and water before and during pon farr
- vulcans that get frankly weirdly obsessed with smell and scenting
- vulcans during pon farr being jumpy and frankly anxious. when your vulcan partner comes up to you like 'would you consider it logical to consider the possibility of you abandoning our bond if I was to, for some reason, become a worm-like creature. although the possibility of such a thing occurring is vanishingly small, I am nevertheless considering how detrimental to my control and wellbeing it would be. so, would you please share with me your reasoning and supposed response to this hypothetical event' you know damn well they are like 2 days away
- vulcans during pon farr being super into physical contact. when you are not fucking your vulcan partner you Need to cuddle them. or else
