Hey do you wanna hang out later and distract each other from how horrifying everything is

Taking a short break before I tackle the last two December fics, hopefully I can finish them both tonight!
Anyway, onto this brain work that's been bothering me for a while.
I really want to see adult magical girls.
No, I don't mean "Adult +18" magical girls. I mean, magical girls that grew up, semi retired, and are totally done with this "magic of the week" nonsense. Adults that have really grown to embody those ideals they dreamed about as young girls/boys and are now letting younger kids handle the bulk of the problems as a coming of age thing.
I want to see magical girl mentors implied to be without magic but brimming with knowledge. Only for them to take off the kiddy gloves when the big bag steps up a little too hard for the protag kid and reveals they've only gotten stronger with age. Not weaker.
Lead ups for an entire season about how badass they were as kids with hazy flashbacks of their cute outfits and attacks. And then when they transform again their whole look has grown with them. Not cute princess teacup dresses, but fits worthy of queens. Not princely suits but finery of kings.
Bonus points if the weapon went from "able to be replicated with cheap plastic with round, friendly edges" to "legit a whole ass cleavers or buster swords". Kid friendly shapes traded for real, lethal weapons that still look like theirs.
The reincarnation thing is fun and all, but I'd really like the implication of a cycle of warriors and wielders of magic. Not grimdark but almost mundane in it's approach. The same way we assume as kids that our teachers in brown khakis and sweaters just lives in the school and does nothing, these adults go about their normal lives. And everyone is floored when they realize that there's like, 99% of these threats we never see cause of the actual adults handling the problem off screen.
Idk... It just seems like it'd be fun.
