sociopathic / psychopathic characters are best referred to as anti-social personalities ( DMS-IV ).

if your character is psychotic, they do not know the difference between what is sane and what is not. the lines between a coherent and an incoherent reality are skewed. ( ex: a man kills a woman but doesn’t think he has done anything wrong. ) if your character kills knowing full well that what they do is wrong and feels no remorse, then they are an antisocial personality.

serial killers do not equal mass murderers. serial killers tend to stalk, hunt, and prey upon their victims over a period of time. mass murderers massacre a large number of victims either all at once or a very short period of time.

multiple personality disorder has been renamed to dissociative identity disorder, or d.i.d. for short ( DSM-IV ).

          Breath hitched in his throat, grey hues widened significantly, obviously surprised at the sudden action brought upon him, more specifically his thin body. The toy that was in his grasp had been released, causing it to fall on the floor in a loud clatter. Affection was within the young detective’s vocabulary, among a throng of college level vocabulary, yet he did not practice it. Any actions he had made throughout his lifetime that may seem like affection would be the attention he gave to the various toys he played with. Acts of affection brought to him would be responded with slight uneasiness and possible sweat rolling down his brow. Shifting his eyes to the side, catching a glimpse of the male, he slightly squirmed in his hold. His composure quickly regenerated as he question Izaya. “May I ask what you are doing?”
