you will never catch me complaining about an actress on a tv show having an imperfectly concealed pregnancy or a character going on a sudden trip somewhere while her actress is on maternity leave. so many actresses (and women working in any other field) are fired, punished and pressured into making reproductive decisions for their employers' convenience & if i have to try a bit harder to suspend my disbelief then that's absolutely what i'm going to do if it means people are getting to exercise reproductive & bodily autonomy without punishment

Thinking abt how inherently but subtly cruel it was for Wakaba to disappear again in the third sem and for Sojiro, completely unknowingly, to say “oh, that’s odd, I was thinking about her recently too” when Futaba comes home. It’s one thing to have the dead returned to you with no awareness of what you lost, but to lose them again and have no idea that you had them? Only the lingering feeling that something was different, to be dipped back into the grief and to not remember what she was like for the week that you had her? It was cruel enough for Futaba, who got a week knowing what her life could have been like, but it was just as cruel for Sojiro to get a glimpse of it and not get to remember.

Shoko used to squeeze Nanami's cheek affectionately as teens cause he was so grouchy and cute all the time & he always acted annoyed but honestly he didn't mind that much. As adults she still pinches it but since he's gotten so tall he has to lean his head down a little for her

i really hate the theory that wakaba experimented on akechi. firstly, it shits on futaba's arc (because it's HUGELY important thay wakaba was A Good Person for it to work), in order to whitewash akechi's actions (which kinda shits on his arc as well by turning him into a perfect victim who actually didn't do anything wrong). secondly, it contradicts the game's actual text, where akechi himself flat-out confirms that wakaba was killed because she tried to blow the whistle on shido. thirdly, it contradicts the game's subtext, because reading between the lines (especially in the jp version) you can tell akechi actually feels kinda bad about killing her (which i also think is important for his character).

like don't get me wrong, i would not be surprised if it WAS an idea atlus considered at one stage, but they abandoned it for a good reason imo. it's boring and bad and it makes futaba, akechi, and sojiro's characters all worse.

it's wild that popular discourse around migraines is that there are too many people who claim to have migraines but "just have bad headaches". this is the exact opposite of my experience? i'm still trying to convince several of my friends that their "bad tension headaches" that are unilateral, throbbing, cause light sensitivity, nausea, etc, are migraines lmao. migraine is underdiagnosed and undertreated by every metric i can think of.

this narrative is not harmless! it prevents people from getting treatment that could really benefit them. so i would like it to die. thank you.

As a guy who went to see a neurologist only to "rule out migraines" because I thought I had "tension headaches at worst and also it's not that bad really" only to realize by tracking my headache days that I have very bad chronic migraines just with no aura (most people with migraines don't have them), I co-sign this 100%.

Just starting abortive medications already improved my quality of life so much and now that my doctor started me on preventatives, I might actually be able to have more than a handful of headache-free days each month.

Migraine is frequently misdiagnosed as chronic sinusitis or tension headaches according to research. Mostly because people have a very rigid (inaccurate) idea of what it actually is.

But even if it's not migraine, you still deserve treatment for your headaches. Just because someone else has them worse than you doesn't mean you don't deserve relief.

yeah i found out awhile back that the 'pressure headaches' that i get that 'aren't that bad' (but still leave me feeling sick and dysfunctional all day) were migraines. i now take a low dose of a preventative medication and the number of shitty rain days i have per month has dropped from like ten to two. it's great.

I'm really curious about this!! in aotearoa, every classroom I was in growing up had posters up on how to respond to an earthquake. "drop, cover, hold" was drilled into me from a very young age. I experienced a few growing up, but they were mild because I don't live in areas where they are more extreme. One of our major cities, christchurch/ōtautahi, gets hit by earthquakes very frequently. if you look at a global seismic hazard map, aotearoa is fully lit up in the colour indicating high hazard chance. wild!!!

for reference, in the UK (similar size country) there are around 20-30 noticeable earthquakes per year. in aotearoa, that number is around 100-250!
