this moment must have really stung for heather. because she just watched matt murdock — a man she dated seriously, a man who saw her suffer unspeakable horror — give up his identity to save karen page.
this man has been daredevil for a decade, and never until now has he forsaken the anonymity of the mask. not for heather, not for his own name had he ever even thought of considering it. but for karen page, he didn’t even think twice. matt never even told heather he was daredevil, let alone showed the conviction and love it would take for him to take this big of a risk for her.
he was never fully honest about himself - not his injuries, not his emotional disconnect, not even the attack on heather’s life that she narrowly escaped. he cared enough to help save her from muse, sure, but he never really trusted her.
karen, however.
hers was the name he called while he was recovering from gunshot wounds after saving fisk. she clearly already knows he is daredevil, but even she didn’t expect him to go this far in pursuit of keeping her safe, which only rubs further salt in the wound. matt couldn’t even give heather the other side of him, but he will let the world tear him apart out of his love for karen page.
