Thursday, I picked up the Castlevania Anniversary Collection for the Nintendo Switch.  I’ve always been a big fan of those games for their use of the classic monsters, gothic horror vibe and overall aesthetic. All the big hitters from the 8 and 16-Bit Era were there with all of the NES games, a couple Game Boy entries, one from the SNES and the Genesis each.  There was also a weird title called Kid Dracula, which is a cute, cartoony spinoff game never released in the US (officially).  

It’s fun enough but why, you may ask, am I even talking about this on a tokusatsu blog?  Take a look at this screenshot from the game.

It sure look like it.  Is that Gamera?

Flying turtle?  Check

Back legs tucked in with jets of flame powering his flight? Check.

Elongated lower fangs at the back on the jaw? Check.
