It’s such a precious, intimate experience, stumbling upon individuals that are actually capable of challenging our capacity to grow; and not as an egocentric defense mechanism, but as a vulnerable, self-aware, empathy-based compulsion because they understand what we are capable of, and will not allow us the excuses to squander our potential.

The need to go astray, to be destroyed, is an extremely private, distant, passionate, turbulent truth.

Who poisoned Flint, Michigan?
In Flint, Michigan, the feds and the state are investigating what one water expert calls one of the greatest American drinking-water disasters he’s ever seen. Read our report on the massive government failure behind the water crisis that’s exposed countless children to dangerous levels of lead.
late-term abortions are so gross. especially partial birth abortions. why the fuck would anyone do this for non-medical reasons? really, why?
Fun fact: they don’t.
Another fun fact: literally almost every medical procedure you can think of looks gross. Look up a video of wisdom teeth removal if you really want goosebumps.
“Partial Birth Abortions” actually called Intact Dilation and Extraction are illegal in the United States per the Partial Birth Abortion Ban. Before they were banned, they were generally used so that grieving parents could have a chance to hold their wanted child and mourn when a complication in pregnancy or with the fetus warranted a late term abortion. How disgusting that parents would want to mourn their wanted babies, right?
Less than 2% of abortions are performed at or after 21 weeks. 43 states have bans on late-term abortion (late-term abortion is defined by each state, but is usually 20 weeks, 24 weeks, or whenever they determine ‘viability’ to be) usually only with exceptions for the health of the pregnant person.
Why are you under the impression that so many people willingly, purposely wait until so late in their pregnancy that abortions become extremely hard, if even possible to access, much more expensive, and much more stigmatized for no reason?
concept: me, 10 years from now, living in a pretty house with my love, sipping a hot cappuccino on a rainy autumn afternoon. our dog curls up next to me in the window bench while our cat snoozes on the bed. i’m financially stable and i’m never tired anymore. the bees are safe.
All men benefit from women’s reinforced fear of being hurt for saying no.
read it again and again
Understand that this applies even to non-sexual situations. Women are more likely to be asked for favors from coworkers. Regular “can you file this for me” / “can you cover my shift” / “can you finish up this paperwork” workplace favors. Men are less likely to return those favors. Women are more likely to be seen as “difficult to work with” if they refuse to do favors when requested. Being viewed as ungenerous has negative social and professional consequences.
So yes, even gay men benefit. All men benefit from women’s reinforced fear of being hurt, not just physically, but also socially and professionally, for saying no to anything at all.

This is important.
Thinking a lot lately about how this stuff plays out in two circles where I spend a lot of time–the comics community, and the development / implementation of CoCs and harassment policies; and how it intersects with both of those for freelancers in particular.
