˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ Hello, as many as you know me, I’m Nerdy-Chocomallow but I go by cocoa most of the time. I haven’t been posting a lot of my own content lately since one I’m kinda waiting for season 6 of miraculous to be done and two, I haven’t been feeling great about myself. But I did want to make this post for the longest time now, I think it’s the perfect time to do it. ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚

Grendiaper Thoughts (again)

i’ve been seeing a ton of discussion surrounding the change in character for Zoé

basically the consensus seems to be that her being angry and violent was kind of dumped out of nowhere; initially I did agree with this

however, the more I think about it, the more her “switch up” makes sense to me

in Sole Crusher, we saw how easy it was for her to switch her demeanor depending on who she was around.

personally, I’ve always been a truther on that she’s overcompensating; she’s trying so hard to be a kind person, that for a while, it was her main personality.

I do think that she’s an angry and (potentially) violent person at heart; when she was in NYC, she found it easier to adapt that by being a bully. however, she still is a kind person, and didn’t enjoy hurting people, so she abandoned the bullying

but now, since there are MANY things (mainly The Chopped Trio) that are irritating her, it makes sense that her mask is slipping; lowkey, i do think that Fury is the closest to the “true” Zoé that we’ve seen, but Zoé doesn’t want to be that way

at the end of Grendiaper, when Ladybug calls her out indirectly, she does become guilty. she knows that she messed up, and that she’s falling back into (potential) old habits

TLDR; Zoé is a violent person at heart, but doesn’t want to be; she’s trying too hard to be a good person

does the mlb fandom (very generally) not understand that characters can be complex + storylines don’t have to be resolved in one episode

like i’ve seen so much discussion on Marinette keeping the secret and having zero consequence; GUYS VERY FEW PEOPLE KNOW. they’ll eventually find out about it, and there most likely will be consequences

a ton of people are mad at Alya’s reaction, which was 100% justified. you may not like her getting mad, but she was valid in doing so. Marinette lied to the world, and to Adrien; he of all people should have been told the truth. ofc, they intentionally wrote it so Marinette had something at stake. both girls aren’t right or wrong; it’s a matter of perception of their arguments

i’ve seen discussion on Marc and Nath revealing their identities, and not having their miraculous taken. again, they’re the only ones who know that they shared their identities. if/when Ladybug finds out, she may take their miraculous

for Grendiaper, i’ve seen a handful of people mad that Fury wasn’t a one-and-done character. like Fury will be important; having one episode talk about it, just to never mention it again is genuinely boring and bad writing.

also, i’ve seen discussion about Zoé keeping her miraculous. until someone finds out about her being Fury, there won’t be any immediate consequence

people don’t like that Nathalie is essentially forcing Marinette to keep the secret. just for the record, Marinette was the one to tell Nathalie that sharing the truth would be bad. Nathalie has a point; it’s too late to share the truth now. Chrysalis is more of a threat than ever, and Adrien has just started therapy to discuss his father; if the truth came out now, there would be negative consequences

that being said, keeping it longer will only make it worse. there has never been a good time to mention it without risk (by the time that Ladybug makes it to London, she knows the butterfly miraculous is gone)

people also really hate the S5 finale (lowkey i don’t get this one😭) if this stems from people thinking the sacrifice was a cop-out, i disagree. Gabriel has always been a coward. he rarely left his lair, and relied on other people doing the brunt of the work (akumatized villains, Mayura, Lila). him choosing to sacrifice himself is so in character tbh. in my head, Gabriel knew that if he kept himself alive, he would go to prison. so choosing to “be a good person” and guilt trip Marinette is 100% something that he’d do; avoid the consequences and place the blame on someone else.

instead of facing the consequences of being both a domestic and international terrorist, he places the responsibility both on Marinette/Ladybug and on Nathalie; if they get exposed, they could both go to prison.

i’m 99% sure in El Toro De Piedra, the letter basically said that Gabriel sacrificed himself; he had the plan to do that before Marinette/Ladybug fought him. he knew that if he got caught, he had an escape out of it. he never changed to be “a good person”; he wanted Adrien to get the miraculous to bring back himself and Emilie. his sacrifice was a backup plan for him; he purposely decided to place the blame (if/when people find out) on Marinette/Ladybug.

like i see so much discourse on the flaws of characters; Marinette lying, Zoé putting people in danger, Alya getting mad at Marinette, Nathalie asking Marinette to keep the secret, etc.

it seems like a ton of people don’t like that characters aren’t perfect, and aren’t making the rational choice. like as an audience, we can judge the choices because we have the time to do so. seasons 1-5 happen in a span of 9 months. the characters are making choices and decisions that they believe to be good; they don’t have the time to reflect on them.

we don’t have to agree with their choices or behaviors, but claiming that it’s poor writing isn’t that fair. the characters are allowed to make bad choices; they’re allowed to show bad behavior.

I am honestly curious as to how Cosette feels about Owen’s parents like… although Owen does try to soften their abuse, I am sure she probably noticed something is not right considering how he seems to “get hurt” so often.

Here’s a thing to look for, I don’t intend to stay too long on this subject because Ngl, it does give a bit of black best friend trope for white character to me, not that you did it on purpose but it feels that way to me. So I’m gonna go ahead and make it more so about Cosette, sorry. Also pronouns for Zosette, Zoé are He/She/They while Cosette are She/They/It.

Okay so… I think Cosette would see that Owen’s injuries would be less accident related and more attack and very much by someone else very intentionally. They would at least have some kind of experience with it herself by her older brother when they’re much younger but they wouldn’t recognize it themselves since they thought it was simply sibling rivalry. Cosette only knew that Owen had been hurt at home because how quick he’s ready to cover up before school and ask her to help him cover his facial scars, she asked others from his class to know more about what’s going on. It just goes for it but only when they’re alone and completely from anyone bothering them. Cosette didn’t think Owen would deny it so quickly but sure enough, they didn’t judge him for it, instead she just didn’t push further, they didn’t think it would be any more helpful to do so to him.

Much later, they couldn’t stop thinking about it and how frustrating it is that she can’t really do anything without any real evidence or proof. This ends up getting noticed by Zoé, where they ask Cosette if anything is wrong. Cosette didn’t want to spill anything, so it decided to be completely anonymous about it. They kept it very vague about it to the point where Zoé legitimately thought that Cosette was talking about themselves because he had been over there a few times before and sometimes seen what happened. So after Cosette is done explaining, Zoé says “Cosette, is there any way I can help you out of your home? Maybe you can stay here with me or any of our friends for a while, so we can collect evidence on your family.” Then Cosette is shocked that Zoé says that then asks her to explain. Zoé explains that Cosette barely avoids going home a lot, often going to a friends' house, staying after school and how their siblings treat it is very disturbing and they can’t stay there, knowing their parents are barely doing anything about it. Cosette stares at them for a moment before leaving without giving an explanation, Zoé tries to go after them but the Doorman stops her from doing so.

Cosette runs to the park, having to sit down and just proceed with the information before crying. I wanted to showcase that even if they can’t see it themselves, but they can see it in others like Owen because despite it being similar, it is still pretty different abuse if that makes sense. Sorry this is overly complicated.

I've seen Is God Is and Backrooms (another ticket I got for free) over the course of the past 2 days.

Black men if you want to vent your rage at a violent apathetic and IRRESPONSIBLE portrayal of the black man as a monster in film...

Backrooms is your movie , not Is God Is.

Is God Is tells the REAL experiences that black women have within our community while also not absolving the community (including other black women) of its tendency to protect and coddle abusers who hurt our community. It's trying to actually start a conversation, not demonize.

Backrooms is a fantasy psychological thriller that puts white men's evil and irrational fears (based on their own made up fucking narratives usually reflecting their own history) about black men on a fifty foot screen. Every harmful stereotype and every disturbing distortion is done purely for shock value and a dollar.

Some of yall may have heard some of the shit that has been going on right now. I'm gonna give a quick run down of some of the stuff that has been happening. Note, this is not all, and it may never be all as much as I will try to update this.

(I am going to try and compile and briefly explain these as much as I can. There may be misinformation. Please inform me if I got something wrong.)

1) Racist Chinese Dolls.

There are these dolls in China that are being called "Natasha" baby dolls. These dolls are not only very obvious caricatures of black people, but they are being advertised as a "stress relief" in which the people who buy these abuse it in various ways.

2) The Mocking, Abuse, and Dehumanization of Black Children.

Apart from the aforementioned doll, there are apparently people going around mocking, abusing, and dehumanizing black children.

Some people have compared black children to the doll.

Others have been going into African countries and have found ways to mock, abuse, and dehumanize black children for clout.

3) Black people are going missing.

Black people, especially children and teens have recently been going missing at an alarming rate. Some of these same people are turning up dead, deaths being ruled as "suicides."

While it generally unknown why many of these people are going missing, many suspect that their disappearances, deaths, and even lack of coverage is rooted in anti-blackness.
