Should I Start A Countdown?

I have been stressing and stressing about my classroom and what I am going to do with it. Let me be clear...I still don’t know. What I do know is I am excited and I really can’t wait to get the ball rolling because I know my first year will probably be my hardest especially since I am starting everything from scratch. I know there are a list of things that I definitely want to have so I narrowed it down to my top ten things (advice from a veteran teacher). I will post my list later this week.

What to do?

Well I haven’t been doing anything but taking a lot of notes about what I want in my class, how I am going to get it there, and how I am going to implement it. This is going to be so scary for me. I have no clue what and how to do anything and it’s virtually driving me insane.

I am working on things for my future classroom. I am excited and I can’t wait to start work.

Jackpot

A friend told me about this place called SCARCE in Glen Ellyn, Illinois where businesses come to drop off things and teachers can get the items for free with a valid teaching ID (2014-2015) will suffice I used my sub license since I don’t have my real one yet. I hit the jackpot. I grabbed a lot of informational text since it’s really big in common core and NGSS and I also got a nice sized box of Base 10 blocks. I am well on my way and I will definitely be going back.

First Year Jitters

Monday I got my first job offer. After filling out 100+ job applications a school decided to give a teacher with zero classroom experience a shot and boy am I scared. Now I am going through the motions; what should my class look like, what will my students be like, will they like me, will they respect me, will my decorations be too young, will they be too old, and will I have a chance to be as creative as I want. I don’t even know how I am going to enjoy the rest of my summer because I thought once I had found a job I would be able to relax but I am just worrying more.
